Thanksgiving 2020

Thanksgiving 2020

Thanksgiving 2020
Has finally shown its face
The virus is still with us
And the presidential race

Today we should be careful
With our family and friends
Gathering within our households
Not throwing caution to the winds

We should send our love to others
Through prayers and cyber space
To protect ourselves from Covid
To be smart is no disgrace

Thanksgiving will be better
In the future years to come
It's not unpatriotic
To not be thought as dumb

Far Away Valentine

He’s right next to me but so far away
Hurts from youth left him this way
He’s full of love and strength and pure
But failing parents was too much to endure

He dare not be close
At least not too close
The hurt was too strong
As he tagged along

Pulling on his mothers shoulder
Wanting his dad
Torn between two households
He never had

Running off to do sports
Never bonding with thee
Wish this hurt was’t so deep
As it leaves me

Alone but together
In a world all my own
Full of kisses one minute
I feel like a clone

Wanting to be closer
Wanting the warm touch of desire
Wanting to be wanted
For that I’m on fire
