Love Poem: Insomnia

Insomnia

I lie here in the dark waiting.
It eludes me like an answer
on the tip of my tongue.
I wait anxiously wondering
will it ever come?
My mind is filled
with the events of the day
and worries of tomorrow.
The hours slowly tick away.
I while away the night alone.
I hear your snoring
and I wish the same for myself.
I rise to finish a mundane task,
grab a snack, or to watch a movie.
My heavy eyes watch
as the eastern horizon lightens.
I gently climb under the covers
so as not to disturb.
The ghost slowly descends
upon my spent body.
Finally, sleep arrives.
