Days Gone By

Did you ever feel suddenly melancholy thinking of days gone by,
And loved ones that are no longer here, then you sigh?

Or a memory that keeps just coming back and back,
And you look at your life and wonder how you got into this fast track.

Sometimes it feels like you’re carrying the weight of the world and you’re all alone,
You think back to your childhood and realize it was the best you could have possibly of known.

You wonder when you crossed that invisible line, from child to man,
Then the question that really makes you think, am I doing what God wants am I following
His plan.

As you realize that you are not a young man anymore, and time is getting short,
Teaching an old dog new tricks is not easy, but you realize that you must make a start.

Trying to live your last days right is not the easiest thing you can do,
Turning loose of the old life sometimes can be difficult but who knew?

But you soon realize you are not alone in your brand new quest,
That there are others that are eager to share their love for the Lord and have been put to
the test.

The devil doesn’t give up easy he puts up a pretty good fight,
And you have to really be on guard cause he’ll slip back in day or night.

He knows all your weak points, and if he can’t get to you he’ll attack someone you love.
That is why we must stay strong in God’s word and call on His help from above.

I know it probably sounds like I’m preaching, but I’m really not,
I just call it reaching, reaching out for Jesus and what His dying bought.
