Love Poem: I missed you

I missed you

My love, how I missed you

I thought I could do what needed done,
Watch you leave and say goodbye.

I lied my love, I didn't even get past day one!

I drove back in the quiet, still of the dark
spent the day, quietly watching, I didn't know what for,
But as day turned to night, I knew what it was.

I was waiting for you to walk through the door.

I warmed up our bed, and into it I crept,
Thinking sleep would come quickly.
But I missed the soft purring and sound of your breath,

No sleep alluded me, it didn't come easy.

My love, how I missed you

The weekend was fine, at least at the start
Although a feeling kept nagging away at my heart
You were not there and I was at home,

At least I had the boys, so I wasn't alone.

But each night as day drew into darkness still
I realised, my head didn't seem quite right,
It showed in the silly things I did, day and night.

I knew I needed you home my love,
you are my left to my right, my up to my down
I cannot live one day more without you around.

The children will be happy to see you home,
I think they wonder where I have gone?
I am surely not myself when I am alone.

Its time for you to come back, I waited nervous to see you.
After 21 years, I still feel like a school girl when waiting for you.
Each moment felt like forever as minutes drew out,
I sat down to wait, couldn't sit quite still,
so shuffled, and excitedly danced around the house, what else could I do?

What joy, what a thrill, as you walked through the door
I will hold you forever, and ever still.
Four days are too long, for this old girl
You are not allowed to do that again
From travelling without me, you have to refrain.

My love, oh how I missed you.
