Imagine How I Would Feel

Words have failed me, often falling silent though they're shouted out within my heart. And spoken meekly, never violent, they've struggled with what to say from the start. I’ve rarely said “I love you”, though I do for that devalued phrase makes love sound cheap. And though I seldom voice my love for you my affections run impossibly deep. Thank you, for you making me all I am, whatever good you found, you magnified! And made me feel, I'm worth a tinker's damn, standing beside me, always on my side. Dying hurts when one soul splits into two yet I cannot be there to ease your pain. And it’s hard, for I know you're hurting too, my soul has passed on, yet yours must remain. I dare not imagine how I would feel if you died and rose to a higher plane. But I have faith, I believe God is real and He'll reunite our souls once again. (Quatrain) Dec. 24, 2018
