Natures Gift

It's how the stars are lit at night
and how the dew drops glisten
How evening shadows mock the light
and it's how the silence listens

From the gentle sway of trees
     that bid such fond adieu
     Songs in a summer breeze
a voice so clear, so true

     The glory of such symmetry
so more than fills the eye
To the beauty of such poetry
     this hopeful heart draws nigh

In natural peace all love is born
To live and thrive each blessed morn

What Is Love

I still recall our first poetic glance, dormant pen roused my fingers to dance. Her love was like a cherry blossom tree, which at first blossomed so beautifully. When a tender breeze took each fragile bud, we stood naked, vulnerable to the flood. Broken branches fell, as love became silent, our poems burned in fires, ever so violent. Her absence formed a lawless state of mind, vacant heart bled for memories left behind. Some say sorrow washes away with rain, but in heartbreak, torpid wounds leave a stain. Love is a balance of peace and distress, yet it's something two souls cannot suppress.

Shadows

Our shadows were so restless
As we passed from room to room;
They pretended to be living
But they died within their tomb

They shrank a little bit each day
When the sun shone bright above;
And both of us now waste away
In the sadness of lost love.

In days of younger shadows
That danced in noon's bright light;
Laughter floated on the breeze
Till our day turned into night.

Burdened by life's troubles
Our shadows danced no more;
They became the darkened spots
That faded on the floor.

Now death's arms have taken you
Leaving only memories of your face;
The shadow that was part of you
Is now gone without a trace.

In Purple Fields We Dance

Stay a little longer come closer to my heart Breathe dew breeze on my neck's nape do not yet depart Play for me bagpipe music Blindfold all my starving fears Let the dulcet tones of your voice give us back those harvest years Make of the citrus moon a ballroom Hold me firmly from both hands Lift me high to touch the star-sky Show me how young peasants dance Let my soothing fingers trail across your caloused sun -soaked skin In purple fields Come chase me in that place our souls have been Take me away with you where this world is out of sight Where unspoken thoughts and heartbeats are enough to blaze the night.

Summer

Oh summer what have you done to me
so many flirtatious winks teasingly
undressing me with every wisp of
a welcomed heat filled breath

Oh summer, oh how you melt me
with those gazing sunrise eyes blinking
and those sweet high noon kisses swimming
fogging up another afternoon aviator sky

Oh summer your warm touches caress
and I'm a mess blushing into a golden
bronze affair wondering when you're not there
if you will ever come back again

Oh summer your nights delight with fire
and a backyard breeze harmony underneath
a blanket of stars and a lemonade moon
hushed I swoon knowing I'm in love

Butterflies

They flutter and hover
And float on the breeze.
They shiver and shimmer
And weaken the knees.
Fickle and fragile,
They tickle and tease.
Fleeting and flimsy,
Deceptively free.

These frivolous creatures,
These knots of desire.
Once spindles of yearning,
Now spools of barbed wire.
Once pulling like petals,
Now pricking like briar.
Once soothing like honey,
Now burning like fire.

Violently thrashing,
It struggles to rise.
The truth comes up gasping
From whirlpools of lies.
Shed this charade
And discard your disguise.
I know you enjoy
Drowning blind butterflies.

Lighthouse On the Shore

There is a lady all dressed in light, who stands above the jagged shore at night. To guide the sailing ships to safer seas and beg the wicked storms for calmer breeze. She ever shines her light across the bay, in hopeful search for love that sailed away. He left the land with plans to bring back gold, to ask her hand to wed, the story's told. When his ship met with tempest gales, the waves ripped the hull, wind stripped the sails. The lady waits at night for him on shore, as he still lays with gold on ocean floor. Sometimes you see her lonely light afar, it shines in the sky like a distant star. 12/16/18

Sweet Breeze

The sweet breeze through the window
asks nothing as unseen birds call.
It asks nothing of the sun
as it sweeps across yards,
yet it whispers to waking dreams.
My dreams ask,
Did I love too much?
behind my mind’s eye,
visions
and what do they mean
when we give of ourselves
so fully we are spent.
Now I’m alone.
Canadian geese gather
crowding a path along the river
as the day passes,
so consumed with each other
they ignore the mothers
and children who pass.
A ski jet slaps waves,
and the river breathes.
The gaggle whispers among itself,
and nature speaks a language of her own.

A Peaceful Smile

"Before the winds were born and there were signs of life,
your beauty was already stirring inside my soul."

Star light shine down for me this night
for I may see just one more time
through hungry eyes
a solemn soul still
in contemplation

Strokes gentle in a sea of silk
reflected in a perfect way
showing beauty
unknown still
seeing faults

Night carry your breeze to her side
blow away any guilt
leaving just
visions still
and a peaceful smile

My Tiny Floret

Satin streaks of sun filter her golden ray
and with a glimpse of beauty float away

Tiny floret
precious floret
carry off my dreams
to bountiful fields of white
where innocence plays
on a sun shiny day

Breeze
glorious breeze
carry her free
show her angelic heights
amid visions of white
pointing towards
star cover nights

Tiny floret
the daisy has called
share your petals
with the world
let go my guiding hand
surround yourself in splendor
and with the new dawn shine

Quest of Allure Romantic

Perfumed breaths of rosy breeze
In lyrical refrain of redolent winds
Enamoring your pulse of longing
Compose harmonies euphonic
Strumming verses of heartbeats;

When nightingale sings song of eve
As buoyant river rushes to sea,
Giggling stream, greening prairies,
Voicing passions of iridescent spring.

But it is the moon on opal skies
That seduces your dream of dreams,
Proffering aura of esoteric smile
In covert hints of amorous night,
Lauding quest of allure romantic;

Hypnotizing your zealous soul
Ecstatic in my infatuating words
From song of heart rousing passion,
Crooning tender tunes of love
Tiptoeing to become your world.

Falling

At first
love floats like a snowflake,
until it melts in your hand.

Then it falls,
like an Autumn leaf,
eventually swept away in the breeze.

Sometimes love offers mercy,
like April showers to rose petals,
but no rain can save from decay.

Love wants to be free like a kite,
flying colourfully in bright blue skies,
but grey clouds ruin its flight.

One day love will descend like sunset.
Maybe we are born to fall -
but love will always ascend again like sunrise.

Signature of Life

Over the still pond
a leaning branch of Iris
Messenger of Love

sudden gentle breeze
flower kisses the water
whispering love talk

ripples in water
sending another message

My Love

My love is gone, but he has not gone far.
I see his golden locks in waves of wheat,
the blaze of his blue eyes in each bright star;
in dewy blooms of red, his lips so sweet;
his smile in morning sun I rise to greet.
Oh, whether it be day or night, I swear
I see my wondrous lover everywhere!

His scent is with me too, for I inhale
him as I walk through woods of tall pine trees.
I taste him in fresh rain, and I can tell
that he is near me when a summer breeze
caresses me; my mind can be at ease!
For though he’s gone, I know my love will be
In beauty evermore surrounding me.

Myriads of Umbrellas

Myriads of umbrellas like I’ve never seen floating upward brilliant red, yellow, pink and green. Many happy thoughts must be in the springtime breeze, or bright hope could not ascend high above the trees! Opened up, hope shelters us from the rains of gloom. Losing sight of happiness would be mankind’s doom. Peace and love must guide our thoughts so we might see rise myriads of umbrellas through all earth’s blue skies! Secrets of Passion

The sheets beneath the shadow lights a spark, for whence we laid down he nestled his head. Our enchantment lights magic in the dark, but so much is spoken with words unsaid. For love can be given without a sound, and received within the silence of night. Freely nurturing with touching, profound, nevertheless understood without sight. Let us keep the secrets of passion calm, yet exalt beyond the whisper of breeze. Free from apprehension and busy qualm, longing for our souls to be hushed with ease. For as long as we remain free from sound, our mystical romance will be unbound. ~28 April 2016~

Another Season

For years, I've watched my seasons come and go
Beneath the pines along the River Brine
I've drunk my fill of robust summer wine
Survived the stinging lonely winds that blow

Now once again spring brings her color show
Rebirthing beauty by Divine design
And even though my days are in decline
I'll add her mem'ries to next year's bordeaux

The rose inside my heart is in full bloom
Amongst forget-me-nots and memories
A sign to me that love in me abides
Intoxicating me with sweet perfume
Another season blown in on a breeze
That seem to come and go like changing tides.

Summer Breeze

Soft lights with warm winds pirouetting in time whispering its music so perfectly in rhyme Hearts searching, ever searching for love's sweet caress Wishing, ever hoping, to so tenderly possess Moonlight in concert reflecting its bliss Starlight's twinkle, a pretentious first kiss Hearts searching, ever searching for love's sweet caress Wishing, ever hoping, to so tenderly possess The concert of summer called gently your name Softly, by this music into my life you came Hearts searching, ever searching for love's sweet caress Wishing, ever hoping, to so tenderly possess. 08/10/2018 Summer Breeze Contest Sponsored by John Hamilton

Paper Plane

Since you left, I've been unable to dream, thrashing about in tangled sheets all night. I fold paper planes, odd as that may seem, preparing the night's fledgling fears for flight. I believed we'd be together till death, and yet, you left me all alone and scared. Without you, I've no reason to draw breath; what kept me going was thinking you cared. I scribble down my anguish and my pain, describing how your leaving has hurt me. And fold the page into a paper plane, hoping the hand of fate sets my heart free. I await a breeze to launch my letter; for once my plane takes flight, I'll sleep better.

Not Just People

It's just not the same
darkness swirls
but there's no light
no will left to fight

I miss you
and your semblance of right

So, I send my love out in the breeze
take it, take me, if you please

Love Boat

Indigo ink dreams
Dripping from heart
Tattoos tongue with kinetic kiss
Green electric buzz like sip
Of fine blueberry wine so sweet
Dreamy turquoise love touch
Filling me up with red desire
On fire for your romantic antic
Sweeping me off my feet
Carrying me with ease
Of a blue breeze to deserted love island
Where tan sands caress like brown hands
White waters flow warm and toasty
Fast slow then in closing cold
Never let go of this love
For it floats like a boat

Until My Breath Wings Away

For life and love and summer breeze
For memories that fly with ease
For days with you that bring to mind
The greatest joy that I may find

For music that reflects the sun
For you and I to be as one
For roses that perfume the air
as fingers ruffle through your hair

For thoughts of peace that fill my heart
For knowing we will never part
For saying I will always stay
Until my breath should wing away
