Love Poem: If I Were Your Love

If I Were Your Love

If I were your love,
Would you allow me enough space
To open my wings
And tend to them,
Before enjoying my solo flight
As I usually do, in the night skies?

If I were your love,
Would you create a garden
Simply to allow the flower that I am
To bloom and to invade all the space
As one lost in the ecstasy of existence?

If I were your love,
Would you allow me to be written
And to be read the world over,
While being my partner in crime,
Sharing secrets and intimacy,
Giving care and protection
When the lights of the world have
To be switched off?

If I were your love,
Would you allow to kingdom to expand
Even if you would be my shadow,
Giving me a side; that which would be my strength
But understanding that the need to be a Queen
Flows freely in my blood?

If I were your love,
Would I be able to look into your eyes
And return to you
Those same feelings?
