Love Poem: If Only

If Only

If only my pain would not run
As tears down my cheeks
Faced with the wall
That Love has made of himself!

If only my words would not be met
With disgusted silence
Subtly shredding my heart
Into thousands of slices!

If only my dreams would come true
I would have held out my hands
To pluck clouds from rainbowed skies
And share them
With the rest of the world!

If only life was not so harsh on me
I would have smiled from my soul
Without having to pretend
That I am not bothered
By those cold winds
That tear through my bones
In the gloom of my own shadows!

If only this world was made of sincerity
My happiness would have shined
Instead of being caged in a glass tin
Made to look alluring to those
Who gape at it curiously
Making it seem like an animal
Trapped in a zoo!

If only my story had a happy ending
My poems would have been adorned
With sunflowers and roses
Fragrant and light
Dancing to the tunes played
By the winds sent by the Gods!

If only,
If only regret was a word
Which did not exist
I would have enjoyed Earth's clime
At all times
Even if it is made of winters and autumns!
