confusion, dance, relationship,
What is this dance that we do?
First you spin me; I twirl with delight
Captivated by your attentive gaze
Then you back away as I move toward you
So many times we’ve been on this floor
One step forward, two steps back
Movements that confuse a foolish heart
Often I feel I’m dancing alone
Still I keep dancing to reach you
Each time I draw near, you retreat
And still it seems you want me to stay
For an eternity drawn to a love unrequited
My dancing shoes I place on a shelf
Along with my dreams, pieces of myself
Perplexed by your desire to continue
Pirouetting toward the unknown

art, love, valentines day,
A period of youthful vim ferments
as coruscating golden flecks in eyes
that mesmerise and tantalise, give rise
to secrets in my breast to stir, foment.
The xanthous tresses that cascade torment.
My eager and impressionable sighs
that echo every pirouette and pliés,
a fleeting intercession of lament.
A maverick when it comes to amour
and quintessentially a rakish cad.
Unrequited love longstanding rancour,
but finally become your paramour.
An enigmatic smile ever so sad;
your broken heart I gladly give succour.

The Forgotten
Silhouetted shadows that grasp the ground
That will never be seen and never be found
Within the walls of the lost and hidden
Behind the tears of loves forbidden
Sheltered silences that mask behind
Broken hearts of the eternal mind
Surfacing solitudes that tumble in time
Discarded dreams that build the blind
For the Angels sleep and cries unheard
A shadow screams a wounded word
For I am here but can not be seen
A melting memory in a decaying dream.

for her, for him, hurt, lost love, love hurts, pain, sad love,
Why did everything had to happen this way?
Why do I still think of it? It's over anyway.
Of your heart, I always wanted to be a part.
Unrequited, fallen to the ground, is my heart shattered apart.
One might be strong to collect those pieces fallen.
But to join them again who would self embolden?
For they know, its shape it would ultimately retain,
But exposing its scars, its marks would always remain.
Worst pain you would suffer, still more you would have to pay.
For death is worst some may say .
But it's not, when embraced everyday.

loveheart, heart, lonely, love,
He did not love her, yet she adored him.
For the naive soul who fell all alone,
Ablaze with a fiery yearn for him,
Her Fondness met with a heart of cold stone.
Wept as the fire died, saw embers of him.
The embers burnt black, and she became scarred.
Discovered merely hatred within him,
The truth was unveiled and her heart was charred.
To be lonely in love is to suffer,
No solace in solitude it is grim,
Dreams are lonely with only one owner,
She wants to share her dream of love with him.
To love him, to love you, is all I ask
Let my heart find peace and remove my mask.

angst, anxiety, emotions, feelings, heartbreak, loneliness, love hurts,
Unrequited love is shallow,
lacking depth; it cannot float dreams.
Yet, you will forego happiness
for a lifetime of silent screams.
Both tormentor and destroyer,
doubt devastates your sense of pride.
A heart that craves a love denied
will wilt and slowly die inside.
Wishes attack reality;
striking with irrational force.
Unattainable dreams fuel
frustration, anger, and remorse.
Truth defines the expectations
and anticipations of youth.
And yet, you have fallen in love,
acknowledging no other truth.
Feeling lost, nothing seems real,
drowning in tears, you cling to hope.
Yet rejected hearts tend to break;
finding it difficult to cope.

for her, forgiveness, friendship, longing, love, romance, true love,
I never claimed to be perfect,
and yet she wished it so.
An unspoken promise
to which I never agreed;
And now she knows
that unrequited part of me
that took a lifetime to overcome;
And now she sees
with eyes wide open
that I chose to return;
An unspoken promise to her,
now realized:
I never claimed to be perfect,
and now she knows it’s true.

lost love,
I write to vent.... my reason, the pain of an unrequited heart. I must be cautious that my lamenting doesn't askew the literary balance. The jilted black sister theme is tired but I could write it in a thousand sonnets.
I loved you so much
once I WISHED I was your cat
now what is your name?

Ruben looked deep down a decanter of hopeless glass
Engulfed in spirits of the wrong kind by his inner nemesis
Saturated with agony delusions and soaked surrender as he
Opened the screw top and drained drunken promises
Lingering at agony’s abyss he glanced at the sink hole
Unrequited love was a reason to live and not to dissolve
Tempests of titanic proportions tempted his resolve
In the face of drowning he tied a new essence to his dreams
One day at a time and sober he now faced life on it’s terms
Naked to the core he put the genie back into the bottle

we embrace

dark, introspection, light, love, moon, sorrow, wisdom,
I sat alone
with the moon
last night – in
the deep dark;
till the dim light
and then
the morrow;
I spoke of Love's enchantment...
of Love's joys, and of loveless
sorrows...
I asked, had she also counted –
with the happy hours –
the many unrequited tears?
Had she kept a few of my own?
For joy and sorrow, does Her Light
show different tone? Or for Her,
is it all the same moan?

flowed through her soul
Life was music, though hers
life was a disaster
It was about unrequited love
even before she was born
Uncompromising and impossible
Her performance always carried hope
An artist's muse
- which was crushed into small pieces
She had only one wish
a cloudless sky
and a problem free day
But the moment never came

Soft moonlight
Reflects off my guitar
As I wait for you 'neath your window.
I spy your shadow silhouetted by a light.
Taking a deep breath, I start to sing and finger my guitar;
An air of unrequited love, and the sadness of life in the shadow.

Cryptic notes on dirt stained walls
She gets to read the beating of your heart
Instead of feeling it
The distant cry of unrequited love
So loud
We heard it on the other side of town
You wore it on your sleeve
Proudly displayed
Never doubting what you felt
Even though she never acknowledged it
You hoped she would reciprocate
Until that day you got tired
Of putting up a brave face
You finally decided to move on

life, love, on writing and words, love, poets,
Good poets like precision, real art is
an economy of words that define.
That is why the subject of love will mess
up even the wisest of poets that line
up to talk much of unrequited love,
that sounds more like lust most of the time.
True love may not be eternal or above
ordinary humans but found to be divine
nevertheless because it endures in the coffee
made each morning, resides in the same bed
every night, lasts through mistakes and daffy
misunderstandings, diapers, children fed,
sickness, health and death, life's distracting lures.
When loved ones work at it, love endures.

My unrequited love of thee
was not returned in words or touch
and it had reached a torrid toll
that sparked a flame within my soul
its strength ignited by my pain
send to me a thunderous rain
to extinguish this flame of love
leave a smoldering memory
of a love that can never be

betrayal, relationship, sad love,
A crisp autumn afternoon
We strolled hand in hand in the park where we’d first met
It was the prefect place for me to propose
We’d had a whirlwind romance
You were the girl of my dreams
I thought you felt the same
Your ex boyfriend had jilted you at the altar
I thought you were well and truly over him
I went down on bended knee
Asked you to be my wife
Suddenly your mobile phone rang … it was him
Your tears fell like autumn leaves
You turned your back on me
I thought I could make you happy
It was not meant to be …

emotions, feelings, hurt, love hurts,
Caught up in cycles of love-hate
she dons a smile to hide her hurt.
Yet, those conflicting emotions
lead to inevitable pain.
In her fantasies, she's happy;
though that happiness is fleeting.
For in her world of make-believe,
she conjures hope from denial.
Jealousy lurks in the shadows;
taunting her devastated heart.
For whenever she's feeling blue;
dreams dwell on melancholy thoughts.
Youth's impenetrable shield failed
to guard her vulnerable heart.
And as lies obstructed the truth,
illusions fueled delusions.
Smitten by unrequited love,
fantasy shuns reality.
And she teeters upon the edge
of despair and insanity.

love hurts,
Returning from a one-sided
love affair
on a full tank of unleaded love.
It didn’t help matters much
with Roy Orbison singing
“It’s over” on the radio;
I made an attempt to turn it off
but I just couldn’t do it.
I was masochistically mesmerized:
hearing only his voice
lamenting its familiar, few last lyrics:
“It's over, it's over,
it’s over… it’s o...ver.”
Indeed, it was!
