Love Poem: Fatal Impress

Fatal Impress

FATAL IMPRESS

 ‘Tis a natural beauteous impulse
But a fatal impress
Noble heart, nobler man
He is my love, He is my man

At His riches and fortune, I laugh and scorn
For No wealth is grander than that of health and hand

At His abundant possessions, I gaze and toss aside
For No possession is worthier than that of love and learning

At His beauty supreme, I marvel and praise
For No beauty is more supreme than that of virtues, valour and reason

At His naked charm, I surrender and stand charmed
For No charm can surpass humble chivalrous ways

At His Arrogance and Pride, I bow but I do not yield
For No arrogance nor pride can diminish that which is mine

 ‘Tis a natural beauteous impulse
But a simple fatal impress

Inspiration:
Nothing is ever so beautiful as those traits that are hidden well beneath ourselves. A
noble and loving heart, virtues, valour, reason, and pride are those traits that are (in
my opinion) beautiful of them all.
