O, I love my dear boy
So dearly and so blindly
I will give him my blood
And life if God permits so
He's so weak and sick
So pallid and so tender
But I know he's an umbrella of snow
In the wide-brimmed form
A rhyme, a loft
Almost in the spelling of my own world.

I try to reach out to anyone who will listen, who will take my beaten up, tired, hand,
All I get is a turned back, dirty old looks, a hurtful laugh, I can't hold my tears back.
All I get is self doubt, self hatred, and poor hatred for those who love me but I don't believe them.
All I keep hearing is, "everyone has their own lives, kids, jobs, to deal with, well you know what? So do I, one has autism for God sakes. All my life I have been alone, nobody cares I guess, oh well never mind I'm done.
I just want to ask one more question, do you mind?
Can I GO AWAY too? Because I'm done fighting, I've got Nothing Left!!

I Am Who I Am
And I’m Proud of it too
To those who haven’t met me,
It’s so nice to meet you.
I have Autism;
Something that is always with me
In my personality and body,
Something that doctors can agree.
My five senses are increased,
I hear, see, taste and smell things differently.
Even my mind is ‘off course’
Captured by everything around me instantly.
I can be energetic,
I can be easily excited.
Also, sometimes even the smallest things,
Would make me frightened.
I love my parents,
They tell me I’m a gem.
For they are proud just like me,
For who I am.

My nephew
has severe autism
He has a tough time in
this world
I've taught him to sing snatches
of Nat Kind Cole's "NatureBoy" and the
Lemon Piper's "Green Tambourine"
We all love this kid
It would break his mother's heart
If he wound up in a group home
So have a kind thought
for Gabriel
"We must love one another or die"

He can barely talk
since he was born with severe autism
I taught him a Lemon Piper and a Nat King Cole song
He likes music!
But will never have a girlfriend
or work for pay
Friends, if you feel bad about missing out
on fame or fortune
Consider the case of Gabriel - whom we love
Be thankful you can talk!!

Superman
He just stands there
Hands on hips
As if on guard - watching
His legs are flared in a wide stance
His feet planted firmly on the ground
His red cape flaps in the wind
What he sees, I can’t imagine
What he hears is beyond my range
If he feels, he never shows it
If he speaks it is with an authority only he recognizes
If he flys, it is only off the handle
Chronologically, he is 34 years old
On his good days, maybe 8, maybe 10
On a bad day – you don’t want to know
He just stands there
Hands on hips
As if on guard - watching
He is my superman
This is dedicated to anyone who knows someone mentally challenged be it autism or any number of other mental disorders.

She smiles and laughs with delight
When daddy squeezes her so tight
Excitement glows upon her face
Expressing pleasure at his embrace
This world is her happy place
Joyous enthusiasm she doesn't lack
Autism doesn't hold her back
Zany antics but words are few
Zeal for exploring all that's new
You are the light we wish for you

On World Autism Day, April 02
He does not know: why the world is unkind,
He's lost somewhere and being left behind,
To his happiness, everyone turns blind;
Complex thoughts arise in his immature mind.
He speaks with discontinuous speech,
At comprehension's threshold which can't reach;
His eyes trying to show a hidden beseech,
A cry: "Help! My Life Is Suffering Breach."
Asks: Is there any room in world for him?
Will you stand by to help him show his vim?
Road to reach Utopian World is long,
Oust his mental weakness to make him strong
So, provide him with his right, don't do wrong,
Ecstasy will spread, he'll sing happy song!

Mama
Mama, I think in only pictures,
and fight for every word.
I babble songs and stories,
and dream I will be heard.
My little toys I line up,
in a big parade.
I spin and dance to music,
silent in a way.
Mama, hold me close,
in your heart if not your arms.
I can not bear your touch,
but I do so love your charms.
Papa, don't be sad for me.
I believe I will be fine.
God he has his hand on me,
and keeps it there...
all the time.

child, emotions,
To the child autism it is like being in this very deep well. You scream to be let out but no one can hear you. Your alone and so frustrated that no one can hear you
So lonely, so dark
Love is the light. Shine on the child brightly
For when he emerges from that well. That child of autism will become a beautiful flower. From a caterpillar to a butterfly
