Love Poem: Black and White

Black and White

My steps are not too distant from yours
...and yours
illuminating offers of respect,
removing doubtful intentions.

look around when crashing down
I am beside you, waiting in the wings.
what brought you here burning into ashes
time's relentless march.

You bring the new torchbearer,
promising beaming of light from a far,
fearing the assessment.
awaken in a different era it seems,

resilience, steadfast
A silent strength your eyes behold,
I cry to the heavens
''Why make it so difficult''

softly spoken words, beauty.
conveyed in a wanting hand amidst the wreckage, alone
heavy weight on the shoulders history repeating it's self,
power out doing grievance ''The greater good''

I spit on that truth
I want to reach in deep grab your heart make it beat again
roots connect but I am sorry my love we are sending him off to war
''to fight for our freedoms''
forgotten.

Nothing new under the sun
