Love Poem: Intermission

Intermission

I was dancing to my own beat
Living in my play
Finding a moment
To whisk myself away

There you stood before me
Quickly I did fall
You began to show me
A passionate grace

You found me at my intermission
Waiting for my curtain call
You found me at my resting point
It made it easier for me to fall

I listened to all the pretty words
Between the soft touches
Your quiet nature drew me in
Found myself lost in it all

We had nothing in common
From two different worlds
You made me feel like a queen
being courted by a pauper

I was told it was impossible
They said that we were too different
Told that I could do better
It was something I wouldn't believe

I was thankful you found me at my intermission
That I missed my curtain call
Thankful I was distracted
And you were there to catch me in a fall

We had our day
It was priceless
Simple like our love
Quaint and subdued

Our first moments started drastically
Fear began to persist
I saw you die in front of me
You saw me fade because of this

I kept you alive through all my pain
Trying to make us survive
Crying every night
Wondering what became of my life

Our touch became nothing
A wishful thought in my mind
I couldn't live each day like this
And I gave up the fight

I found my own solution
Since you wouldn't come to me
This would be the finale
What would set me free

I felt no guilt for my decision
It was the end of my intermission
And as our final day came
There was a new peace

The orchestra began their song
My curtain call was waiting for me
I had a greater part in life
And it required you to leave
