Love Poem: From Better Times

From Better Times

An old friend walks through my ears,
In the form of a song,
That played herself over and over,
Until the sound went wrong.

As I feel the notes pulse,
As I hear the old rhymes,
I remember you,
From better times.

Ignore me as you may,
Hate me as you must,
You’re singing through my head,
And in this voice I trust.

I know every word,
I can sing along,
I know you won’t hear me,
Listening all night long.

To this melody,
That we’ve heard before,
Long, long, ago,
Way before we tore.

Ignore me as you may,
Hate me as you must,
You’re singing through my head,
And in your voice I trust.
