Battle of the Words

Bravery is the father of fears
Dreams are distant cousins of nightmares
Hope is the sister of prayers
Every night shame lays down and gets screwed by despair
Pollution abuses Mrs. atmosphere
It's a battle between personality and reality
But obviously nobody cares
Maybe it's because big tough is the uncle of little scared
Planning is deeply in love with prepared
Procrastination is the biggest enemy of determination
Ignorance is jealous of realization
Sometimes strength can get sneak attacked by temptation
Silence can never defeat a great proclamation
When the brain disagrees with the heart
The body dies of complications

Boston Strong 2014 - One Year Later

Boston Strong 2014
                  One Year Later

There is a strength in compassion,
a courage in the compassionate,
not a faint desire to be of service
but a triggered response.

There is a power in sadness,
not in the tears or deflation
but in the determination to
persevere, to rise again.

There is a force in unity,
the inexplicable rumbling
of hearts, beating in response
to the hearts of others.

There is a passion in oneness,
in focus, in belief, determination,
a love shared, nurtured, shielded,
cherished, and necessary.

Cancer's Cost

Cancer's Cost

Cancer may ravage whole body parts
but it can never conquer resolute hearts.
Battered and bruised by aggressive procedures
we may hardly recognize our distinguishing features.

Remember this my friend, all hope is not lost
You can fight this evil enemy, but there is a cost.
The price is determination, a strong will to keep living
you have so much goodness left inside to keep giving.

Remember this my friend,
We are more than the sum of our human body parts
Cancer cannot kill the eternal love dwelling in our hearts!

One With Angels

He sat under a Bo tree.
He meditated.
He observed silence for days,
seeking the Truth.
Angels tried to feed him,
but he resisted.
Bit by bit he saw his inner flaws
and doubts,
and corrected them.
Master of Darkness tried to shut
his inner eyes,
but was overwhelmed by the seeker's determination.
Enlightened was the seeker,
that he could see the past, present, and future.
A halo encircled his head.
Angels witnessed a mortal become one of them.
He could see the sorrows they carried for the world,
and their unconditional love for all mankind.
The angels wept tears of joy in the heavens,
in the place of a thousand suns....

New Light

Since you've come into my life, You've shown me a New Light.... Day after Day, And Night after Night, It still shines very bright.... You've brought me so much love, joy and hope, That my heart took flight.... If loving and being with you is wrong, Honey I promise, I Don't Every Won't To Be Right.... Yet nothing worth while in Life is Easy, Everyday there's a constant battle or fight... (Good) At the end of the day, we still stand tall, For we've given All Our Might..... Our time together is sheer pleasure, And A Wonderful Delight..... With Determination, Faith and God, I know that we shall be All Right.....

Her Favorite Color

Bluebird
Blue skies
Seen through
Blue eyes
The deepest blue I've ever seen
My heart and mind as one convene
Determination? Beautiful!
Love for her? Immutable
Dazzled by her every move
In harmony and with one groove
Captured by the very thought
That I have found who I have sought
This profound love I've heard about
It does exist, I no more doubt

Not If I Can Help It

A glass of port to soothe the heartache.
Ever smiling to hide the sorrow of the empty chair at the diner.
A warm breeze that carries her scent that she left behind by mistake.
Touching the night with humility to remind myself I am human.
Nights are so bleak I dare not trust boredom to keep me company.
Ever alone in a world of possibilities I must move forward with a determination only the lonely can understand.

I Cannot Believe I Can Smile

I smile without acknowledgement there of
With simple joy all I can do is shrug
For love, I can’t tell where it is above
With sweetness and kindness like a dove

For why am I smiling surprisingly?
With this wonderful joy and lovely peace
And all the contentment that’s inside me
I’m glad my heart is no longer feenin’

Please don’t block out love, that’s what you do best
Relax your mind and give your head a rest
Organize your life, for you need no mess

Really… I cannot believe you can smile
Determination… I can spot a mile
Now, take a picture so it can be filed.

Patience When In Love

What remedy is there to take the pain away?
I'm sick inside and its killing me that I only hear from you once a day.
Surely you can do something so I won't feel this way.
Seconds, minutes, to hours, I find myself still waiting by the phone.
Of course time is valuable when you have a house of your own.
All I can think of is you and I left all alone.
I sometimes question if I need words of affirmation
Or just simple words of confirmation.
And no, no, no; I'm not lacking determination.
You and only you is all I think of.
Patience is truly a virtue coming from above.
But, when I have you all to myself, there's going to be more than LOVE.

What Youth Doesn'T Know Or Care To Know

Oh, how we keep
adjusting
the level of our
expectations
as, age, sickness, and
loss of dreams
take their toll.
You ask what it matters,
if you do not graduate.
Truth to tell, little,
in these times,
in this society.
School is only one
small measure of success,
imperfect at that.

But for a mother,
whose life has been
a weary negotiation
between poverty
and expectations,
the apparent success
of her children
becomes the last measure
of a life's value.

You, in your determination
not to have anyone
judge the value
of your young life
until you hit your
high expectations
refuse to give
one small gift
to one that has lost hers

I Am From Me

I am from

I am from my mom’s jean jacket with leather lining, from levi’s and converse.
I am from the cracked blue painted walls and worn down white windows.
I am from the white calla lilies, the roses.
I am from yearly trips to Laguna Beach and stubbornness, from Patty and Camille and Marcus.
I am from the procrastination and determination.
From “clean up your damn room” and “take out the trash”.
I am from pseudo Hanukkah. From matzo ball soup, latkes, and no religious aspects.
I’m from Santa Ana and Europe, quesadillas and pizza.
From the two different families.
I am from Natural Bridges State Beach, Russian River Campgrounds, and Foothills Park.

Amelia

As the sun shines so brightly
    I am always playing cheerfully

Makes me realize that I have grown into
    An energetic personality I can call my own;

Excited about being close to Mommy & Daddy
    They're so special!
        Playing with my sister
And even looking for a seashell.

Listening to my heart and soul
When expressing my feelings in art
         Or whatever I like to do;

I live in a world of happiness and joy,
    Of confidence & determination
        That special glow;

Always surrounded by the love
That I have come to know.

Recipe For Living

stir in some compassion
mix in some kindness
fold in some mercy
pour in some humanity
sprinkle in some humility
a tablespoon of sincerity
a cup of character
a dash of charm
a pinch of faith
a teaspoon of happiness
a drop of love
toss in some hope
shake in some charity
a dollop of determination
a half cup of optimism
a quart of courage
blend until you have
the smoothness of integrity
cover it with forgiveness
cook it in friendship
ice it with responsibility
serve it with maturity
pray over it with devotion
then eat it with
the grace of God

Lessons Lectures In Love

You weave wondrous webs with words
Practice percolate perfect & perform
You spin sexy synonyms secretly seducing sanctions
Litigate lustful liaisons languidly

You school this student serendipitously
Tormenting teasing tantalizing
You acquire avant garde aptitude
Cautiously coaxing committed candor

You reward religiously rightfully
Manifesting in momentarily madness & mayhem
You devise in detailed determination
Her ****** in opaque oblivion

Silent Specter

A silent specter still as a statue,
Trapped in time,
Still and silent sitting on the window sill,
Pondering what she had done to become trapped in time,
Her long hair lifts off of her shoulders in a long forgotten wind,
Her curly red hair framing her beautiful face,
You can see the love determination and a fierce hope in her eyes,
Like a breeze over water her silent mournful cry for her angel lover,
And she shall long for him until judgment day comes.

75 Miles

I journey for love on 75 miles
With admiration for your love

I walk pace the hill of 75 miles
With respect for your person

I swim through an ocean of 75 miles
With determination to be your king

I travel with butterflies on 75 miles
Only to pick you in a city of tenderness

My car tank runs dry on 75 miles
Your love fuels the engine to reach you

Morning, noon and night on the 75 miles
Your love never stops raining dew on me

I am on 75 miles from Lagos to Ibadan
To find you the queen of all women

Good Night Darling

Lift your head
and look ahead

Theres so much in stall
For all who are small

Dont be afraid my dear
because mummy will always be there

I'll cuddle you all night
When you cant handle the fight

Till you fall asleep
and you no longer feel weak

The way your blonde hair glistens in the dark
I lie here and feel the beating of your heart

Your fragile skin
and determination

gives me a new spark of life
in the middle of the night

I suddenly feel a new strength within
to continue to be the best mum in all of creation

Survivor

Peaceful, and Silent is the world as gentle wind
Flows through my hair

A turning ice cream cone appears in the distance sky
Rumbling, I run for miles and miles
Faster and faster, finally
Allowing the wind to grab out at me
And
 Wrap its self around me

Devoured by the ice cream cone
Walls of black covered the wonders of hope
I tried to get a grip of the last bit of light

Love, determination, and the
Urge to survive,
Powered me to follow my dreams and
Get hold of that last bit of light

I’ve waited my whole life
The new me as arrived
Afraid of nothing and ready to face
The harsh world
Once again

A survivor lives

Running Away

Tendencies intensify
To end a life that's full of lies
Without a thought was forced to hide
Sick and tired to win the prize

Burdens weighed down
Patience submerged
Determination disappears
Given up the war inside
Thinking its the end of the line

A place to survive is not what we see
Its in the arms of a Healer where we can confide and be free
As we conform to the world salvation sets apart
Resolutions forced us to run away and pull the gun

Make up the mind and understand
His perfect love cast out all fears inside
If love is clear and heart is open
No need to run away and die

With Challenges Never Hides

with challenges and never hide

Our struggles may seem endless
but our determination is tireless
we refuse to be helpless
we'll keep pushing, limitless
our hope, unbreakable and priceless

We'll keep marching ahead
with courage, tenacity, and stead
no matter how difficult the thread
we'll move forward, not lose our head
for a better tomorrow we shed

So till then we won't rest
we'll keep putting ourselves to the test
grind, hustle and be our best
till we reach our utmost quest
together, we'll stand and overcome the rest.
