Love Poem: Innocence

Innocence

Some have it taken from them, far too young in life;
Some claim a hold on to it, until becoming man and wife;
Some freely give it away, under circumstances not quite right;
She is blessed with the memory of a spectacularly wonderful night.

He was kind and he was gentle; love the both of them did share;
He allowed her to set the pace, showing that he cared;
Experiences, he had a few, of that she held no doubt;
He left her with the comfort that at any time she could back out.

A climax, she might not have reached, but there was pleasure in the pain;
His masculinity enveloped her, covered with sweat that felt like dripping rain;
Deeply he looked in her eyes as the two of them had become one;
Tightly he held on to her long after the excitement was all done.

Life led them down different paths; the parting was sad but natural;
Other lovers would come and go but none were as memorable;
She knows she is in the minority of women whose first experience was so pure;
She wonders whatever became of him and will for evermore.
