Love Poem: In Your Arms

In Your Arms

I’m suppose to hate you
that is exactly
how I felt,
until I laid eyes on you…

I’m supposed to be over you
at least that is what I thought,
until you showed up at my door…

My heart is not suppose
to beat for you the way it does,
because you’re the one
who broke it into pieces…

You’re not suppose to
want me
the way that I want you,
you decided “us” would not last..
now you’re standing here
eyes begging for forgiveness
without saying a word…
hand outstretched,
inviting…

 I’m not suppose to
take your hand,
feeling the old familiar
tingling, expectancy
that only you could induce…

I want to pull away
I probably should…
I’m so weak,
that’s what you do to me,
willpower takes
a back seat when you’re around…

As you wrap me in your arms
squeezing me, pulling me closer
I feel like I’m melting away
in your arms is where I want to stay…

Peering through half-open eyes
just to confirm
that I’m not dreaming
because if this is a dream,
please stop the clock
and please don’t wake me up…
