Living Hell

Damned by the devil's curse upon my heart
I pace the lonely bridge twixt love and hate
Stalked by death's shadow from the very start
Forsaken by the guiding hand of fate

My restless soul sleeps in the tangled thorns
Nursed by the acrid milk of bitter weed
Tormented nightly by old lovers scorned
And haunted by a score of sinful deeds

Pray, take me now to storm the gates of hell
Confront the wicked one and question why
Twas reason for my birth under his spell
To live a loveless life until I die

I curse this lonely life given to me
The fire of hell is all t'will set me free

Sara, My Glimpse of Heaven

Oh, glimpse of heaven’s beauty sent,
To share my love before it’s spent.

To save me from a loveless life,
You’ve sent an angel for my wife.

To join with me down life’s long road,
To share and lighten lifetime’s load.

For joys and problems life doth hold.
We’ll build our love to make us bold.

We’ll do our best in this man’s land,
To serve our God and with Him Stand.

Beautiful

Lusting the passions of a secret desire
Unwinding the mystery of my needs
Funerals are for the future
Internment I ask be deferred
Timeless is my youth
Useless is my request
At seeking eternity or at least eternal rest
End of times may seem long away
Beauty we know fades, it will happen some day

So I dream of youthful moments
Isle graveyards were far away

Holy wars and loveless scores
That a soldier must endure
A desire for peace escapes this generation and more
External forces and internal woes
Death dances at my door

Dedicated to Sara Bernhardt, who slept in her coffin amongst all her love letters.

Remains

Revenge sweet turning with hate
a brother rises striking blows
landing hits brother in wicked deeds
evilness within mans own soul

Cruelty crawling inside desires
suffering greed of nations they plea
Rise up against nations man at war
tearing asunder God's creation
People slowly murdering loveless

Pride a sinful act of violence
laced with pain destroying pure love
everything that once stood out housed peace
so fine cut beautiful, good sharing
caring free, in this one, big show rolls

Keeps turning, the wheel of hope
whom will speak, as we all become part
of his heavenly dust in the end
or burning remains of hell's fire

Love

Love is like a fire
It often expires
A comfort that revives
Your tender soul alive.

A blind joy soaring
The loveless signs ignoring
It rises high with freedom's grace
To spring a blush upon your face.

Love is sweet like antique wine
It breaks the fetters of loveless mind.
Love is loving all the time
Love is a spirit unconfined.

Love is a constant kindness
A joyful untamed madness.
Love jealous not
Or is a selfish glut.

Love is a divine quality
Expressed in purity!

On Finding Love

I long to cup each flushing cheek
My palms to hold her precious face
Her lips mine also wish to seek
With gentle kisses there to place

Be clear the sky no cloud to hide
Delights my heart is plain to see
Though dreariness can push aside
Does naught to halt her mystery

Her mind a magic melting pot
Blue eyes bright, her soul reveals
A spirit that is fiery hot
How easily? My heart, she steals

To hold her close and tenderly
Beneath a dreamy moonlit sky
And when she asks, “Do you love me?”
“With all my heart”, I do reply

Dear Sadness, take your chilly air
Lonely loveless to surround
Go from me and my despair
For my true love, at last, I’ve found

Princess of Courage

In days not long ago lived our princess
gracious, elegant and so beautiful
everyone she met rich, poor she'd impress
a daughter, wife, and mother dutiful,

her oath and vows she took seriously
sadly her true love was never returned
abandoned treated mysteriously
our princesses wellbeing unconcerned,

this loveless marriage and deceit must end
living in London’s pretence with prince John
unwilling to repair her heart nor mend
he was happy to divorce, see her gone,

her life ended in unexplained disaster
sadly there was no happy ever-after.

Alone and Loveless

Wanting to have love,
Yet love always eludes me.
I see the lovers smile.
Tears roll down my cheek.
Knowing that I am alone,
Make the days seem much longer.

All Is Now

The universe of fear emotes a broken feeling,
loveless wastelands could hardly be called home.

Conscious rising dreamscapes, illusory revealing:
the terrified emperor sits naked on his throne.

Such precious time agonizing on his pain,
he can't receive what he refused to give.

With all his pasts and futures preordained,
in timeless boundless love God wills he lives.

A Loveless Love, Or Schrodinger's Love

Deserving all deserts and worth all worths,
My love is admiration’s mirrored whole,
A shadowed shade whose forms do form rebirths,
I’m boldly uncontrolled in her control.
A burning nymph who’s in all fairness fair,
My love’s accounted without frankness frank,
To stress distress she counts my bareness bare
And burns my ardor with a rankness rank.
To hold and not be held is wealthless wealth,
To see and not be seen is sightless sight,
To cure and not be cured is healthless health,
To love and not be loved is lightless light.
A crisp and charming cat sans coyness coy,
My love’s a lifeless life and joyless joy.

Separation

to be so far apart
in so many different ways
brings a hunger to my heart
a sorrow to my soul.
'twas fate dictated our destinies
that we were to be starcrossed
in love.

bittersweet is our portion,
though we did fleetingly taste
of intimacy's pleasures.
that is the one memory we can cling to
like the shipwrecked Odysseus
clutching at a spar.

you have lived locked
in a loveless union too long.
we were drawn together too late
by a force momentarily
too strong to resist.
thus did nature play
its cruel,insensitive trick.

Distant Omens

Distant Omens Augeries of forgotten doubts long erased by hourglass sands shadows passing through an empty space voided by loveless passion hiding in search of an omen. John G. Lawless Give Me A Sign – Poetry Contest 5/14/2015

The Question

I remember the day so very clear.
I was alone for so very long.
Emptyness was my heart untill
you were here.

A dark rose that shed light.
A perfect answer.
To a question unknown from spite.

We found soliace in arms covered in emotional
scars.
You lost in gloom.
I from the bars.

I write to you from the depths of my heart.
That are time is eternal.
Eventhough in this moment we are apart.

That message in a bottle will always read the same.
Julia Elizabeth Loveless.
You have taken my heart now I ask
will you take my name.

I Sat Alone

I sat alone
with the moon
last night – in
the deep dark;
till the dim light
and then
the morrow;

I spoke of Love's enchantment...
of Love's joys, and of loveless
sorrows...

I asked, had she also counted –
with the happy hours –
the many unrequited tears?

Had she kept a few of my own?

For joy and sorrow, does Her Light
show different tone? Or for Her,
is it all the same moan?

Loveless Life

Comfort, luxury and accumulated wealth is nothing
Promise of beauty to the garden is spring in the offing

Separated from soul a body is of no avail
Without love life is not worth living

Lifeless

Lifeless
              Authored by Chuck Keys

I wish she loved me,
anyway,
but some.

The heart needs the up-time
as the soul
needs an echo.

I wish she loved me,
always, maybe forever,
but not never.

Loveless is not an existence;
it is a span of emptiness,
a wasteland.

I miss what I no longer have
as Man needs a God.
Do I?

Destined to alone,
am I alone,
or am I free.

Cut These Days To Pieces

Cut these days to pieces
These days that have made me blue
These days of a neverending purgatory
Made to live my life without you

These are hard days my Love
Made to live alone
Alone with only my thoughts
In an empty loveless home

I look beyond veiled windows
Toward a horizon I cannot see
Toward a day when there will be nothing left
Of the space between you and me

Whisper your thoughts to me
Tell them to the wind
Let her carry them to me
In my dreams when you are home

Shield Me

Shield me from this stain I bear,
remove this filth and smut I wear.
Cover my eyes from the evil truth,
discard these lies and hide the proof.

Guard my heart, these beats of pain,
from this spattered torn, loveless stain.
Protect this tired, worn out soul,
the one who beats out of control.

Defend my honor, grace and trust,
uncoil these spoils, away we must.
Preserve the mutiny, oust the pure,
coral the innocent with your evil lure.

Safeguard the takers, fakers and rest,
loosen the chains around this chest.
Release my dignity, vanity and control,
please shield my heart and cover me whole.

War of the Two Roses

 WAR OF THE TWO ROSES

He bought me a rose He did propose Young and naive Didn’t read the words behind the thieve I now tend to two beautiful roses Infants with smiles that fulfill me so He ran and broke his lovers prose I stand alone holding two red rose I love the little ones who love me so I forgive the man who ran like a foe His battles have left him alone and loveless As I embrace my beauties with life’s justice My heart is full He has none The gardeners love Is never undone I love you two to the ends of the earth Forever and eternity

Loveless

?Let nothing besiege your lame love
Nothing of that sort that's perennial and abiding
That is sure and true and sweet
Like the passion of our archetype martyrs of love

Let nothing serve you as an anchor for your putrid ambience
Obsequieses and ballads and dirges sung by the devil's choir
Are your portion of a serenade of chivalry
Love the one without love and die so

So come from the ascendance of the glorious cosmos
And rub thy foulness with the greed of lucifer
For it is befitting for your souls to love the way love is bought
Not the way love is worth

now must I greet your desire and drain your ample limits

Living Loveless

A breath escapes this lonely soul
jilted sigh expels it heavily falling flat
From on my back I see the stars align
  ...but only in other skies
as charcoal cumulous and birds of prey loom in mine
Each stab wound scars and scathes.
   they accumulate-

Her indifference kills in it's lack of scorn
   or spite...just apathetic attacks
Unprovoked and careless
Inclinations to instigate strife
....to bring flavorful drama to her life...
and misery to mine

I helplessly fall into these traps
seeking out affection in the dryest wells
hitting bottom and licking the stone
for it's scarcest moisture
Parched and living loveless

Love's Bases

Genuine love is loveless
Whereof the heart is beclouded
With mystic, monastic and metaphysical aura
Only minds as deep as the Congo river can contain.

'Tis when fair love subsist
That spiritual, ethical and philosophical
Transcend all mundane forms and allures
That are subject to the acid test of time and change.

'Tis to disdain honeycombs
To find relish in bitter herbs is rare
And have wants and longings lay in catacombs
Beside the sweet amusing bed of roses it is but to dare.

'Tis to know what it is
Love dwells in spirit and not physique
And its form is literal but not imaginative
And its essence not naive but rather philosophical!
