Homeless Mans Love For His Daughter

A homeless man played his guitar,
for coin rewards put in a jar.
A lonely life he always led,
but in his heart a love he had.
This love he thought of all the time,
during the cold days brought sunshine.
His songs were of a girl he loved,
he sang to her, with stars above.
So many years had gone on by,
but in his heart, and reasons why.
There was this hope that would not die,
the thought of her just made him cry.

Dedicated to my
daughter Ashley...

curvaceous

my fingertips
touch ...
tender, but with melodic intent
you tremble
just SO ...
and sigh sweetly
the delightful answer
to my questioning hands
a gentle press ...
your supple curves against me
fitting me like dovetail
your quivers ...
soft-thrumming my flesh
matching your moans
the hushing pulse of your body
urges me on ...
your swan-like neck
satin beneath my hot palm
as it moves lower
pressing ...
deft digits dancing across you
like a wild Spaniard
we are ... one
our purpose, the same
oh, sing to me now
let my passion be your cry
let our lullabies of love and desire
move souls ...
and ache hearts
my beloved ...
guitar.

A Shining Star

"a shining star"
a shining star you shall always be a jewel in the cosmos that I see like the snow that glistens white like the moon that shines bright you bring out the best in me
when you stand before the ocean blue feel a gentle embrace intended just for you when you see a pearl or shell in the sand know it is me taking you by the hand know your heart and soul will renew
a grand piano or a single guitar a source of strength from afar with words that I have none to give with hope and love may light live a shining star is what you are

Indian Love Song

A Tribute to Slim Whitman

He led his horse towards a pool,
Near a lovely large cotton tree.
Far away, he heard the hooves
Of a thousand bison as they crossed
The dusty prairie in search of food.

Near at hand stood a large tepee
From where his lovely Indian emerged.
Dark hair, dark eyes. a beauty beyond compare.
She smiled but stood erect at the doorway.

Instantly, he lifted his guitar.
And in a yodel tune, he sang his love.
How oft he repeated his refrain,
"You belong to me,
I belong to you."
Finally, he put down his guitar.
Slowly, he approached her,
Tilted her lovely face up,
Their lips met in a sweet, lingering kiss.

My Guitar

My Guitar weeps
And not so gently
It strings together broken tears
It has seen my feeble attempts at love

My Guitar laughs
As I try to serenade
A song that lovers play
It strings together broken romances

My guitar sleeps
For I am not doing to well
In charming your heart
My guitar is bored

My guitar kills me
And steals my girl
They were meant to be it seems
They joined chords and sang

The funeral was brief
The music was good
Guitar music after all
Now they travel onwards

Musical journeys
With not a thought of me
With no guitar
As the ghost of me weeps

I need your love

I need your love when life seems lame,
behind each sigh I call your name.
In silent slumber when in pain,
you shelter me in misty rain.
Emphasize that I'm not to blame.

When I'm weary and full of shame.
Cajole my heart, so it can tame.
Stop my mind from feeling insane.
I need your love.

I will sing a song to exclaim
and strum my guitar to proclaim
how your support keeps my thoughts sane.
Like lilacs your voice soothes the strain.
I'm etching your words to reclaim
I need your love

Tropical Paradise

Birds doth fly above the sky,
flowers fair and nigh;
as the sun comes shining by,
wet white sand to dry.

Soft the breeze from gentlest seas,
sweetly strums guitar;
lassie sings of love and sees
sailor from afar.

Music Man, Music Man

Music man, Music man
Your loving guitar in hand
Your music was my downfall
Taking my heart, taking my all

I fell in love with your words,
Grew addicted to your rhythm.
The sorrow in your burning chords,
Drew me in with them.

I felt your music flow through me
Getting lost, carried away
In your songs, in your dreams
As I listened to you play

Music man, Music man
Your loving guitar in hand
Your music was my downfall
Taking my heart, taking my all

Music man, Music man
Your loving guitar in hand
Your music was my downfall
Taking my heart, taking my all

I Love To Sing

I love to sing about my God
And what He's done for me
Sing His praise with lyrics
Just like poetry.

Strumming my twelve string guitar
Singing songs to Him that's new
Proclaiming how great He is
That's what I love to do.

Maybe one day I could sing with you
Whever you may be
And praise the name of Jesus
Praise Him you and me.

If you want to hear my songs
And your sitting there at home
Don't delay any more
Just pick up the phone.

Not Said With Words

Heart all aflutter when she looks in my eyes
Thoughts deep inside me of claiming the prize
An intimate lesson, I teach her guitar
My arms are around her, she's forming the bar
My hand covers her hand and together we push
Til the notes resound cleanly and efforts produce
An elegant love song played effortlessly
Conveying through music that in which we agree

Instrument of Love

Play me in the morning before I've time to dress.
Play me softly. I will be your lute.
Hold me to your lips. . . and lightly press.

Should you see me in the afternoon,
pick me up, and I will be your harp.
Caress my strings and hear my angelic tune.

In the evening, come on playfully.
I'll be busy in the kitchen, but a tambourine
I'll be for you as I sway my hips! Jingle-jangle me!

But at night, I want to be your fond guitar.
First cradle me; then stroke me with your passion.
Feel me vibrate with delight as I sing and glisten like a star.

A Personal Attack

Now if I shoot at you with live ammo that's personal,
Words just don't hack it, most thoughts too bizarre
To attribute to anything short of dementia,
With colors that dribble, fake tears! Spayed guitar!

Sounds so high strung with guts, from such different cats,
Tones all bounce off life’s rails more like temper’s distemper.
What cue ball can't sink are your colors to choose,
But consider largesse to be caveat emptor.

The precision you see here's designed to confuse you,
For order is something most men can't abide,
But the devil take foremost, ‘who’s first,’ most deserving
A cinch that there's nothing to trump – more than pride!

My Guitar

Six strings that speak to me
Of love and anguish
That talk to my soul
About things of the heart
Lift my spirits when times are low
Speak the words I want to say
To those that mean the most
Bring joy to those who are feeling down
Move my feet to dance
My arms to wave
My voice to raise in joy
When times are dark
They speak of light
And celebrate the important things in life
Bring together black and white
Help fight the Lord's good fight
Deliver valentines to those you love
Break hearts with messages of lost love
Paint a picture, tell a tale
Make you laugh or cry
But one thing's constant
Those six strings they speak to me.

John Lennon

30 years have now passed,
but your words still last.
Across decades, your memory has span,
and you were above all, a simple man.

Peace and love is all you said.
For you, a million tears were shed.
Your tragedy was felt worldwide,
your death made the world coincide.

Imagine all the world, living for today,
you brought us together, in this beautiful array.
Even though your body is no longer here,
your message echos forever, across this sphere.

You were a dreamer, but not the only one,
we are carrying on the movement, you begun.
I hope you are at peace, where ever you are,
I hope to hear in heaven, you playing the guitar.

Squirting Sonnets

Deep bass breaths blue soothing strong
Play me like Picasso piano all night long
Nibbles at my ear are a peach love song
So dear my heart cheers stringing me along

My knees melt like Swiss cheese
You fill all my gold holes
Fuchsia feelings like destiny
Embraces my heart jumpstart my soul

I am a sandy song
Which you determine kinetic key
Like guitar play teal thong
Make a romantic red melody

Let’s break burgundy rules
Play them like a bugle
Use pink passion as a tool
Use tongue to draw pink doodle

When the fat lady sings
You know that she felt sun
Never mind about denim dreams
She squirts sonnets just for fun

Smiley Face

When there's a smile on my face
It means you're on my mind
I think about you often
Almost all the time
And when I don't the reason is
As simple as this seems...
I fell asleep and waking thoughts
Have shifted into dreams

Dreams where you and I are now
In France, or on a beach,
Or sitting by a fireplace
In a cabin out of reach
Together watching snowflakes fall
With music soft and low
The nearest other person
Is on the radio

A fiery, pastel sunset
A song by Sarah J.
One guitar played with four hands
Let's try that out one day
For all these thoughts and dreams I have
Come when I think of you
There's no one else who makes me smile
Quite the way you do

With You Forever

Calm as the still waters
Breezy as autumn's dew
your eyes depict the skies

Right here in your love's prison
I'll serve my life sentence
I'm tempted with no reason
To be out of your presence

In my love's galaxy
You are the brightest of all the star'
Your love is soothing
Like tunes from a guitar
I'll be with you till the end of time
My love for you will never expire.

Devil's Hidden Ranch

DEVIL'S HIDDEN RANCH

Coyote howl, dogs growl
Gunshots, dead cow
Red barn left unlock
Horseshoe upon death's door
Tequila in a cup
Salt of cocaine, shadows of insanity
Guitar string, sad song
Bandit near the door, wife on the floor
Hallucinating---Reality
Yelling out her name, he's gone insane
Loaded gun, life is done
Far and near ending his intoxicating fear
The road under the sun
A coward in his path
Responding to the Devil's wrath

In a Hidden Ranch in Mexico!!!!!!

My Spanish Guitar

Oh My Spanish Guitar
Let me forget all my pain
Let me listen to your meldoy
Day or night I wouldn't complain

Let me follow your rhyme
Smile with my closed eyes
Let me dance even if it rains
My feelings with your music always rise

Oh My Spanish Guitar
My fingers wants to feel you so bad
My eyes want to fall a sleep
Just by holding you in my hand

Let me gently attack your frets
With tendency let me play with your chords
Let the string buzz like a happy bee
Let the heart feel the fretboard

Oh My Spanish Guitar
you decide what you want to do
I could die and you are in my arms tonight
I could chill till life time with you

Dance of the Seasons

Dance me through the springtime
To the sound of a twelve string guitar;
Dance me through the terror
When I don't know where you are.
Dance me through the summer
With red roses in your hair;
Take me through the wind and storm
Plant your kisses everywhere.
Dance me through the autumn
Let your body touch my mind;
You are my only lover
And I see you though I'm blind.
Dance me through the winter
When both of us will cry;
And your eyes are filled with sorrow
When we both must say goodbye.

teardrops appeared on my tablet
on both sides of the glass
mine on top
hers underneath,
shed from miles away

which was which
who was where
did not matter
any longer

real or virtual,
all merged into one
- a brook of joy
running through the valley of time
destined for
unchartered pleasures

Moonlight Serenade

Mark Halliday
Enchantment through A Prism contest
24 December 2014

Soft moonlight
Reflects off my guitar
As I wait for you 'neath your window.
I spy your shadow silhouetted by a light.
Taking a deep breath, I start to sing and finger my guitar;
An air of unrequited love, and the sadness of life in the shadow.
