Petal

Pink and perfect mystery
to which I ply my finger,
she ripens so exquisitely
the longer that I linger

and fluff the modest blossom
with my gentle loving hand,
teasing, ever pleasing
so that now I understand

how beautiful the flower
that yields without duress,
blooming now so fully
in the warmth of my caress.

What Is Love

I still recall our first poetic glance, dormant pen roused my fingers to dance. Her love was like a cherry blossom tree, which at first blossomed so beautifully. When a tender breeze took each fragile bud, we stood naked, vulnerable to the flood. Broken branches fell, as love became silent, our poems burned in fires, ever so violent. Her absence formed a lawless state of mind, vacant heart bled for memories left behind. Some say sorrow washes away with rain, but in heartbreak, torpid wounds leave a stain. Love is a balance of peace and distress, yet it's something two souls cannot suppress.

Lemon Trees

I know the land where the lemon-trees flower.
My love met me near them, to linger an hour.
I kissed him, I hugged him and smelled the sweet scent,
And prayed it stayed with him, wherever he went.
The day was so perfect, the skies were so blue.
The fragrance entrancing and love was so new.
He broke off a blossom and gave it to me,
And promised his love for an eternity.
My friends were so happy to plan bridal showers
And my wedding bouquet was of lemon-tree flowers.

The Lamp Post

You all see a romantic couple kissing
I see a lonely lamp post
You all see the blossom of love
I see a fading light
You all see the spring of love
As I see the terror of another lonely night

Dreams Hued In Cherry Blossoms

She walks underneath the pink sunshade trees dressed in flowing antique white bridal gown. Un-dissuaded heart, to laugh, love, a peace drawn to fragments of leaves rustling around. The start of spring; radiant glow of pink. A fountain of cherry blossom petals trace down to the ground dressing the green. A wink of amorous scene of warmth of her grace. Enthralled by sensation of sweet scent tease, gold sunshine rays' columns stand and solemn. Poetic strokes of emotions to please, a life draped in dreams hued in cherry blossoms. A blank canvas rich in true color spun in glaze memories not to be undone.

April Romance

My heart returns to you like spring
Awakening with April rain
As pale petals tenderly cling
To promises of daylight's gain

I turn to you like seasons do
Dewy and fresh from winter's rest
Seeding our love in rainbow hues
Green life misting our mingled breath

Your eyes, once shy, now warmly bloom
Vast meadows of poppy sweet red
Our future pledged on the perfume
Of roses from the day we wed

Once auburn, more silver does grow
Yet gleaming with color's recall
A blossom kept beneath the snow
You are my spring, summer and fall

Love without Flowers

How can love blossom without flowers
full-bodied roses to gaze at for hours

When the vase is empty so is the heart ~
seeds of doubt sprout tearing lovers apart

Poetry Is

Poetry is white lights falling upon rainbows and snow
Casual exchanges blinked upon a shared pillow
Lip prints etched inside an antiquated photograph
The obligatory holding of hands as a lost-craft

Poetry is the scent of morning kisses
Words that blossom, an arrow that misses
Umbrellas unopened on a drizzling day
A trail of lovers unable to find their way

Poetry is an evening sparrow chasing the moon
Two silhouettes cascading into a spoon
Roses blown from a closed casket
The loneliness of waiting for her to ask-it

Poetry is the answer to what if and why
Tissues capturing the tears but not the cry
Rubies polishing a heart to an imperfect shine
The undefined likeness of I, Me and Mine

Mirage

MIRAGE

My heart,
Believing in the reality of your love,
Followed you into passions’ burning
Desert,
In search of the promised oasis of our
Dreams
Where happiness, you said, so easily could
Blossom

BUT

A mirage your love turned out to be
Thus
Under the sizzling sun of disillusion was
I left,
Sacred oaths taking,
Not to listen anymore
To heart’s fraudulent
Whispers!

Melting Me

Melting through glass like sand through the sea Burning like fire through the evergreens When you touch me Fingers trembling in the extremity Sprouting to life, a little blossom on a branch Falling through rocks like an avalanche When you hold me My heart flits and flutters incessantly Floating along a river with a cool summer breeze Drifting to the heavens under skies like these When you love me The heavens and stars are drowned in ecstasy

Ethereal Lanterns

The sparkling spirit of your love,
merges with mine,
dwelling in passages of time, as
my heart sings symphonies of
ethereal lanterns,
beaming upon golden poppies,
while drifting across haloes of
glittering stardust.

Our divine souls flutter full circle,
when light meets dark;
a sacred union amidst
cherry blossom petals,
swirling in a helix of
devoted scintillation,
towards the sanctuary of
our blooming dedication.

This faith in you
is my heavenly glow,
a paradise of hopes and dreams,
swaying to your deific verve—
the gilded moon my spotlight, as
celestial lullabies serenade
this blissful twilight,
sheltered in your cherubic love.

Buried Secrets

where the seagull dies
stringless origami cries
loneliness of soul

koi fish suffocate
colors fade in Bonsai trees
island in distress

words not understood
shadows grin tricks on rice walls
tsunamis in eyes

geisha of the world
love is lost in illusions
freedom is her dream

men with cold fingers
whither blossom of her spring
harakiri end

in the seagull's grave
origami secrets kept
chicks learn how to fly

Death Is Not the End

Death is not the end,
For love goes on
And you will find the evidence
Long after I have gone.
The flowers that we planted
Will blossom without end,
You’ll find me in their beauty
As to their needs you tend.
The books we read together,
The laughter in the pages,
Will continue to give pleasure
To you throughout the ages.
So do not mourn my passing
You are not left alone,
You’ll always find me waiting
In the places we have known.
The bond that grew between us
Will not abate with time,
It will go on for always,
I’m yours and you are mine.

The Peony

She bent softly over the smooth water
Her fingers gently caressing the blue
A peony clasped to her bosom
Its petals soft and pink and true...

The artist captured this brief moment
Brush strokes telling us their story
The maiden ripe for the time of love
The peony clothed in peaceful glory...

Ancient blossom so full bodied
Yet delicate in scent and grace
A flower captured in Asian legends
With bowing head and subtle face.

For the flower contest..

Your Cherry Blossom Lips

My fingers' tip-toeing on your face
stopped at the softness of your lips,
   moonlit night guided my lips
       to your cherry blossom,
       a gentle Spring breeze
           melting like wax
               engulfed us
                with pure
                     joy.

Letting Go of Our Daughter

Love multiplied, your first crying sound
Eyes opening to the world around
To gaze at your newborn face, the sensation
That of peering down the generations
In our lineage, conditions to fear
Now more worried, each passing year
Giving up, choices breaking trust

Girlhood dreams begin to combust
Officer, with whom we discussed

Young womanhood beginning wrongly
Fell temptations pull you away
Although it pains all of us, strongly
For now, with others you must stay

Cherry blossom sun
Broadest smile, to me you run
Vigorous hug, love

Flow of Time

Like green leaves that turn yellow and wither away
Like buds that blossom and fade away
Like white clouds that turn sullen gray
Like lengthening shadows darken the day
The whirligig of time brings forth
Mysteries hidden in time's womb
The only certain destiny death
That stone cold tomb.
Like a flickering flame blown out by the wind
Life's breath is soon extinguished.
So we too shall pass away
And while on this journey we may
In this deepening gloom, shine a bright ray
Love, help, encourage, pray
A new beginning everyday.

The Earring

A hidden treasure
shiny and gold
underneath my pillow
almost a perfect circle
once hanging
from a lovely earlobe
on the gypsy lover
that came and went with the moon.

The wind has brought me
her name this morning
I recall the blue and gold scarf
that draped her shoulders
apple-blossom cheeks
bright red lips slightly apart
affection waiting to love
my gypsy lover with golden earring..

This symbol of such beauty
when the light bathed them
they had a sort of twinkle
elegance and grace
adding to her loveliness
mimicking in a strange way
this piece of her left behind

Perhaps she will return to retrieve it
my heart awaits!

As Heaven Gazed

Why wallflower hearts need such a hard shove
tho' reckoning an endless friendship grown.
Wi' turned pedal eyes' slow blossom to love
in yesterday's finest summer wind blown.

Wonder will unquiet heart stop midbeat
boyish peril calm and sweat'd palm betrays.
Enticed perfume's smell as trembling lips meet
fulfilled in deep need under heaven's gaze.

So easy said as two friends forever,
could I've but known alone's high price to pay.
Promise kept in knife's sharpest endeavor..
when fool bravado'd soul gave yours away.

Once so familiar heart left at love's feet,
still savor days heaven chose ne'er complete.

Soul Sisters

Love and Peace met on the beach for a walk. Peace looked at Love and asked: "Are you not my soul sister?"
Love smiled and replied "Wherever I bloom, you too blossom in the glorious garden of life side by side to be forever"
"I agree" said Peace. "If only your purity is preserved in its true essence by mankind." And they continued their long walk.

He Took My Hand

When he took my hand
this drab world changed
summer grasses became
a carpet of green where we
lay hour after hour lost
in each other

My eyes saw color in everything
and my heart filled
with raw emotion

His touch rivaled the warmth of the sun
causing buds to blossom on our trees
my lips open to his
my heart open to love
