Lilah of the Lilacs

Like violets were her eyes when first I spied the lady with a sweet child’s face who peeked at me from bushes that she stood beside, alluring Lilah, beaming, apple-cheeked! And so it was that more and more I found myself among the lilacs in that place where first we’d met, that I might hear the sound of Lilah’s laugh and glimpse her angel’s face. On fragrant garden paths we knew the thrill of blossoming affection. Poetry was time we spent! But when my love fell ill, the autumn of our bliss was not to be. . . I visit Lilah now where she’s at rest nearby the lilac blooms she liked the best.

Silence of the Butterflies

As sunrise silently marinaded morningtide meadows, our lips flowed like two streams, merging within an exclusive estuary so we set home upon the river bed. At first we floated like butterflies in Babylon, deaf to the squawks of mercenary crows, blind to the creeping weeds, which wandered amongst delicate petals nor did I notice our submerging embankment. As our estuary began to evaporate, you left me stranded in the silt and mud. My heart, once a blossoming garden, evolved into a wasteland of sedges and sludge. Still I wait for soothing streams to return, but all I am left with is marshland of regret and the silence of the butterflies.

Petal Soul

My heart resembles the fragility of a petal.
Blossoming behind metaphors within poetry.
The beauty is in the grandeur of their silence.

I portray my words for you to study my silence,
but you seem blind to how I'm wilting like a petal.
You always seem to believe it's the art of poetry.

Would you still love me if I stopped writing poetry.
Could you comprehend my timid tongue's silence,
so I bloom in your garden as an evergreen petal.

Seek my petal soul in poetry, beyond the silence.

To You with Love

In your eyes, I see stars align. In my world, you are the sunshine. Our love's boat, no waves can capsize. I see stars align in your eyes. Your smile, blossoming of flower. Your presence, warmth in my bower. With you I can trek any mile. Blossoming of flower, your smile. In trials of life, you stand strong. As prop, you are with me lifelong. With you by my side, there's no strife. You stand strong in trials of life. On your way, I wish every bliss. Pray, nothing you crave, you will miss. With you, joyously, I shall stay. I wish every bliss on your way!

If Love Does Not Live (Sonnet For Celene Crescent)

If love does not live so that love may live,
Wrecked on rugged rock like a pirate ship;
Tiresias speaks to hearts—no love to give,
Darkness and void with no inspired lips;

If love is quashed short of its golden prime,
Like dinosaurs smashed by a meteorite;
Crushed from its age of blossoming on time,
Like breath strangled from life not to unite!

Then O’ love, send me Pegasus to ride,
Spread your wings—lift us to Zeus in the sky;
Touching constellations with them abide,
Creating cherished crescendos for weepy eye:

Lightning life beaming love from golden clouds
Descending passion upon earth erasing shrouds!

Lost In Love

Holding you inside one fragile beautiful flower blossoming dream
Sweet you are my love painting words breathtaking within all wishes

Silvery streak of moonlight shimmering a star
only now I read between the lines trailing thoughts

How can you ask someone to stop loving without care
an impossible task even for the hardest of hearts

If I were the last person on this planet sunshine through clouds
that's how it draws to me you're asking me not to love you

Misery likes company cuts deeper than a knife wounds beauty
never was the answer to love in our friendships face

Flowering Beauty Grows Amongst Thorns

Rose petals blossoming out from the heart softly silk
starbursts brightly sitting a regal flower kissed

By loving sunshine sweet glowing beauty dances
your delicate curling petals so beautiful

Like a butterfly's wings fluttering eyelids mist
engaged upon a glance sweet fragrance whispered dew

Embalmed by the perfume of such treasure found gift
it is here that an arrow of gold strikes home dear
sweet velvet corolla crumples fragile breathless

Flowering

Like a bud slowly opening its petals
one by one to the sun's warmth.
So too does love creep into hearts,
once there it soon expands blossoming.
Spreading like wildfire it floods and fills
every little corner and all the cracks.

New love needs special nurturing
just like the buds. In caring hands
it thrives and grows casting all in
golden warmth that shines richly.
Releasing peace and touching
the souls of all who feel it.

The Most Compelling Flower

I remember the time-freezing moment
When Lieutenant Dan made his peace
And opened the dimension of gratitude
The audience experiencing the quickening

I myself have come full circle
And found a tranquil harmony
No longer griping about the government
The church, or scapegoats on TV

How immature for me to think
That fairness grows like a flower
Our souls MUST experience injustice
The reference point of abuse of power

Without a garden of universal cruelty
How could we ever understand love?
So with a heart of gratitude I give thanks
For the blossoming of this compelling bud

Leaves Fall On My Face

Nesting birds singing in the trees so tall, They look grand in the summer, spring, or fall. Drenched in the warm early morning sunlight- Flowerbed beauties soft buds unfold bright. I lay, laud and favor whilst breeze flows through A graceful pace in a meadow of blue. Tree leaves fall freely on my head and face, Each float slowly finding a resting place. As long as the sun is shining, you'll find Blossoming blooms; bees lingering behind. Tiny flower clusters snug and fruity, Etched on earth memory of their beauty. 4/28/2020 Poetry Contest: Rhyming Couplets' Sponsored By: Janice Canerdy

Beating Love

Blossoming
In the inner depths
Like a flower
warm touching emotions
Dressed in dark

Glowing
in the embers
A loving devotion
Sparking in dreams
Not being able
To do without

In the clouds
A gentle sigh
Within feelings
At one with
the silver lining
Shines beauty

Lifting the curtains
Sparkling emotions
A dazzling jewel
Smiling happiness
Raising the spirit
To the highest

A whisper falls
upon the breath
The soul sings out
Fluttering
In it's breeze
Gives wings

Love you take
The very breath away
The heart flies
In the spirit
of you
Without wings

Floating heartbeats
Banging on the drums
Within emotions
For you
my dream

Held Within Wings

a blanket
begins unfolding
treading on dreams
softly a mist
begins creeping
in the soul
without shadows
echoes falling silent

walking without colour
in a distant fog
i see the sunshine
glistening dew
upon leaves
cherry lips
blossoming red
sparkling in essence
something beautiful

tears begin
falling deeply
shed in happiness
how much
it all means
touching love
one soul
is the butterfly
within wings
folding them around
your heart

Love Shaken and Stirring Feelings

shaking desires
hot peppered emotions
burning passion
tasting delicious
delightfully spicy
warming the insides

inhaling sweet fragrance
blossoming in
the soul
floating this heart
one budding
red rose
with a feathered touch
silken soft petals
falling deeply
with you love

on a bed
nestled inside
within dreams
upon a petaled blanket
sweetly scented
with heavenly you
my beautiful angel

A Summer Breeze, and the Perfect Song

Upbeat
Happy
Bringing the memory of childhood summers
Bouncing

Sweet
Endearing
Soft voice of an angel leading me away
Dancing

Open
Close
Eyes flickering slowly with peace
Contempt

High
Joy
Away into the clouds into love and happiness
Exploding

Brilliance
Colors
Blossoming designs flowering in the sky
Amazing

My Heart Is Knocking

My heart's knocking on your heart's door
Your heart has never heard this knock before
My heart keeps knocking again and again
But your heart is scared and won't let me in
As the days go by and your heart gets to know mine
Our hearts will become intertwined
Our love will grow like a blossoming flower
Love will unleash its ultimate power
The next time my heart knocks on your heart's door
You won't have to ask what I'm knocking for
You won't be afraid to let my heart in
You will finally be ready to let love begin

The Rose

The rose that didn't
know herself a thing
of perennial beauty –

of vibrant color,
entrancing scent –

the long-time
study of bouquets,

of sentimental verses,

of flawless princesses
and jealous witch's
curses – a rose who
never grew to cherish
the blossoming of gifted
being –

never looked more deeply
beyond the shallow face
of a painful moment's dark
crystal, into the sacred heart
of a bejeweled core –

all life are forms of
buds and blossoms –
man's duty
learning the husbandry
of seeing
and respecting

each petal spent
a fertile encore

death a heartfelt finale

for tears and then applause

I Bred a Rose

I bred a rose of color rare
And gave it to my lady fair.
She looked at it disdainfully
Then, laughing, tossed it back to me.
No man, she said, her heart would hold
Lest he applied for it with gold.
That one of her high pedigree
Was not for gardeners like me.
I explained the rose for her I'd named,
But there was no swaying one so vain.

My shattered heart and I went home
And sat there in the gloom alone.
The garden that was to me so dear
I let grow desolate and bare.
Then love and roses proved to me
Their resilience and tenacity.
I woke one day in early spring
To find each blossoming again,
And in a spot where all could see
Bloomed the rose my new love bred for me.

Dance Me a Rainbow Tango

I dare you to do! With glorious hues, under your  bare feet. You, and your partner doing the Argentine Tango. In the valley of the clouds, With the moon smiling down! The stars applauding your dance. Alas, you  wake up to find it's all but a dream. And here you are, alone in bed. With the melody of the tango, still humming is your head. Till your love joins you, with a tender kiss. Planted right on your forehead then blossoming into a night of Romeo and Juliet loving, close, joyfulness. Ahh...those tango rainbows! July 14, 2019 4pm.

Written: December 13, 2023 ______________________________________ An ovation for peace vibrates everywhere around the globe bringing everyone together unified in opposing mayhem at outbreak of violent conflict wrenching love in a veil of bitterness. If rhetoric could alleviate anguish soothe tremendous pain bridges that span a wider range jointly building a fresh world a borderless, unfettered mankind. fulfilling lofty dreams of earth, blossoming fields of roses throughout a lifetime conquering a season of sorrow people's stupidity exploring a tranquil path beyond lines that divide us apart.

The Superwoman Is You

Every ray of sunlight is a reflection of you
Blossoming into joy’s of laughter all day through

Every smile that you reflect is concealed with a tear,
Making it special for everyone so near

Every sacrifice that you make,
Brings out the love inside you
Making the world of a difference
to be honest and true

Every success that is written,
Is the foundation from you

Coz you are the woman
The woman so true
The woman with power
The superwoman is you

The Blossoming Elderly

Where are all the elderly?
Where did they all o?
Like a blossom they withdraw
From the bitter sorry cold.

Just caress a little bit
With warmth fro the cold
And you'll find they're in your hands
And the blossom's now a rose.
