culture, people, race,
I approach her with the same
Love I approach my family with.
Her skin is black.
I try to speak a few words in her
Native language to welcome her.
Her skin is brown.
I married a Chinese/Hawaiian
and our child is beautiful.
His skin is yellow/brown.
I write poetry about the Native
Americans to celebrate them.
Their skin is red.
I fit in with every race because
My color contains all colors.
My skin is white.

inspirational, life, nature, peaceeaster,
I stand upon our Makakilo hill
And gaze toward the valley calm and still.
The brilliant sun will soon be rising high
Morphing rays of gold in the twilight sky.
The clouds are rimmed in light as Sol ascends.
Another day in paradise begins—
As birds begin their chorus in the trees
Our flag waves softly in Hawaiian breeze.
A floral scent embraces humid air
Of heaven's divine fragrance sweet and fair.
I love to rise before the dawn each day
Enriched by nature's wonders as I pray.
I see the good in all mankind and know
That peace will come to nations as we grow.
(non-traditional Sonnet)
Happy Easter to Everyone!

death, home, lost love, love, missing you,
You were my home
My refuge,
My place of peace,
My protection,
My Hawaiian
Melody
Where love always
Welcomed me
With a warm hug,
A knowing gaze,
A celestial
Connection
Where our words
Were not needed.
A place where
Understanding
And acceptance
Dwelled within
A huge beating
Humble heart
That was in
Rhythm with mine.
So Divine!
Then sadly you died.
Now I am homeless.

memory,
I am climbing up Diamond Head Crater
on a cool, overcast, great Hawaiian day.
Memories stretched to thirty years younger
when in the center thousands came to play.
When optimism and joy ran rampant
and all possibilities could be touched.
When parents, two sons and an infant
daughter came to sit in an era drenched
in blood and love, colorful flags and beads.
Baby girl was baptized before the crowd,
who are now long lost in space and deeds.
An era that saw the edge and bowed
out for comfort and affluent digs.
Leaving us grey ghosts to wander in kiawe twigs.

LOVE IN THE WHITE OF NIGHTS
With storms my passions dance and play
As winter swirls above our heads
Sleep's embraces grab you tight
Hawaiian visions crowd our bed
Deep in frosty winds of night
While you are dreaming balmy skies
I trace the beauty of your back
And lick the whiteness of your thighs
Sometimes you smile,
sometimes you groan
But it’s my delight
to hear your moan.
I snatch you from that ivory shore
And wake you begging me for more

cheer up, life,
Pour that second glass of wine
savour that dark chocolate --
do a boogie down the street
laugh with the wind
learn to zipline,
wear Hawaiian shirts
or fall in love all over again.
While you're living
spontaneous life happens
so, cradle the moment.

love,
There’s music in the wind
As I muse the sexiest piece of my life…
Veiled with love, faith, hopes and dreams
The Kubo (hut) now standing tall.
It has fulfilled its loyalty not to share
Events of unlimited joys…
As the Hawaiian sarong fluttered
The language of love shared
The heart raptures with fulfillment
Indescribable life’s SEXY moments…

birthday, happy birthday, i love you, ireland, paradise, princess, romantic,
Another year says good bye
Greeting the next when it arrives
Saying hello and hi
Time to give me a try
Life adventure awaits
Go enjoy that husband and wife date
Bring on the new
Where there is so much to do
Only have 365 more
Get started and open the door
Living on the peaceful island
Having the Irish name O'Brien
Receiving flowerily leis that are Hawaiian
Aloha birthday wish
During the romantic dish
Proclaiming to love a Coast Guard
Protecting the state that is the 50th star
All the best Happy Birthday Jana
Love always

cute love, kiss, summer,
Teened and tan,
Walking along gravel paths
with you holding my hand.
The sun so lovingly warm
Blessing our innocence.
The sound of Lake Como's
waves blessing the sand.
Your Hawaiian shirt open,
Your chest magnificently tan.
In a train caboose people
used as a resting place,
'twas inside.....
That you and I shared a hug
and our first summer kiss.
Tis but a shimmering memory,
but nonetheless, of complete
and utter happiness.
The glory of the flowers that
surrounded that caboose..
Adds to these musings and
these ever free thoughts so
eternally vivid~~in memory.

love,
It was a casual July evening
I was with my bestie, Jake.
There was a tiny campfire, showing our faces
he wore a Hawaiian shirt
I had a pink orchid in my hair
I did not mean to fall in love with him,
but how could I not?
When Jake ook out the ukulele and sang, I was a goner
His hazel eyes had a sparkle I had never seen before
Had it been there all along?
Is this something I had missed for the past six years?
It mattered not now
It was summer
We were on a Hawaiian beach
A terrific place to fall deeply in love
with my best friend
