A Purple Ribbon

Mementos in a box, from years gone by
Thought to have been disposed of long ago
A glance, when something purple caught my eye
A ribbon from someone I used to know

I gently gave a tug like way back when
It slipped from it's confines just like before
Then instantly relived it all again
And just like her, it leaves me wanting more

But even though it was so delicate
This ribbon in it's femininity
Tied in her hair it looked so elegant
Yet strong enough to bind her memory

This ribbon with it's strength beyond compare
Ties fifty years to my first love affair

How Long

I've never kissed a pig with my eyes closed
Nor have I ever held a hand of time
However, there was once when I proposed
But that was back when I was in my prime

I still recall how much she loved to dance
She'd laugh at me and make my face turn red
She taught me all the secrets of romance
That love was what one did, not what one said

I search the shadows for her purple hue
I take her mem'ry everywhere I go
Its smile has it's own special shade of blue
Its taste so sweet no one could ever know

They tell me only time mends broken hearts
I wonder just how long before it starts.

Purple Cemetery

I write so many poems that you don’t see
They end up in purple poem cemetery
Mangled in the **** of my maroon mind
Tangerine tangles of wasted time

Violet vines of not good enough
Tall teal trees of unreturned love
Winged words white like albino leaves
Falling to their death from teal tree

Falling for you’re deaf to my poet tree
Bass treble cleft left in green cerebral dream
Unsung songs unmade love
Sing a longs gone wrong
Made in maroon lust

But somehow I manage to hold on to it
Maybe it will be reborn as a chocolate kiss
of rainbow reflection of historical views
Of future endeavors red spice unused.

My Heart Beats For You

Walking aimlessly through the woods
Searching for that spot we once stood
Pouring out my heart and my tears
Reliving memories of those special years

Red and orange and purple from green
Rich autumn colors, a sight to be seen
The winds of change quickly blowing in
With it a new chapter will soon begin

Not ready to give up, I can't let go
Where am I headed, where will I blow
Lost without you, what am I to do
Darling, my heart is still beating for you

Summer Love Sonnet

What's not to love about a summer day?
Kissed by the sun, the warmth of its embrace
To feel the cleanse from sweat at work and play
While honeysuckle breezes cool my face

With hillsides blanketed in purple vetch
Magenta morning glories and light blues
Imagine all the butterflies they fetch
A scene to romance any poet's muse

But when it gets too hot, I seek the shade
Barefoot in clover 'neath tall sycamores
Or take a watermelon down to wade
A spring fed creek, to cool, while I explore

That evening, in the swing, I watch fireflies
Then pray I wake to see one more sunrise

In Purple Fields We Dance

Stay a little longer come closer to my heart Breathe dew breeze on my neck's nape do not yet depart Play for me bagpipe music Blindfold all my starving fears Let the dulcet tones of your voice give us back those harvest years Make of the citrus moon a ballroom Hold me firmly from both hands Lift me high to touch the star-sky Show me how young peasants dance Let my soothing fingers trail across your caloused sun -soaked skin In purple fields Come chase me in that place our souls have been Take me away with you where this world is out of sight Where unspoken thoughts and heartbeats are enough to blaze the night.

By Any Other Name

If love could have a color, I suppose
it wouldn’t be just any common shade.
I’d name it for the colors of the rose.
In heaven’s hues this flower is arrayed!

From chaste love’s hush of pink to heady rush
that’s shown by cardinal or crimson red,
the rose reveals the grades of ardor’s blush
unto the time it’s thought that passion’s fled.

But in the tint of amaranth, the fire
endures; in purple deep it can transcend,
while yellow blooms in bliss that does not tire,
and white’s fidelity will have no end.

Though black the bud, a red will grow thereof.
By any other name, the rose is love.

Dream Come True

Before the day turned into night
You I saw, what an awesome sight!
A smile of eve, of love and light,
A lovesome theme, my dream did write.

Up high blazed pink arc of the sky,
A spark of joy in purple dye,
A gleeful vibe of sun’s goodbye,
When love in your eyes moon did vie.

You my love, are a dream come true,
For life with you, is life I woo;
On cusp of night, where stars lure you,
To clues of love, the sunset drew.

Pray I now, you will steer my way,
Before this night turns into day.

My Song To You

Come to the meadow just you only,
Where autumn weaves her spell;
On hills and purple moorlands lonely,
Where the magic of her presence dwells.

Beneath blue sky and fields of heather,
With soft humming of honey bees.
And I'll hold you, just us two together,
To share the scent of autumns leaves.

We’ve time to share asters in the meadow,
With all that we love best;
With the swallows wings and your shadow,
And summer's grass that built the nest.

To hold and hear the soft wind singing,
To see your hair tossed and blown;
And meet the bluebird softly winging,
Through heaven and earth, we too fly alone.

Peat-Whisky Dreams

Evening finds ascension
on a red grouse wing;
the brilliant copper sky
fades to twilight beam.

It wafts the weathered flora
of a season’s ending term,
as young skylarks soundly sleep
in the nearby bracken fern.

The purple hue glints playfully
on a steep highland muir,
with lovers lying blythesome
on the fragrant heather floor,

their drunk love on crescendo
with a piper's distant drone;
sharing peat-whisky dreams
amid the summer’s final gloam.

Christmas Gifts

Christmas Gifts

Christmas time was lonely for this young boy.
He lived a homeless life upon the street.
Remembering before, when life held joy,
Inside, warm and cozy near a hearth's heat.

Snowmen always seemed to share such delight
That he thought he would build one near each home,
Maybe joining in a fun snowball fight,
Always creating snowmen in the gloam;

Sweet surprise for families unaware.
Giving the only gift he could think of
In building each snowman he took such care,
For it was his kind way to share his love.

These gifts brought him such happiness to see
Smiles upon surprised faces filled with glee.

Black Afternoon

her sunlight shaded with clouds
burning love shuttered in pain.
rainfalls pour down on her feet
black widow spits in demon's face.

broken mirror hangs in the wall
she sees face dirty and old.
pulling down tears one by one
rinse the wound caused by his hands.

she caves underground to feel the darkness
composed herself while brokenhearted.
wait for the morning to witness the sunlight
free her mind to feel the long lost love.

fiercefully, she ran through the door
no regrets, left her home alone.
blue and purple paintings on skin
have gone when she dance in the rain.

Gray Area

Sometimes when matters are in the gray,
it ain’t always black and white
There are times when emotions are deep blue,
canary yellow thoughts can make us wanna fly, shy away
Then, bright orange glowing memories
bring gentle, evergreen smiles
As time’s seasonal change sunset down on us
Being lifelong lovers, we got
amethyst purple hearts of courage
that beats with
ruby red rhythms of loving perseverance
Here at this humble, brownstone garden abode,
two pink carnations have budded and bloomed
Now looking at the graying of the skies,
we can see the rainbows in each other’s eyes
Reflecting the soul spectrum of our love

Nature's Ballad

It was the dream of night to write her message in verses of romance on nature’s ballad
So, the rising morn painted passions of heart on marigold arc in vermilion and purple
For that’s what Venus said love was, when moon relayed night’s song to amative dawn

I AM

I am that little light that shines
Within your heart inside your mind
That rises floats despite dark dilemma
I keep you warm despite white December

I am the start when some say end
That little spark of blue you begin
The make a way out of neon nothing
To pave to raise the road to green dream

I am a yes when life says no
And you digest a positive soul
That cherry confess to be inclined
To walk by faith and not by sight

I am lavender love despite hate
And tender touch that makes a day
I am of peach peace in any place
Find me with ease when you pray

I’m the fuchsia flower blooming your soul
I am purple power I am hazel hope

A Purple Muse In Thought

The deep purple passion of love intoxicates
To fill life's chalice with wondrous wonder
Nothing exists in any realm which replicates
Nor has its power to cast a heart asunder

Passion makes worlds disappear with its eyes
And can teach an empty vessel what serenity means
Its warm rich fullness can overwhelm and surprise
And can invite a poetic soul to reveal its dreams

Violet

A purple temperature within my gloves—
For this night, the bleak snow is on and on,
Which I am gathering your meaning of—
For our knit in-between is slowing, gone.

I'm to your losses; snowflakes lavender,
And straddling the fence, the timbre aches—
On your mauve dress, redeeming ice sheets turn;
In such moments, solid again, we're made.

My own part in skies— a paralyzed blue,
Where dark clouds wreathe in and out of interest;
Know the true day will dawn and set with you—
Sun's beg on rolling stones for violet.

Unconditonal Love

The black water reflects the still morning
Monarchs flutter and dance in rising sun
Purple skies grow lighter without warning
Separate rain, as rainbow colors run
Could I have seen a more beautiful sky?
Silently approaching your silhouette
My eyes well slowly in their joyous sigh
You sit alone, playing your clarinet
There's no vision or reflecting water
That warms my heart as this picture of you
A quivering heart for you, my granddaughter
As you practice in tune with a sky so blue

I am a witness to your gentleness
I feel the music your soul can express

- Oh, Blue Daisy -

In the garden of Eden,
grows beautiful Blue Daisies
Walk your steps with care,
without breaking anything
Hummingbirds and bees,
love your nectar and color

Soft music under the moon
Purple raindrops
Be mine, in the rain
A bouquet Blue Daisy
Shakespeare is in love
That's Amore

Queen Sea and Her Three Paramours

So enchanted was Sun by Queen Sea as he sat near some clouds high above he began sliding down stealthily till he touched the dark face of his love. Then Sir Sky, so aroused by Sea’s hue, began melting along with Sun’s rays, and by now, Sun was dipping into the blue depths of Queen Sea. In a daze, Sky gazed down, and with ruddishness blushed! Then a third lover looked on the face of Queen Sea. Feeling thrilled, Night then brushed rosy heavens with deep purple lace. Night embraced lovely Sea! Sun was gone. And again, Sky with envy looked on. Sonnet done in nine-syllable lines for the Anapest Trimeter Contest of Pendleton Arkwright

In One Fell Swoop

Your words cut- like a woodcutters axe
chopping me down,
blood spills onto the pine strewn floor.
Exhaling words. Spoken without thought,
or love, trapped in an unbreakable bubble
that floats around my head.
Purple memories emanate from the centre,
rippling into infinity, becoming distant…
lost to the edge of life.
I thought love would save me, but
it too floats away on a starlit stream.

Adrift - a Quatern

As raindrops grace my windowpane,
My thoughts return to you again;
Beneath those cliffs of 'Evermore',
That morn along that rocky shore.

My mind ablaze, in that old flame,
As raindrops grace my windowpane;
Beneath those veils of silver mist,
Drenched in the bliss, of that first kiss.

Lost lover to that ocean's roar,
Cannon, the one that I adore;
As raindrops grace my windowpane,
I am consumed by you again.

A soul on fire, now set adrift,
I sail beneath those purple cliffs;
Upon a sea of joy and pain,
As raindrops grace my windowpane.

Walking With You

The icy wind blows through
blushing our cheeks,

Eyes stinging and watering,
and mouths tinted purple.

Snow flurries whirl around us
nipping at our ears;
making our breath white and heavy.

So, we pretend to smoke.

But wide grins give away our game
With hearts purging laughter,

We look long at each other,
Eyes glinting sincerely happy sighs.

City sidewalks stretching out
Before concrete winterlands,
And you and me walking,

Holding and swinging our hands.
