If This Was the Last Flower

For the mist draped the distant trees,
I remember the soft cold breeze,
The sight of a thousand purple flowers,
Witnesses of a thousand hugs of ours.

The purple flowers shone in your hair,
As you smiled, shy and told me there,
"Such are the flowers that bloom here,
As they die, so will time that binds us near."

The purple flower now lies in my hand,
Wilted, like a patient lover betrayed,
As the flower bed now lies barren,
Lifeless, like the lost dreams of love,
If this was the last flower,
Why o' why, can't my hand embrace you?
