A Soldier's Wish
Oh how I wish I for peace in this world,
and to avoid places where bombs are hurled.
Places where people hate us there,
which is most everywhere.
Not that I won’t go and fight,
or stand up for what is right.
I have accepted my countries call,
to support wartime missions one and all.
September 11th birthed new patriotic support,
however it’s time only lasted for a short.
Just to feel appreciated for what we do,
and all the things we go through.
Thanks to all those in years gone by,
who fought for freedom only to die.
In a desert land so far from home,
America’s sons and daughters bravely roam.
No matter what the reason or cause,
they deserve our respect and applause.
