Deafened Art

you can't break what's already broken nor forsake what's been forsaken

every love song is a ghost story ~ when velvet skies dimmed our glory

no one really comprehends ~ how deep into the core it descends

cloaked with invincible clouds , afraid to let tear-stained ink pour and set

silenced tongues sing in solitude ~ knitting metaphors misunderstood

hushed voices echo amidst smoky lungs ~ tainted through deafened art

Caregiver's Road

Beneath a heavy weight I labored,
misunderstood by those I love and serve,
illness raging, family demanding,
expending soul and physical reserve.
Like a thin smoke quickly dissipating,
spirit tenuous, weak upon the road,
on the precipice of breakdown trembling
feeling endurance and harmony erode.

Along a peaceful stretch of sand walking,
listening to pounding surf, the birds,
tasting the invigorating sea air,
hearing in my heart God's voice, His words,
inviting nature in to permeate
my being, soothing the aching pain . . .
spirit at rest, on God's glory feeding,
I can go home, begin my work again.

Timelessness

My favorite family photo
Shows Dad canoeing
With my brother and sister
That’s how I remember him
Peaceful, at one with nature
In awe of the timelessness
At ease with the great outdoors
Just gliding through waves
Surrounded by sounds of emptiness
Of vastness cocooning us
In love with the serenity
Hovering fondly around us

That precious look in Dad’s eye
Can’t be misunderstood
It exudes of happiness
Of a heart bubbling over
Of harmony
Of wholeness
Of life
Of eternity

Responding To Pain

RESPONDING TO PAIN Why do bad things happen to good people? A legitimate question as most answers seem feeble Difficult circumstances, harm and pain are often inflicted When righteous people struggle and sorrow so clearly depicted We need to begin understanding along with defining ‘righteousness’ Clearly it’s not those who live their lives with justice and goodness Fresh perspectives-- trials are not intentional things that befall us Reaction to pain should be trying--striving to manage without fuss When our love of God depends solely on what makes us feel good Faith becomes dependent on circumstances- evidently misunderstood

I'M Back

Your Poem though not long
Sang such a beautiful song.
I hope I've not misunderstood
But all your words sound so good
I know I gave up and moved on
But that had its own pro and con
I thought I didn't have a chance with you
But I had absolutely no clue
So now I'm back
And I'm ashamed for all that I lack
I miss being with you
So much you have no clue
I'm sorry we didn't talk all summer
That is such a bummer
Maybe things will change now
But I don't know how
All I want to say
Is yes I will stay!

Havoc

'Tis like I walk knee deep in mud
Where once though I was gliding,
Had my heart misunderstood
You now seem undeciding.

Love I thought came to the fore
My eager heart was flying,
Yet now it lay upon the floor
Were all my hopes now dying.

I dared not guess, nor enquire,
I was awash with dread,
Oh how love, rife with desire
Wrought havoc with my head.

For Love is but a Word

For love cannot abide a troubled soul
Nor hold the trembling hand of aging fear
Lest it succumb as doubt makes it less whole
And yet deny its presence drawing near

For love is not a shallow water dream
It rages ‘neath the calm of surface lie
Its depth the chilling darkness of a scream
That knows its aching fever will not die

Thus, do the lovers dance ‘round fires flame
The heat of endless passion counting coup
Denying that two hearts could be the same
While both the dancing lovers know it’s true

For love is but a word misunderstood
By those who would define it if they could

Prejudice

Beautiful ponder how you meander
in all constraints of unmeasurable tender
you are mine.
And I shall keep you close.

Panjandrum is not your domain
so bear no false witness my friend
for I know thee well my perpetual self.
Misunderstood as you are,
in love we shall pertain.
And I shall keep you close.

Make no sacrifice to past missed
nor give offering from here to eternity
for you owe nothing to the disdain of prejudice.
Only beauty will keep you.
And I shall keep you close.

Empathetic Fairy

Among the dandelions empathetic fairy listened to misunderstood squirrel.
She made no suggestions, sat quietly, in silence, nodding sometimes.
Showing him how valuable a good listener can be.
Especially one who does not interrupt to ask questions.
He concluded for himself the answer as he watched her watch him.
It was the best council he had ever received.
And in silence.
Empathetic fairy had helped him fix his problem
Without contributing one word.

A Virtuous Woman

A virtuous woman is so full of love
She's filled with wisdom from heaven above
She keeps herself from the immoralities of life
She gives up a lot making the ultimate sacrifice
She never gets pressured she makes her own mind
When temptation comes she has always declined
She is misunderstood to her family and friends
She's considered an outcast because she won't bend
Though pressured from peers she stands through it all
She is a virtuous woman determined to stand tall.

Flashes Of Real

Lies told to deceive your soul; let dying dreams drown in tears. And you fall into a hole; that deepens over the years. Squandering away your youth; you somehow lost track of time. And realizing the truth hastens anxiety's climb. Lured by flattery's sweet sway; you cling to dreams to survive. And secret your hurt away, hoping to keep love alive. Denial won't let you see past his lies the way you should. And fuels the fantasy; that he's just misunderstood. Seeking solace in the dark; hope hides flashes of real. And although tears leave their mark, smiles conceal how sad you feel.

Misunderstood

She looked so beautiful
in her evening dress -
her perfume blended so well
like a jigsaw pattern,
together with her smile.

I hugged her,
and kissed her cheeks.

My girlfriend witnessed the entire act;
she threw our Valentine's cake
at my face - that's not how
I anticipated to enjoy the cake,
like Christmas snowballs....

Her body swayed like a wrecking ball,
as she stormed out of the party. For a
moment the room was dead silent - no
sound of music, glasses, or conversations
in the air, not even whispers of gossip.

My girlfriend didn't know that I was
having a moment with my sister.....

Knee-Jerk

I am pondering the necessity of speech,
the redundancy of spoken words, each by each,
the answers given as so many times before,
the repetitiveness becomes hard to endure.

"I'm fine, how're you?" Robotic, knee-jerk answers,
meaningless words that eat our language like cancer,
"Of course I love you" and "No you don't look fat,"
whispered workplace gossip and loud women's chitchat.

Misunderstood, convoluted sentences hurt,
best to keep quiet and a civil war avert,
hidden meanings spoken and often overheard,
silence, indeed, is louder than the spoken word.

Loving Your Enemies

God says to love your enemies that are perverse,
And bless them that hate you and wish you the worst.
If you offer your love instead, God will hear your humble cry,
As he prepares a mansion for you in the sky.

God sends the sun to rise on the evil as well as good.
He sends the rain on the perfect and the misunderstood.
Let your light shine before men, showing a pure heart since birth,
And glorify your Father in heaven on this cruel earth.

A Bump In the Road

Family life is not always smooth There's often bumps in the road Eventually they tend to sort themselves out But sometimes it's a heavier load Feelings run deep, they cut like a knife Small differences complicate things We're misunderstood, we overreact Send out arrows and slings If only us guys would say what we mean And always mean what we say We'd know exactly where each other stood Instead of stumbling on our way Guess we're talking about human nature Seems we're all a bit guilty at times It all comes back to our basic sensitivity As for love we constantly pine © Jack Ellison 2013

Misunderstood

Yeah we met and it started out great
We didn’t need words – we were in sync
But then something went wrong and it all came apart
That synchronisation started to fade

I thought it would be love at first sight
But I got it all wrong and then started a fight
-	That I never knew how to end
Was I missing something or did I just misunderstand?
Cause every time I turned left, you would go right
I would reach out and you retracted your hand

In reality it all lasted about a second
But to my heart it was like a lifetime of heartache, confusion and disappointment
And worse of all – you never even cared
Or maybe you did? I don’t know
Never seemed like it…

Thug Life

Dedication to Tupac Shakur

The life I live,
Is not always positive,
It's repulsive;
I try to eliminate the negative,
But trouble will always be the objective.
God bless the dead;
Sometimes I want to shoot myself in the head,
I rather endure pain instead.
Thug life is what I breathe,
Peace is what I need,
The police wants me to bleed,
Cause I'm the last of a dying breed.
I'm always misunderstood,
But that's okay;
I'm trying to do good,
How can I do that when there's no love in the hood,
Still, I strive to stay alive,
Doing all I could.
As I plan the escape;
For now, I'm trapped living the thug life with hate.

Insist...Resist

This is so surreal
 How do I deal
With a man that cares
 And catches me unawares.

Caught me by surprise
  He refuses to disguise
This love he has for me.
Says it is meant to be.

He is loving and kind
To my faults he is blind
He sees something good
 Says I am misunderstood.

He wants me for me
 Not who I should be
He says he will wait
Or go my pace of sedate.

He always persists
 And does so insist
That his love does exist
 So how can I resist?

Rain

The rain fell down fiercely today.
Washed the trees and washed the birds,
the cars that slowly passed by,
And washed the red roofs of houses in town.

It just couldn't wash away this sorrow,
this inate, nevergone feeling of being alone.
My lips move but what do they say?
not a word from what runs within.

And I always hoped that like salt
the rain would melt it all away,
releasing the heavy lid upon my chest.
A naive expectation,
A silly childish mistake.

For I will die misunderstood,
I'll surely die being betrayed,
No doubt I'll die trying to mend
my full of hope, broken, bleeding heart
that 's been always as heavy as the rain that fell down today.

Master of Creation

Master Of Creation

Her legs perfectly curved, Only to walk upon mellow roses
Her walk easily misunderstood, Only a real man can appreciate

Her posture screams perfection, Even through their jealously they can't help but admire her presence
Her face so radiant you'd swear her maker never knew the elements of error.

This creator has blessed this ground with a flourishing flower, cause'

Deep in her eyes you find a life never been introduced to hate nor anger
Deep in her heart you find a heavenly place where love resides

This craftsman has indeed blessed this ground with a flourishing flower

But, A man he is not
He indeed is, A MASTER OF CREATION

Class a Number One

Not every day is Class A Number One There are some that are not quite as good Like today for instance, started off fine Then people got misunderstood In desire to help, they do certain things That makes others feel inferior Can be unintentional without any malice Perception is what's going to linger Please fear not there is always a solution Treat everyone you know with respect It creates a much better understanding Sweet feelings of love it reflects Not every one's a Class A Number One day But most are usually above average Maybe it's me with my positive outlook That helps make the total package © Jack Ellison 2013

Thoughts of You

"thoughts of you"

I loose myself within your eyes; the nights wear on no place to hide.
I want to rest but cannot sleep, my love for you so painful deep.
I want you back but this can't be, only solitude lays her hands on me.
I gave my life my time is past, remains lay burning heaps of ash.
Will you remember, think of me, our love lest none alive have seen?
Like a scream deep in the woods my life obscured misunderstood
Shed no tear, I know my place, I’ve lived, I’ve loved I’ll kiss Gods face.
