Gentle Summer Rain

She writes about Fall's beauty in the rain
The falling raindrops' dance ascribing thence
Bespoken verse that lightens her refrain
before the time they met - her steps commence.

She listens to the soft and rhythmic thrum,
her love turned to escape and cloudy string
Where nimbus mistletoe fell, tears to become
Their kiss of Autumn was symbolic ring.

The first light cotton mists with summer rays
While skyward cheerful laughs adorn the land,
their ceremonial dance diffuses grays,
affectionate embrace, where dreams expand.

Upon September's sky the raindrops gleam
With half of hidden Sun to laugh and beam.

Moment In Time

A moment in time, frozen in my mind Vision of beauty, an angel in my eye Sunshine sparkling down Brightening up my cloudy days Life was on the downturn spiraling lost... out of control Nights of loneliness. days of false smiles A few choice words, consoling my cries Those killer smiles you gave Those deep caramelized eyes, giving solace to my broken heart Taking my hand, you lead me from the deep, into the light. Upon the next shooting star To you, I devote my heart.

Mon Paris

My love, I cherish
Your words
Your thoughts
Your soft lips

My love
I cherish the walks
The soft winds of fall
le jardin, L'eau

The flowers in bloom
The cafes and cloudy skies
Madeleine, columns of the past
Your eyes, holding on, to the last

The streets so vibrant, your touch at my side
And as we stroll along life's garden paths
Your soul sings in silence
Paris at last

Awaiting Your Smile

Singular snowflakes spread-out
blanket a dreary barren berm
that overlooks the dormant meadow
bringing a brightness to fields of grey.

Smiles overcome me as I watch
the proud red-breasted robin
pick at pieces of weathered brush
choosing just the right one
to comfort her nesting baby.

Whistles echo out of the rustic kitchen
where a steamed up copper kettle sings
waiting patiently to pour into perfect tea.
The first sip commands my attention and
wraps tightly around me, leaving a feeling
like your precious smile on a cloudy day

Quietly I sit absorbing the peaceful morning
like the baby robin in anticipation your return

Baby Wishes

Precious, life sustaining oxygen flows
no longer; linking chord tethering me
severed, I lie upon hard cold table.

I see cloudy images--a table
holds my angel mother. Sweet red blood flows
from soft nurturing nest once holding me.

Mommy, don’t discard your babe. Look at me!
Life can be saved. An abortion table
Should not separate with death our love flows.

Love flows away. Save me from this table.

On Growing Older Than I Am

On Growing Older Than I Am

Alas, this growing older than I am
drained me of the will to search for more
my life consumed incessantly with spam
I stood a vagrant beggar at the door

naked beneath the trappings of old skin
gazing through windowless cloudy past
as life, I’d truly love to live again,
roams freely through the shadows I have cast

So as I stiffen now inside this crate
hear sad footsteps slowly mark my fate
I must admit I never made this date
nor planned to leave the party quite so late

Thus, in the silence, I shall take my leave
dream of the life I lived and will not grieve.

Always In Black

Always in black
From the summer
To the spring,
Year after year
I am in mourning,
For the love
For the pain,
The one who got away
The one who stole
My heart,
The only one I had,
And even though
I know where to find her,
I prefer to sleep
I prefer to suffer,
The agony of her distance
The cold memories
Frozen photos
Now diluted of color,
I resolve to wake
For the lies of my hopes,
That one day
I'll see her again
Again hear her laughter,
But those dreams now stay
Like splinters
In the hole in my chest,
How sweet would death be
After the torture of my days,
Always cloudy
Because of the sun that left me
For another rainbow...

Love Is Like Sunshine

Love is like sunshine, cheers you up each day,
The smiles and hugs between friends.

A friend's sunny disposition,
Destined to be a good companion.

When you are surrounded by caring friends,
You are all set to have a sunny day.

When a handsome prince guests,
You respond positively and friendly,

What is this magic called love and kindness,
God's sunshine on a cloudy day.

Stop and thank God for his friendship,
What a clever disguise is his.

Sunny days with God and companions,
I am simply thankful to the Lord.

Seeing Deep Pain, In Watering Blue Eyes

Seeing Deep Pain, In Watering Blue Eyes

I was not brave, I did not dare to ask
why she cried, hid behind her weeping mask
Seeing deep pain, in watering blue eyes
matching rainfall from dark, cloudy skies

I had not courage, to find out her plight
nor wisdom -to see evil in plain sight
Her shattered heart, crushed by a cruel fiend
she now lost, nobody dare intervene

If we had met before deep heartbreak struck
I would now hold her and thank my good luck
There she sat, crying outside that June dance
to broken to give her NEW LOVE a chance

Then she saw me and gave a tiny smile
Courage came, I crossed that last fearful mile

What Lies Ahead

Write like it's your last poem
Sing like it's your last song
Love like it's your very first love
Kisses as sweet as a baby dove's

Every morning, bounce out of bed
Who can tell what lies ahead
Weave through the day in a special way
Be it sunny and bright or cloudy and gray

Whatever you do, do it with joie d' vivre
With power and passion, though not all fevered
You've got your plans; the Creator has His
When He lowers the curtain ~ That's show biz!

Winds of Change

The first breeze of love is fragrant and sweet
When the soul's blooms open like a red rose
And pulls you towards the fresh petals complete
To give you poems, your heart will compose
The nights become a sensual bouquet
And days turn with memories of the night
Then the passage of time sometimes turns gray
When winds of love change and the heart takes flight
This wind becomes stronger, distant, and cold
To roll across a desolate landscape
And leave a love cloudy, dusty, and old
Trapped in the shadows trying to escape
Love can litter hearts with reasons to flee
Winds of change will blow away the debris

Cloudy Reasons

Dark though inside stars can keep you warm
But like arias— never stepping chase
This solo softens when distance far
For blacking out slowly— memory's sake.
I see you so beautiful in gray.
And I'm gray too— in your bright waxing dust;
Where I riddle away with our cause.
In this dizain, I pull on you near—
Though we sidestep a shadow love,
Falling stars flicker in eyes— my tears.

A Walk Through Rain's Crack Minichu

Rain with her wet slippers assail
The senses affixed on my walls—
Through its cloudy sight, a sun dial.

Where pattering waxes to a haunting tune,
Blew out the candle from under time—
Cracks now wide in bright or dull blue.

Storm's find
Brass chimes
Odd shine

Rain with her wet slippers assail,
Blew out the candle from under time,
Odd shine.

A Blessing To Know You

Author Dana Redricks
February 12, 2019

When my days are cloudy
and blue and don't know
what to do, you hold me
close to you safe from harm
In you is where I
find my strength
when I don't have
a peace of mind
A love like yours is
like no other
You are a friend who
sticks closer than a brother
It has been a blessing
to know you and have
you in my life
Even though I don't
always show it I love
you more than words
can say

Rain

A cloudy, gloomy, cool, rainy morning
Fresh, transparent, and sparkling,
Muddy dreams pouring and droplets springing

And all my things left in an open to get dry
Love, trust, life, joy and here is none to supply

I place not a blame
They art wet all the same
Found it interesting as a computer game
To see these teardrops of shame

Sorrow shared is half the sorrow
But I have the audacity to see tomorrow

Rain has seasons
And also reasons
To bind boundless
For with time it will be cloudless

To strengthen strongly
When the atmosphere is misty
And words exchanged wrongly

Oh Spring Day

I was wrong about spring,
for all those months I painted the blame on winter’s dark face.
Wave after wave of cold cloudy, darkening days,
saturated my damaged point of view. By the way
I am sure I will die on a winter day, blaming the solstice,
waiting for the capricious spring to finally arrive.

But my heart will be frozen, and perhaps not even alive.
God how I love the way you make the sun shine.

I was wrong about my fate,
I filled the frame in haste, too busy to wait. I didn’t listen.
I ate my own eyes, and blamed the skies,
I chased the horizon and wrapped it in lies.

Oh spring day, it is never too late,
to fill me with mercy and grace as I wait.

Thoughts of You (Asean Sonnet)

How do I make my feelings loud and clear
in social chaos wrought by hate and fear
and voices seem to fade beyond the ear?
How do I tell of love so very dear
without the aid of Cupid's mighty spear?
My silent eyes refuse another tear
nor seek the answers found in cloudy beer
to state my love may see my heart appear.
A sonnet brings my thoughts for you to hear,
when love, I cannot hold or bring you near,
these words I write reveal my heart's sincere
and pray, my love, they bring your eyes some cheer.
Hence to this end I can but persevere
and use my pen and ink to find love's sphere.

Sol

As sun peeks from scattering clouds,
nature follows suit as all gets bright.
And with plants reaching up to golden halos,
animals appear and bask in its silky delight.
Such is her smile after a cloudy and misty day,
refreshing and eternal as sol's awakening.

H20

As dawn breaks,

She can no longer wait.

The thirst is to great,

To quench her palate.

A journey she takes

10 miles straight.

Thru darkness she goes,

A bucket she throws

On top of her head.

Wild animals she dreads

Strangers lurking ahead.

Sweat covers her face,

but with each step., she takes

A love of family awaits,

Left behind at her place.

An old rusty pipe

Just in clear sight

A cloudy stream of

Water. Opens to her delight.

Painting Hue and Me

If I could paint a memory
It would have all the colors of you
warm splashes of sweet tenderness
and a moon surrounded in a purple hue

If I could paint loneliness
I would color it blue and gray
Just the way I miss you
On every cloudy rainy day

If I could paint sadness
It would be full of tears and doubt
Roses so red with thorns
That pierce the heart inside out

If I could paint my feelings for you
I would see it as a kaleidoscope
of rainbows beaming a golden view
across the sky to say "I love you"

Murder In June

Fangs, bloody and red
Tires, barren of tread
Fire, rising above
Heart, devoid of love
Skies, cloudy and grey
Price, too high to pay
Time, now has run out
Mind, filled now with doubt
Eyes, blinded by drinking
Brain, no longer thinking
Blood, staining the ground
Noise, then not a sound
Life, taken too soon
Warmth, gone now in June
Dead, left on the road
Man, a life taken now owed

Veni, Vidi, Vici

Empty words take the place of what I'd say;
I'm at a point of complete silence.
Under Carolina skies, cloudy and gray,
As these thoughts turn inside my head.

I'm not brokenhearted, nor do tears fall;
Can't believe what I've done more or less.
What I thought was love wasn't love at all;
Thrill is nostalgic and sinful, I guess.

Yeah, I do and don't like mistakes;
Who would hate a good adventure?
The ugly beauty of escapades,
Especially, when it was her.

So now is the time to move on,
And go make better of ourselves.
We've conquered the things that were wrong,
Leaving behind our stories to tell.
