Poetry Is

Poetry is white lights falling upon rainbows and snow
Casual exchanges blinked upon a shared pillow
Lip prints etched inside an antiquated photograph
The obligatory holding of hands as a lost-craft

Poetry is the scent of morning kisses
Words that blossom, an arrow that misses
Umbrellas unopened on a drizzling day
A trail of lovers unable to find their way

Poetry is an evening sparrow chasing the moon
Two silhouettes cascading into a spoon
Roses blown from a closed casket
The loneliness of waiting for her to ask-it

Poetry is the answer to what if and why
Tissues capturing the tears but not the cry
Rubies polishing a heart to an imperfect shine
The undefined likeness of I, Me and Mine

Sorry

"Sorry" doesn't cut it.
Well neither does a butter knife.
I guess I'll have to say "sorry"
For being in your life.
"Sorry" for being black.
And doing what i do best.
Like RAP, BASKETBALL and SWEAT.
Instead of studying for a test.
"Sorry" for being imperfect
"Sorry" for getting sick
"Sorry" for being a man
"Sorry" for makin' you tick
There are some things you cannot change
Like color and heredity.
There's one thing I forgot to say.
"Sorry" for bein' me.

This is sort of a sarcastic poem. I love me. :)

The Perfect Woman

All women are perfect my heart knows better than you, be it mom, wife or daughter perfect they are, this is very true. Just look around you and see, there can't be imperfection in them perfectly they are doing their roles, to find imperfection is a shame. It is not that they are imperfect, it is the way we look at them give little more respect and love, see how they glitter like gems! Invisible

Ignorant to the favoritism; a desire to be special too
Naïve to all the sarcasm and criticism; finding it easy to subdue
Validity still not broken as I feverishly try to understand
Insanely searching for something; waiting upon your command
Silence numbs my body; reaching out for a delusion to hold
Imperfect vanishing appearance; a love so wrongfully cold
Brazen on the outside; while dying on the inside all alone
Love is all I ever yearned for; not this affection carved in stone
Eagerly waiting for a sign; will you see, or are you forever blind?

Ignoring Love

She loves to
ignore me.
Does she love me?
Yes I believe so, our love
is imperfect -like most, predicated on
imbalance, a victim of
poor timing, but living the old
lie of immortality…..is it really
an untruth? Is it mortal?
Will it one day die? I pray not.
At the end of all of it and everything
-it’s all I can give,
deathless love is rare, I have nothing
greater to offer, a love that will
outlive my life, outlive all things…..
I need to refocus, this doesn’t matter,
you see –she still ignores me.
I think she takes pleasure in it,
she does it so well.
Does she love me?
…..I think so, maybe

Measure Me, Treasure Me

Measure me fairly, if you must
but gauge me now, before I'm dust
For when I'm gone, I'll seem ideal
though that'd be far, from what was real
So better then to see me truly,
assess me closely, regard me coolly
You'll see my good, you'll see my bad
you'll see me happy, you'll see me sad
And if you love me, you'll accept
I'm but a man and imperfect
With all my flaws and talents too,
you'll see in me, what's seen in you
A caring, kind and gentle treasure,
if love for you, is what you measure

An Empty Heart

A friend’s burden is not your own
Your ears may tire of bending
But blessed be the one who cares
     With love and guidance sending

Friendship is a two way street
     People are imperfect
A burden shared is a great gift
To one in need and searching

Forgive a friend, see their value
     Help them if you can
Don’t live with an empty heart
In a gray world without friends

Perfect

If only we were perfect,

Perfect minds
  in perfect bodies
hearts full of love and understanding
  complete and whole
   one
  with the universe at large;
we are a people lost
  imperfect
with deaf ears
      that forget how to listen
with blinded eyes
      that refuse to see
these human hearts and unseen souls
  forgo the mysteries of life
living for
  something more, someone greater
than we are
  and so we remain struggling
imperfect beings.

Perfection exists
in a most imperfect place.
I thank God for you.

What Youth Doesn'T Know Or Care To Know

Oh, how we keep
adjusting
the level of our
expectations
as, age, sickness, and
loss of dreams
take their toll.
You ask what it matters,
if you do not graduate.
Truth to tell, little,
in these times,
in this society.
School is only one
small measure of success,
imperfect at that.

But for a mother,
whose life has been
a weary negotiation
between poverty
and expectations,
the apparent success
of her children
becomes the last measure
of a life's value.

You, in your determination
not to have anyone
judge the value
of your young life
until you hit your
high expectations
refuse to give
one small gift
to one that has lost hers

Bad Influence

Have you ever seen a good girl gone bad
Is it wrong to try to put someone on the right path
Have you ever known a young boy that turn mad
Do you know what it's like to have a corrupt heart

Can you picture yourself being a imperfect flower
No one would want to be next to you
The bees would disown you for your color
And you wouldn't know what to do

They say love can be a spiritual path
But to me love is not good for the heart
It can be so influence like alcohol
And lead to your downfall

No one plan to follow a bad influence
Its those who care does leave a impact in a sense

Perfect Lover

Old habits
die hard,
yet I find
I’ve relinquished
my search for
a perfect lover
to focus on
maintaining this
imperfect love
with you.

Just As I Am

Just As I Am
________________________________

I'm a diamond in the rough,
where as I'm pretty to look at,
I have rough edges that cut deep
Hold me under a mag glass to see my flaws
 see, I told you
not what you thought was perfection, huh?
So what shall you do with me now
has my value to you dropped
do I not mean as much
are you embarrased to have me
or will you hold me like the true gem I am
like I was meant to be
unpolished, shining in certain lights, broken
 perfectly imperfect
and yet you love me anyways
  just as I am.

Sonnet 36 'Ne'Er Was There Wife, Nor Love, More Pure Than Thou'

Ne'er was there wife, nor love, more Pure than Thou,
Spontaneously funny, innocent,
Heartfelt, who had no harm, nor malice -- how
Delightful, every hour with you I spent!
In earnest, clean, your thoughts and motives were,
Imperfect, and impatient, willful, strong!
As lovely, purple lilies in wind stir,
But not as lovely, the impatient gong
That called you to Ascend the Crystal Stair.
Ne'er were there eyes as clear, dark, twinkling, 'mused
Nor hair as thick, soft, full as flax - despair
Encloses me like dark about me fused,
When I remember you have upward gone,
Yet all these gifts burst in my heart, like song!

Scars

SCARS

Show me one who does not evolve
And I'll show you the grave.
A chemical reaction that comes and goes is love,
so is heartbreaks which turns your fire off;
Causing life scars and memoirs,
inducing painful ecstasy and tremors.
Are scars ugly and imperfect?
Mine's not; they never go away like life's precept
but keep waging like the windstorm.
To mortality, imperfection is a norm,
Today's bruises similitude to tomorrow are mere token.
Scars are not reminders of what's been broken
but rather, of what's been regenerated:
The EVOLUTION of being is created.

If Emotion Had Color

if what we do
if what we did
if our emotions
had colors
that we could see
what color would we be
dark red with passion
bright red with love
black with anger
or a mixture of colors.
what color is your heart
is it perfect
for your body
or is it imperfect
for your soul.
if emotion
was colored
who would
you be?

Picture Imperfect

Smile
I miss you baby
The sound of your voice
The way you say my name
The I love you and you are beautiful
The way you sometimes make fun of my accent
I want to hear your laugher which makes me giggle
The random declarations of past discretions
The fact that you think I am funny
The glimpse of your brilliance
The sound of your voice
I miss you my love

Human Fleshlings

Human Fleshlings
Imperfect flesh
Fantasy perfection

Love is all we need
Yet all we want is greed

We seek perfection to plant our seed
We expect them to follow our lead

We’re full of sin
How can we expect to win?

Self Love

Sometimes it’s okay to fall
Sometimes it’s okay to let your heart take the call..
Sometimes it’s okay to shout,
Sometimes it’s okay to let the world be the reason for your doubts.

Don’t judge yourself with an eye of another,
‘Cause they cannot see your glow.
Its not your fault that you fell,
With burden of society’s goals.

Not every competition has to be won,
Not every medal has to be gold.
Start prioritising yourself,
Start seeing purity in your soul.

Love yourself like there is no tomorrow,
‘ Cause at the end you will have only yourself.
Make your flaws a part to be loved,
Be perfectly imperfect.

Imperfect Lover

Loook again,
You're wrong in this: If,
You think you're all out thriving
Just to find something illusive
You blindly call perfect love, and
An invisible being called perfect lover.

Love never stays.
It incessantly grows, blindly
harbours at no already-set hearts of
those who have visually felt filled.
Thus, perfect lovers never exist.

Love is always new in many ways,
filling the empty looking souls, growing
from seconds to years...and then ages,
and true lovers grow along.

You won't be there, but following, for
only traces of a perfect lover are real.

But, it's more than enough.
Loving lovers imperfectly grow,

and a true lover is never perfect.

The Winds of Time - Collaboration With Darren White:

The winds of time settling in one's own mind, Clarity of the past will dissipate, In the winds that blow you may be inclined, To find yourself standing there with your fate. Like the pollen in a flower, waiting, For life without yearning would be shallow, On thin ice we all find ourselves skating, We must treasure every moment, hallow. Soft bells will chime, a peaceful melody Serenity inside, accept a life Imperfect, yet with highs, with love, you see? It's how we are, all we can do is strive And washing over you are waves of calm The peace you find inside a soothing balm

Imperfect I

I had to crawl to learn to walk
Same way
I had to fall so as to stand
Getting involved in mistakes
Learning never to miss taking heed
Born in sin
Beyond what is seen
I never meant to hurt anyone
Because I cleansed my heart for everyone
My actions do not define me
Just a manifestation of thoughts in the inner
me
I may be right
Sounds alright
I may be wrong
But I am getting strong
In whatever you think is good
Remember people have already stood
Where you are
In what you go through
Be not quick to judge
Let sleek ideas merge
To love all does not cost
If it does, all is lost
Let us strive
To revive
For us to
survive!

Engagement Ring

He woke up one day and called it quit,
The perfect engagement ring suddenly doesn’t fit,
The sugarcoated promise I strenuously held close to my heart
Became sour and bitter for I am nothing but a disposable, easily replaceable critter.
I’m imperfect, impulsive and emotionally driven,
I disappointed you at every chance given.
And if you hugged me tight I'd burst into tears,
I'd spill my secrets and my worst fears.
Why blame you when I can reflect your rejection upon myself?
How can I expect you to love me when I don’t even love myself?

Ghost Theory

she made of me a being of floor
quite a small walker in the sky
a researcher in the scream of angel

I am the imperfect where the mouth speaks
I am the ugly because the soul is quiet

and the rest of my theory
my small prose of the arguments

unsaid
cursed

for the love of the faithful love

My Beautiful Angels

*****************************************************************

Never knowing that your beauty were gazing from afar; imagine....

Watching myself love you throughout the years; amid silent whispers

Wondering now if ever I touched your heart; stumbling to fall then to rise

Once more as pages turned and love waltzed on; time and time again ~

Yet for all of this I am more than grateful that my heart was truly beheld

This measure; while I turn toward the stars and you dance within my soul

Know, that I love You ever the more; tis my lifes imperfect song for You....
