If, in your eyes, I could implant An image of my soul, You would always see the genuine me Whose love, in your heart, you hold. The simple me would always be Transparent in your sight. Through your own eyes, you'd realize Into my darkness, you brought light. If, on your heart, I could engrave An image of my love, Then you would know how dear to me Are things I'm fondest of. Then, in your eyes, I'd always see Hearts and souls like you and me Chasing love and happiness In a world that just won't let it be. But, I have no magic pencil To write with on your heart. I cannot shade your vision With blinders of some sort. So, if these things can never be, I'll live my whole life through Just singing all my simple songs That say how I love you.
