Love Poem: Darkness At Noon
Joyce Johnson Avatar
Written by: Joyce Johnson

Darkness At Noon

The years we had were joyous
Until you left me so soon.
For you the day had ended,
For me it was only noon.

I thought when we said those vows,
I'd be with you for my life,
And I know you thought the same
When you took me for your wife.

I've grieved for things you've missed,
Our three children as they grew
And wonderful grandchildren
Not privileged to know you.

There have been so many things
I could share with you alone,
But you have missed the sadness
And the sorrows I have known.

Your children are older now
Than age you were when you left.
We've done a lot of living
Since you left us so bereft.

None of us could understand
Why we had so soon to part.
Be sure there's been space for you
In each ever-loving heart.

So many of our loved ones
Have now met you up above,
I'm sure they have all told you
How we've longed for you with love.
