Sunset

Long shadows calm the ripples, sooth the edge
As sunrise bows its head, completes its pledge
In orange flash of daylight’s passing spark
Full blush for lover’s need of passion’s dark.
.
Bullfrogs will croak and dragonflies alight
As you reframe the embers of the night
We will return again as moment’s must
For memories are but the lies we trust.

Fact Or Fiction

Do you believe every single word I write?
Is it fact or fiction when my pen is in full flight

I’ve written of heartbreak - guess that’s happened to most of us
About abuse, and being an alcoholic - if this really happened to me I’d cuss

Written poems on farting, falling in love and so many more
Of butterflies and dragonflies, even a poem about a door

If my words touch you or you think that they ring true
Comment on my poem and I’ll do the same back for you

Burning Light

Burning light In night; Calls moths To cloths. Moon glows Moth woes; Bugs alight With delight. Bugs fly Light shine; In dark Pine park. Creek rolls Water flows; Dragonflies Wing by. Night life No strife; Bugs grow Tenfold. Daylight No flight; Right bugs Grass rug. Daylight Colors fly; Palette Colors bright. Nature Has cure; Boredom For some. Others love The bugs; For them It’s enough.

Summer Morning

A glorious summer morning…
Nature Observing…
A breath taking motion picture feature…
Love greetings between earth’s creatures…
No thoughts pinning on yesterday…
Joyfully exploring this new day…
Dragonflies circle in perfect rings…
Birds soaring, roaming delighted to sing…
Butterflies wander with a simple flutter…
A subtle cool breeze stimulates the leaves with a shutter…
The sun’s warm hug initiates fruitful growth…
Radiant flowers sharing a simple truth…
Allow the inner beauty to shine through…
I sit here fully adoring…
A glorious summer morning…

Spirit of Flight

See the flight of a Hummingbird,
wings to fast to see.
Hovering almost weightlessly,
for the nectar of the tree.

See the flight of Eagles,
riding thermals,so very high.
Searching for the evening meal
I love to hear them cry.

See the flight of dragonflies,
they're here and then they're there.
The colors of the rainbow,
floating in the air.

See the flight of the Osprey,
circling the sea.
To catch himself a tasty fish,
to feed his family.

See the flight of Human Spirit,
no limit how high we'll go.
The power that drives our human wings,
comes from deep within our soul.

Spirits

When spirits walk On
The surface of the water
They are ripples

When Walking on the land
 They are winds

When flying in the sky
They are larks,
They are dragonflies,
They are hawks

...

When they fall on your heart
They overlook me
With blinking beautiful eyes

Fantasy World

envision a world
of fascination, scent swirled
around me, a sunflower
giant petals gleam
in luscious dream,
Dragonflies, bees frolic in bower!

spread my magic wings,
imagine on a swing
croon songs of angelic love,
heart flutter, flicker,
glimmer, glitter,
am I a fairy soft like a dove!

Cranberry Park

This sky dome
Held by thousands of threads
of sunshine,
Is a musical instrument;

Its sounds pour out when
Life flips its strings;

Dragonflies are the first
to make the light high-pitched tone;

Swallows are next
Rapid, cheerful notes emitted
From their aerodynamic bodies;

Then appears a father pushing the stroller
Carefully and affectionately
A sweet melody starts to fill the air
Resonating within the hemisphere;

This is, seemingly, the first day of Autumn,
And I am filled with light and love

Bear Is Immensely Talented

Bear paints some garden art.
His dragonflies are quick to dart.
We think his canvas looks very smart.
He adds some floral and a red heart.

We think how clever Bear’s painting is.
He is so talented, a real whiz!
We love knowing him says cousin Liz.
He is a darling! His brain doth fizz!

Who else is talented in our family?
Well there is Little LeRoy and Big Aunt Zee.
They both cartoon, and can dance like me.
And I am totally talented said little Bea.

No Story-

Maybe there's little

or no story

tonight

just

the dragonflies

to keep us safe

and warm

protect
me

from love

and keep me

from feeling

cold

and anything

that might feel

new...

Never Can End

Holding the delicate hands of moonlit
I walked through the quixotic garden
Dragonflies flew over the pink flowers
As the starry neon light twinkled fairs

Wandered I sitting on the cloudy boat
Where the sprinkled fogs spread scent
Poetic loving sonnet there recited song
On butterflies’ wings my sleep belonged

No nightmare it’s desired puffing dream
Diamond starry palanquin carries beam
Luscious lips grip the hearts pair in fair
Fertile land of life suits new moon slim

Springtime of dream never can end love
Twin souls date can fly this way as dove

Mulberry Trees And Butterflies

(Mulberry trees talk among themselves
About the butterflies that ignore them)

Butterflies love oaks, elms, and willows; we know.
They play hide and seek with their leaves tinged with snow.
Do they flee from us because we are crook-barked?
Around us, lethargic crows and eagles fly.
They think we cherish their melancholic cry.
Aren't, yet, in their blunt fondness too, our hearts sparked?

Our stems, leaves, blossoms, and fruits are versatile.
Do our toils to feed frail silkworms go futile?
Why should we be tied down by uncertain lures?
Aren't dragonflies and hoverflies precious too?
Shouldn't, to each creature, our concern be true?
Isn't existence beyond all ecliptic blurs?

Growing Tomatoes and Flowers

Elephant ears with a green glow.
Gives nature a magnificent show.
Please visit and stay down below.
One of my plants looks like a sweet bow.
Zinnias, marigolds, roses too.
Sharing their pretty. Each one brand new.

Daisies planted softly in the ground.
More beautiful garden rarely found.
Sunflower’s face so prettily round.
Tiny grasshopper providing sound.
My work is happy. Dirt therapy.
Flowers my main productivity.

Angels, faeries, dragonflies too.
Sit next to pasture where cows go moo.
I have no qualms about what to do.
I’ll also grow tomatoes for you.
Soil so dear; flowers and veggies love it here.

Lady In Waiting Attracts Butterflies

She was a lady in waiting back in the day, merry and gay.
The dressed her in fashionable robes in her heyday.
She is a magnet for butterflies, faeries, dragonflies and moths.
They love her exotic dresses made of silk and rayon cloths.
Butterflies surround her, and faeries prance past her too.
We love her warm colors of pink, lemon, peach, lavender and blue.

Dragonflies In Love

Two dragonflies flying
together as one
in love.

Wings above one another
both going the same way
bodies curved,
joined.

Carrying on with
God's perfect plan,
they do what comes
naturally to them.

They remind me
of one of those
old bi-planes.

Soon there will be
a whole lot
of little ones
flying around.

Existance

Existance

  Existance

I am a man: a pause in God`s plan;
Existance
a creature of habit trying to change;
living yet dying {eating and sighing}
--breathing a name--
~Parme~
Dragonflies are dinosaurs
Yet we have God~s grace,
waiting for Christmas time!
Existance
is a wonderful terrible time
electric discharge of feelings
tears are just streaming
screaming from my face that i love ewe
Existance
laughing and crying at the same time
living and dying but existing in time
wondering no more just who it should be
It has to be thee it has to be ewe.
From me: from my Existance.

Violets

Violets
by Michael R. Burch

Once, only once,
when the wind flicked your skirt
to an indiscreet height

and you laughed,
abruptly demure,
outblushing shocked violets:

suddenly,
I knew:
everything had changed.

Later, as you braided your hair
into long bluish plaits
the shadows empurpled,

the dragonflies’
last darting feints
dissolving mid-air,

we watched the sun’s long glide
into evening,
knowing and unknowing.

O, how the illusions of love
await us in the commonplace
and rare

then haunt our small remainder of hours.

To a Son

They told me there is much to know
And wisdom comes with age
Well, I was old long years ago
And knew a boy who was a sage
And, oh, he taught me many things,
To listen when the warbler sings
And see the sun trapped in the wings
             Of Dragonflies.

He taught me how to love a son
And how to treat a wife
And how a mother's heart is won
And how a man re-shapes his life
To shield a child from want and pain.
When he and I walked in the rain
My world was fresh and green again
             Through his young eyes.

Mythical Moon By Day

As dragonflies squint in the rayless night. My glimmer of whimsy embraces flight. Yet faith wanes, and enthusiasm is slight. As lambency falters—the horizon is bleak. In a stupendous stupor—drifting on the creek. All my hopes and wishes were dubious. The path to gloat is fraught with malicious. Each stage entailed making us furious. My whimsy used to be—as bright as a rainbow. Overall, they're vanishing - along with the glow. Moon by day is superb, and myths delight. Gibbous and full moons are rich and unique. Crest of soft verve in love delirious Moon by day tells us of how our might blow.

Dragonflies and Hearts

SUCH A DAY
FILLED WITH YOU
OF BLUE SKIES
HEARTS
AND DRAGONFLIES

I LOOK BACK
UPON A TIME
WHEN A MEREST THOUGHT
YOU FELT
HELD IT
CAUGHT
LIKE HEADY WINE
FEELINGS WROUGHT
IRRIDESCENT BLUE
SHIMMER OF WING
QIVER OF HEART
OF BLUE SKIES
AND DRAGONFLIES
YOU REMEMBERED, TOO

SUCH A DAY
SPENT WITH YOU
FELT LIKE FOREVER
IT WAS
ON A DAY
SO BLUE
OF DRAGONFLIES
AND HEARTS

YOUR REFLECTION
UPON WATER , SO STILL
OF IRRIDESCENT BLUE
I SAW YOU
MY DRAGONFLY

The Lake I Run

Slits of sunlight dappling the lake I run.
Even dragonflies buzz about with importance.
Against all odds, I'm against all the odds.

Glistening listening to love laps.
Lush rushes of hot air.
And wet lips with slips and rips and ripples,
So sleepy on a summer day.
So nice for you and me to stay.

Dragonflies And Rolling Boulders

Frequently left with no logic
when wet with amorous magick;
Dragonflies and rolling boulders,
cohesive thought left in embers;

A soft touch in heavy silence
leads to an act of defiance;
Locked up with metallic handcuffs
you won’t hear me utter rebuffs;

To follow the heartbeat in me?
They may say it’s a bit crazy;
Arrested ‘cause I won’t comply,
I’ll plead the fifth with no reply;

In love we’re outlaws of reason,
flames burn into acts of treason.
