Butterflies

They flutter and hover
And float on the breeze.
They shiver and shimmer
And weaken the knees.
Fickle and fragile,
They tickle and tease.
Fleeting and flimsy,
Deceptively free.

These frivolous creatures,
These knots of desire.
Once spindles of yearning,
Now spools of barbed wire.
Once pulling like petals,
Now pricking like briar.
Once soothing like honey,
Now burning like fire.

Violently thrashing,
It struggles to rise.
The truth comes up gasping
From whirlpools of lies.
Shed this charade
And discard your disguise.
I know you enjoy
Drowning blind butterflies.

I kissed the Moon

I kissed the moon tonight, enveloped with quartz amulets of Luna as luminous streams of stars paint my poetic sky glazed in citrine dust tracing rain dews in your eyes to cleanse these scars I hide within teal rivers, swiftly ferrying lanterns whilst wishing upon the Milky Way that your cosmic rhymes would save my aching soul from drowning , so take my heart, engrave love

To She: Drawn To Thy Beauty {quatrain}

Drawn to thy beauty, grace rains down;
I choose this drowning than a drought –
Where ten thousand are called mine own;
Yet, deny thee and live without.

Skilled not enough to understand;
     Words unheard, find their voice through thee;
As I reach out then find thy hand;
I see light take darkness from me.

Chaos knits together unity:
     Thoughts run free, once captive in chains;
Cleansed from fear in thy purity;
Would I leave, canceling such gains?

'distant Star'

You want to fade away?
Want to be that distant star
That brings about perplexity

It’s not who you are
You were never intended to be
Just a distant star
Your light shines through
Without you knowing

Those around you feel your warmth
Others see it,
Others wonder; in amazement
What creates the radiance?

The vivacity,
Your natural glow
Like a second skin –

You encompass
Without drowning those around you

Adequate provision to make them feel
The wealth of being treasured
Without losing their identity

Fading away is impossible

You shine without being overbearing
Just enough to make everyone feel loved

Grip To Hope

A desire of truth only his pleasant warmth can provide comfort. As I age tears and disquiet are my reward. I'm saddened by reality. I, an old brittle woman has lost sketched from memory, crystal sparks adoring our life all replaced with winter's sleep and loneliness. For I am weak, searching, reaching for what is, really is. Drowning, struggling through the chilly winds with aching darkness. Day after dark day, my home, a sealed coffin; in a bitter resentment detestable world. Crazed, I gaze out at verge of night at the gnarled sky and beyond and grip to hope unwilling to let go. 1/13/2020

Brainstorm

From an insufferable, unceasing rain of disappointment, I try to hide my scars under the cloak of a smile. Alas, this master of disguise, fools but one. My dreams are like a reverent prayer that's lost its relevance to love. Shrouded in ominous clouds of deception, I am a refugee of doubt with no joy in reality. I wade through poems that never rhyme, from memories that never mend. I cower from this rumbling squall of loneliness and shrink from the shards of misdirected words. The mantle of hope escapes my ambitions, forever silencing my courage. I am drowning in discontent. Brainstorm Contest Sponsored by John Hamilton 10/16/2018 1st. Place

Running Tide

Knee deep in surf
The water clung to her
Changing silk gown
To wrinkled shiny skin
Never had I envied ocean water so
But then t'was I who'd let her go
Drowning in green eyes
With fear of clinging ties
Holding me back

Muted Love

Not this day No My mouth shall not say The words that linger Trailing broken syllables From memory bay Without meaning I cannot form them Even as I pray Turning in guttural acidic taste By bitter bile way Fumbling resentment Phrase to phase With no sway from sentiment Shall I dare? Shall I say? Nay! Struggle thought Drowning heart turned grey Oh how heavy they drag And scuff the floor from their weight I look at them there in utter dismay Clutching my heels as I walk away I left them there Begging! Just as they left me that day Those words... Once meant for you That I will NEVER again say

Will You Let Me In

Whispers at dawn I awaken near your yawn Will you let me into your heart? Dreams of passion I need your compassion This will be our sensuous start Falling in love all we need is a shove Will you let me into your arms? Breakfast for two your love I will chew I’m drowning in your lucky charms Side by side our love will preside Will you let me into your essence? Through forever always together Within warming skies of iridescence In circles of infinity we are divinity Will you let me into your soul? Through timeless space I will embrace Our love sailing in a black hole. Aug.16.2017 Let Me Into Your Heart Sponsored by: Julie Rodeheaver

If Only We Could Turn Back the Hands of Time

I can't forget those days when you were mine.
How young we were - not even at our prime!
Had we held on, could love have grown divine?
If only we could turn back the hands of time.

What could have been? I guess we'll never know.
Although I've never been caught in a crime,
a crime it was that day I let you go!
If only we could turn back the hands of time.

While drowning in my memories of you,
I sit in silence while I write this rhyme
and wonder if you think the same thing too -
if only we could turn back the hands of time!

Life Is So Precious and For It One Must Fight

Life Is So Precious And For It One Must Fight

When heart has been crushed, sorrow is all one knows
Pain becomes crushing, world delivers constant blows
Even dawn its glory, wavers and fails to shine
Grapes are withered, falling from a dying vine
Soul looks to Heaven, begs fervently for release
Even in ones sleep at night found is no sought peace
Lost into a darkened wilderness- alone
Searching for answers and away all hope has flown
There in the distance a bright beacon sends its note
Love saves the drowning, as once, an old poet wrote.

When seeking, always look towards the waiting light.
Life is so precious and for it one must fight.

Beauty of You

Engaged in the beauty of you a lilac scent of splendor sent drowning my every thought in the ripples of your rush Float deep into my western sky grab hold of this fluid destiny and smother my spirit with your demure simplicity and innocence Laisse mes lèvres sur ton cœur

- Belissima : Amore -

I like a good conversation ~ about love and life
An objective opinion or a subjective opinion

Belissima ~ Amore
Age does not protect against love
Your sweet smile makes me melt

Yes, I'm incurably romantic
Sweet strawberries with cream vannlije

Belissima ~ Amore
In your eyes rushes my inner thoughts ~ intoxicating
Life is a dream ~ Your smile is like the stars in the sky

It is fate that decides
The important thing is not to find one ~ but finding the right one

Belissima ~ Amore
Your kiss is like drowning in soft chocolate
May I kiss you again

Drowning Deeply In Love

Lips touch the tip of morning with the awakening
             of thine eyes,
           accompanied
           by inexhaustible
            thoughts of only
             you. Drifting away
              from abed, thoughts
              trace in tandem with
             thy body in lost sight
           within the flat-bottomed
         vessel. Water pouring
       down accreting to the
     seductive oils
     forming to
      crystallized
        foam.
          Drowning
            deeply
               in
                 Love.

Drowning

stop pretending you care, you never loved me
but your eyes filled with bliss my every day
i know i'm not her, i'm not trying to be
all my hopes of acceptance will fade away

polite words of love do me harm
stop saying things you dont believe
i could cover my corpse with your arm
but its worthless since you shall deceive

i dont want to admit who you are
the purpose itself is in vain
depressed angels could start war
seeing my dieing reflectons of pain

please tell my weak heart you cant
you are not, you shall never be tru
for,my love,deep dreams i shall haunt
everytime black leaves are drowning in dew

Grief and Anguish

Selfish pride and bitter feelings,
Tangled up in Satan’s dealings!

Alienation is just simply ruthless,
And will make one feel utterly useless.

When the vulnerable are left alone,
Their grief and anguish will cause them to moan!

Darkness becomes the abandon’s ark;
Fear and torment begins to embark!

The heart that lies within all men,
Needs true forgiveness now and then!

Apologies and gracious surrounding,
Will save a man from a senseless drowning!

Grace and love: Christ is our example,
in each one of us, we have ample!

Pulsating Sigh

his excited bright eyes, his laughter, the puckish way he draws me in. the moonspun prize he sought after — roses, champagne, candlelight…he wins. dawn in afterglow, birdsong on breeze, silent shadows billowing…lovers drowning in two cups of coffee…bright-zanthous trees in morning sun, yawning leaves, bare skin. salutations of solitude cleaving, breath to breath, before unbridling the door. perch of our souls, pulsating sigh, weaving its ebb and flow climax to the shore. 7/10/2021 What Makes You Sigh Sponsor: Chantelle Anne Cooke

Fully Booked 1

Seduced by the selective solitudes...I pick one
I chose the 100th... amongst the sacrificial setting sun
Frost filled frozen forests...forever frowning
As my breath spreads thru the vastness...forever drowning

Tic toc tic toc...my thoughts trapped in an elliptical time
100 years of solitude... panegyrical punishment for my crime

What am I guilty of?...daring to...Love!

Coma

want to lie here forever
in this place where you never leave
hidden here for so long
fate made you breathe
made me find you all over again

to wake is to hurt
unconscious is comfort
where i never have to let you go

forever is not long enough
i will hold you till time can no longer be measured
till we both forget that this isn't reality
till I no longer have to wake from sleep

drowning in this coma
water composed of you
won't fight the waves
won't hold my breath
just let go into you
so i never have to let you go again

Greens of Spring

Greens of spring

Comes in spring, bloom the greens,
Perfect hues mark flawless screens,

Tender buds now yearn to thrive,
Bees are seen humming on their hive,

Colourful butterflies anxiously flutter,
Flowers eagerly lend their nectar,

Little ones play jolly in the streets,
Sky waits for birds to fly in fleets,

Vibrant shades entice a green eye,
Hurry the gloomy clouds, dolour belies,

Calls of spring, beloved will meet,
Drowning in love, hazel green eyes will greet !

Where Do I Begin? Again

eyes wide open
but sightless in thought
held captive by gravity
but weightless in pursuit
of a love lost
so suddenly rekindled
this flickering flame
where do i begin? again

does she still feel the same?
it's more intense
than when the first time
i came
eyes wide open
but sightless in ecstasy
deep water
i'm drowning
my lungs fill
my eyes roll back
in my head
dead to the world
resurrection in her bed
is this where it
ended last?
how do i avoid
the recurring past?
where do i begin? again

You Cling To Hope

Unrequited love is shallow; lacking depth, it cannot float dreams. Yet, you will forego happiness for a lifetime of silent screams. Both tormentor and destroyer, doubt devastates your sense of pride. A heart that craves a love denied will wilt and slowly die inside. Wishes attack reality; striking with irrational force. Unattainable dreams fuel frustration, anger, and remorse. Truth defines the expectations and anticipations of youth. And yet, you have fallen in love; acknowledging no other truth. Feeling lost, nothing seems real; drowning in tears, you cling to hope. Yet rejected hearts tend to break; finding it difficult to cope.
