Shades of Blue

Swirling winds dashed in a frenzy
Her composure tore apart,
Then the lightning and the thunder
All pitched in to break her heart.

Darkness fell with little warning
Thoughts got flooded in the rain
And the only sense of feeling
Left the ache of burning pain.

Foaming waves kept on their pounding,
Made it harder to resist
Weary mind spoke of surrender:
Why the trouble to persist?

Then to mind came thoughts of sunrise
Brilliance of the midday sun
Magic of the twilight settling
Lover’s promise to be won.

Faces formed behind the curtain
Of the deluge of her tears
Through the howling winds, a whisper:
“Give to me those raging fears.

Think of all that still awaits you
Places, dreams you’ve yet to see
Turn away from blue that shades you
I am Love, come walk with me.”
