Love Poems About Overhead or Overhead Love Poems

This Night

I’m driftwood, and I’m floating out to sea as sun descends upon my home - the grove of trees whose fragrance still remains with me. And likewise, heaven’s work of art, a mauve surrounding me, now permeates my soul. Warm water, in the twilight growing cold, is rocking me. Beneath dark blue, a shoal moves swiftly; overhead there will unfold the myriad of stars in semblance of a giant carousel in dimming sky. Those stars that glitter for the grove I love will glitter too for me, where here I lie alone, enraptured. . . and I think I might drift evermore, enveloped by this night.

A Bullfrog's Croak

Silent as smoke, darkness descends; while shadows merge and daylight ends. For, summoned by a bullfrog's croak; darkness descends, silent as smoke. The Moon pools in ebony skies; and gilded gold; She starts to rise. One of the night's brightest jewels; in ebony skies: the Moon pools. Blue bleeds red from a dying sun, a telltale sign that Day is done. Inking crimson clouds overhead; from a dying sun, blue bleeds red. Signaling for love, fireflies flash, as dusk settles like sooty ash. Under the stars, twinkling above; fireflies flash, signaling for love.

Just a Kiss

Once again the sun fades into the distant sky I gaze up at the stars to imagine the twinkle in your eye Though a sunset for me, is a sunrise for you It's at this time each day my heart is feeling blue Together are hearts are one, yet half a world apart I know that shooting star is filled with love from within your heart With a full moon slowly rising overhead into the nights sky May it be a sunrise of beauty for you, as it kisses the morning sky

Jewel In the Sky

o how
                                    i love the
                            gentle shape
                        of a crescent
                    moon overhead
                 hanging in the sky
                amongst the stars
                 how I adore the
                    idyllic shape of
                        a crescent moon
                            way up high
                                    in amongst
					       the stars

Spring Enchantment a love poem

Spring Enchantment (a love poem)

As wisps of clouds creeped
overhead before a storm moving quickly east,
the moon lay down his vanilla beams
to dispel the darkness hiding our bared feet —
set side by side — romantically
touching for warmth, for love, for eternity,
hopefully, to envelop us, like the coming rain
in our lives’ thundering, combined heartbeats
…joined into those duets passion will release
all about from the great springs of yearning.

Sea Idyll

In a world of conflict and scheming,
may I never awaken from dreaming
of someday being able to float
out -- out in my own little boat --
out on a moon-lit bay
where tropical waters play
and a cooling breeze drifts by.
The salt sea air would be bracing --
would set my weary heart racing --
there on that moon-bright bay.
Only gulls overhead, as they fly, and I,
would hear, from the sandy shore,
the palms as they rustle. I sigh --
oh -- I never would ask for more
than to float on the nurturing sea --
only you, and the moon, there with me.

A Piece of Heaven

Silent midnight, crescent moon overhead
Molten silver shimmered on dewy grass
Tender jasmine and vibrant marigold
Danced with the gentle breeze
As softly it caressed my sleepy cheeks
Resting on his warm loving shoulder

The Gift of Eros

The Gift of Eros

Aloft flies Eros; mischief fluttered wings
With silent rustle whisper overhead
By arrows pierced; the hearts of knaves and kings
The chilly grave, the restless lover’s bed
Blue London air, red Piccadilly light
Above the shifting crowd and constant noise
In summer heat, in neon and the night
He aims his slender bow with perfect poise
Aloft flies Eros; underneath his feet
As shadows of the Circus slowly shift
I contemplate my own love, bitter, sweet
The wound that Eros wrought in me, the gift
And as I turn my tears up to the sky
A pigeon drops an arrow in my eye

Reflected In the Honeymoon

ripples of water torture accepted
the wrinkle of time descending
mannahly marantic romance
torticollis dribs and drabs of syringe
honey’d seeds remain; cakes fade away
dawn will erase; placidity will forget
but the depths release their seamonsters
reflected in the honeymoon, between palms
with firework stars overhead; eternal bliss

Yoga

Yoga had me do the plow
Twist my spine I just said how
Reset my spine feet overhead
To calm myself inside instead

To be so calm when drama’s rise
A symptom of complete surprise
My temper better held in check
Yoga has my just respect

My Yoga headstand is the best
I see it as my simple test
So natural normal once and then
Have done before and will again.

Don Johnson 30-4-11

Yes Yoga is the exercise
makes you flexible true
i must make time if i'm half wise
fore my bones get black n blue

thank you Caroline we agree Yoga does instill
the calmness flexibility, so im less over the hill")

As I Watch the Waves Crash

As I watch the waves crash, I feel so numb.
To think that it was but one year ago
I stood here and felt my heart beat like a drum,
for you were beside me watching sun sink low.

While sky above us glowed a crimson red,
I felt so happy as you held my hand.
My heart soared like the seagulls overhead.
But you’re not with me now here on this sand.

The waves could cover me . . . I wouldn’t care.
I’m sinking like the sun into twilight.
Without your hand in mine, I’m in despair.
Come crash me, waves! I will not even fight.

Night Time

Insomnia.
I get up, put on coat
and sit outside in the cool air.
Cloudless night. History hangs overhead
in full stops glowing in an infinite dark.
No wind overwrites the quiet.

There is only the chatter
of my own mind traced in scribbles
across unfolding time. Occasionally
a face forms, lingers then dissolves
into a residue of feelings left
in a forgotten corner of my life.
All is shadow, misted hauntings
in empty rooms.

I reach out for something firm
to hold onto and feel only
my own weight pushed
into the chair. Then, as if breaking
loose, a sudden rush of recognition -
there are people
who love me.

A Kiss With a Rush

You harken me for a kiss... And how can I refuse? So I'm sending it with love, on the wings of a dove, knowing it's something you can use. Not the wings of the dove... But a kiss that is filled with love. As it flutters overhead, these words shall be read, and the kiss shall float down from above. Landing softly on your cheek... This kiss will make you blush. As your face turns red, silly thoughts will fill your head, and it will give you a nice little rush. 8-10-13: DannyBoy

Emptiness

Emptiness.
A vast expanse of waste yet all enclosed,
The only light a thornless rose,
Will my heart withstand the test?
The stars once shone but now are gone,
Love with its once auspicious grace,
Fruitless and sad it lingers on,
Yearns for a now departed face...

Hope now dead,
And all around, want fights light 'till death is found,
And numbéd sound from in the ground,
Kills the sound of life from overhead.
That star is gone, by me loved long,
Within another sphere of space,
Dies the strength of Love's lovely song,
But cannot leave without a trace...

Chasing the Moon and Stars

Chasing the moon round and round, Never catching a glimpse of you, As darkness falls on my dewy ground You're under a bright sky of crystal blue. When Mars is shining in your dark sky And Venus sparkles bright white, The sun is shining in my tired eyes From chasing Pluto all night. When your Milky Way passes overhead, And on Jupiter there's icy rain, It fills my heart with pain and dread Just to start the race again. Chasing planets never ends. Guess we'll always be "just friends". By: Carole O'Terry Duet Copyright: May 9, 2017 "All rights reserved"

City Lights At Night

City lights at
night
illuminating the metropolis
A thousand, thousand
city dwellers
    Greet the evening
with electricity
   Overhead clouds
form lovely patterns
Autos whizz by
While the young walk city streets
         In search of excitement
         and love
The night has a long way to go
A frail man gazes
from his window
   He sees the city
lights
He dreams in his small room
     Eyes - hundreds of eyes
Tire and begin to close
  The city holds answers
if you search
    hard enough
They can be found
    The asphalt homeland
awaits morning
     As throngs leave the city
leaving behind ashes and pity

Daydreaming of You

Sitting with daydream bubbles overhead
My mind drifting in imagination
Remembering all, the things you have said
Drawing pictures from heartfelt sensations
That cotton candy smile of friendliness
Happy eyes like a teddy bear surprise
Shiny hair with a flowery fragrance
Feathery skin soft as baby blue skies
Prancing around in old worn out blue jeans
Pretending you're dancing with another
Laughing and swirling in your own daydream
With a fantasized secretive lover
Now I've drifted back to reality
Wondering if you were dancing with me

A Night To Remember

The dark; the gloom; the waning moon dost shine
The beast within the pounding heart unwinds
The night’s delight awaiting sunset
The girl sits all alone

The stars shoot by overhead up high
Crickets sing out a lover’s lullaby
A night to dream a fantasy of love
The boy takes her home

Clouds Are Crying

Outside the clouds are crying
misty rain falls
I think of love
missing my woman
love is like a snake it coils
constricting the heart
on other days it coos
like a dove still and white...

Lightning flashes
I am drowsy night scented
I wish for my baby
sure and silent
peace and joy...

The sky weeps gently
falling on my roof
a passionate yearning lover's prayer
a deluge overhead
I have been hers
since January began...

I called her and said
"you should appear"
in my dreams more often"
since we meet frequently
in night's sanctuary...

Wave Upon Wave

I love to walk barefoot along the shore the imprint of my footprints follows me like a shadow I know they’ll vanish as each wave breaks rushing over the shingle tickling my toes I stop and turn to face the sea hoping to espy a seal suddenly a little wave appears and a black head pops up bobbing up and down in the ocean Alas, this magical moment is marred by squawking seagulls circling overhead as they follow a trawler heading home with catch of the day I wave to the fishermen and continue on my walk ''W'' New Poems Poetry Contest Sponsored by Constance La France 11/24/21

Hummingbird - Quatern

Hummingbird sips the nectar sweet
honeysuckle rose in the heat
Orange blossoms fragrance the air
Multitudinous, no compare

As green vines curl around love seat
Hummingbird sips the nectar sweet
Overhead dazzle of bright sunshine
Dappling the shadowed cypress pine

As starlings, from flight, rest awhile
Settling over each clay roof tile
Hummingbird sips the nectar sweet
Making summer day so complete

A sudden breeze takes up it's form
Startled the birds fly up and swarm
Oblivious to frantic tweet
Hummingbird sips the nectar sweet

Meteor Shower

Watching overhead amaze at the meteor shower.
Cosmic debris spill, across the night sky.
You grasp my hand softly - my lovely boo,
holding me tight whispering I love you.
