Love Poem: Gold Star

Gold Star

I combed the mid-day meadows
    To find your dappled kiss
       The sweet, delicious, melting mouth
         And flavors, You, I miss
          I sought a vow eternal
In the Book of Sad Goodbyes
       But found instead ...
A gold star by your name

           I swam the fathomless abyss
      That swirls within your eyes
To find the wellspring of your soul
 And thwart its sad demise
I sought your truth's exclusion
From the Book of Grand Deceit
   But found instead ...
A gold star by your name

I searched the August moonlight
    To find your China skin
       Your soft and secret places
         That burn with callow sin
I sought to glean your absence
         From the Book of Treachery
       But found instead ...
A gold star by your name

Oh how I longed to stem the tide
Of "I promise!" from your lips
The drowning flood of tempting tales
 That like cold poison, dripped
I sought our love's omission
From the Book of Twisted Truths
   But found instead ...
A gold star by your name ...

A star that puts all other stars ... to shame.
