Love Poem: Eros
Madame Paillasse Avatar
Written by: Madame Paillasse

Eros

Your golden arrows pierced my heart
Is this a curse or an answer to my pleas?
Maybe this is amusing to you, turning me into Echo
Laughing at me from above, as I repeat sweet praises to him
Watching him from afar
Knowing that if I take one more step further, our world will collapse

Why did you do this to me, oh sweet Eros?
Did I do something to cause your wrath?
Is there a reason for my suffering?
Why am I cursed to forever love a man who will never love me?
The arrow, that curse that pierced through my heart, is still there
I cannot pull it out, I cannot get rid of it no matter how much I try
This painful, stabbing heartbreak that is so intoxicating, so addicting
Will it always linger and fester until my demise, until I shatter along with my heart?

I listen to him list out his flaws
My only thoughts being;
“I love you, every single part of you
Don’t you see what I see?”
I’ll always be there for him, admiring him from afar
Telling him my truths, my poetic tributes
Until I disappear and only the echo of my voice will be left
Whispering my love for him from far off
