Love Poem: In God's Care

In God's Care

In God’s Care

When life became too much for her to bear
no longer was a strong and sturdy tree.
I held her hand and tried to make her see
a hopeful light behind the dark despair.

I combed her tossed and tangled raven hair
the curling ringlets falling wild and free.
My dearest love in life. What proved to be
her darkest hour. Alas, I was not there.

In grief and pain, within the church I kneeled
and begged the Lord’s forgiveness for this wrong,
Here in this peaceful place of hallowed song
the gentle Lord my broken spirit healed

Though earthly form is spent, no life to share
I know she rests with God in His sweet care

Love hurts and love heals
