Kiss the Wind

I lay down
A lazy Sunday afternoon
The first winds from the north
Blowing snow like a blanket upon our souls

I fall asleep, in a haze of dreams
Where there she appears and forgive the obvious
The woman of my dreams
Never undressed, mind nor body

Here, in my delusion I beg for her heart
Tears roll down upon her chest
I whisper softly, tell me, tell me
You are my twin, in coldness and the dark

Entwined, we breathe slowly in silence
Words have flowed like the tears of the past
I hold on, in love, in desperation, in ecstasy
I caress her hair, and whisper be mine

Forever

Then I awoke, another sad day

Summer

Oh summer what have you done to me
so many flirtatious winks teasingly
undressing me with every wisp of
a welcomed heat filled breath

Oh summer, oh how you melt me
with those gazing sunrise eyes blinking
and those sweet high noon kisses swimming
fogging up another afternoon aviator sky

Oh summer your warm touches caress
and I'm a mess blushing into a golden
bronze affair wondering when you're not there
if you will ever come back again

Oh summer your nights delight with fire
and a backyard breeze harmony underneath
a blanket of stars and a lemonade moon
hushed I swoon knowing I'm in love

Martha's Poem

I will love you like tomorrow Like the days that come to me Like the warmth of summer sunshine Like a wind that blows me free To hear the song of nightingales Beneath a crescent moon To share each simple pleasure On a rainy afternoon In the silence of a morning Deep within a restless sea Walking through the darkness And with everything in me For every precious moment That lives in effigy Love will grow within my soul To reach eternity And when we gather moonbeams After twilight steals the hours Sleep with me through endless days Among a sea of midnight flowers

Black Afternoon

her sunlight shaded with clouds
burning love shuttered in pain.
rainfalls pour down on her feet
black widow spits in demon's face.

broken mirror hangs in the wall
she sees face dirty and old.
pulling down tears one by one
rinse the wound caused by his hands.

she caves underground to feel the darkness
composed herself while brokenhearted.
wait for the morning to witness the sunlight
free her mind to feel the long lost love.

fiercefully, she ran through the door
no regrets, left her home alone.
blue and purple paintings on skin
have gone when she dance in the rain.

Desert Love

Hot. . . white hot Sahara sand am I. Turning, ever turning, how I burn white. . . hot white beneath the desert sky. In search of sweet relief, for you I yearn, shifting, ever shifting, I’m a dune. Each particle of me is filled with heat. I roll beneath the sun of afternoon, ever passion parched though time be fleet. I’m drifting to the brink of mad desire. Cool. . . blue cool, sweet pool that I pursue- mirages that appear quench not my fire. Blue. . . cool blue, my remedy is you. I’m half a continent; my love is vast. Delectable Pleasure

on a quiet
Sunday
afternoon
rain
playfully
danced
amidst the
flourishing
trees of
Georgia.

memories
tempt
tastebuds
with a
sweet juicy
nectar
ripe with
luscious
desire.

sensually
fragrant
arousing
all senses
slowly,
delicately,
sensually.

peaches
simply are..

the Fruit
of the
Gods..

one of
life's
delectable
pleasures,
for the God
& Goddess
in all.

Que Seurat, Seurat

Like a Seurat painting
I view my life up close
and see a million tiny colored dots:
       eating breakfast
       driving to work
       writing a poem
       watching television
       playing a game
       singing a song
going to the park on a Sunday afternoon

You view these dots
from the proper distance,
blend them together
with kind, generous eyes
and you see art

(an ekphrasis poem after the pointillism painting "A Sunday Afternoon
on the Island of La Grande Jatte", by Georges Seurat, 1886)

Calls To the Meadow

Yellow tips of comfort
eye a corner of my sky

Should be holding on
soft skin caresses of sun
coming round once again

Dipped toes in quiet waters
drenched afternoon delight
swans sit still watching
stallions running home

Honeydew dreams drifting
arms wrapped all around
wild visions flap in the breeze

Listen calls to the meadow
come to me and fill her need

Of Lion Love

My feline bittersweet awakening
came decked with golden trim of flawless days.
A time it was to frolic and to fling
ourselves in grass, all afternoon to laze.

Together we were fearless, wild and free,
a noble lion and his lioness.
And sadly, neither one of us could see
that passion such as ours would evanesce.

Our error was believing that each kiss
could carry us. . . that love could multiply
or even match July’s exceeding bliss.
By summer’s end, our ardor had run dry.

A lion’s appetite can satiate,
and love - less noble then - will soon abate.

Three Messengers

This morning I hiked a wooded trail
And while quietly strolling along,
I was pleased to hear a lonely quail
A singing his mournful song.

And then again this afternoon
While drawing water from the well
A loon began it's soothing croon
That echoed 'cross the dell.

And in the evening as I dined
While resting in the swing
A mockingbird was very kind
To perch close by and sing.

Then later, as I knelt to pray
In telling God, "I love You"
That, I wished to hear Him say
Just once, He loved me too.

Then Father spoke! "Don't you know?
My son of course I love you too!
I sent couriers today to tell you so
Did my three messengers not find you?"

All Through Tuscany

The afternoon outlined. The sunny strokes
of a samurai blade on her body
revealing things the eyes feign see.
Tempted, wounded, the virgin parchment floats
between her skin and satin cloak.
Artist; afternoon, craving company
draws her inside-out so innocently,
on purpose leaves the yolk indwelling.

The painter in the corner moans,
he jealous of the afternoons artly
sensual oration.
Improving skin, bare olive tones
of subtle pastel, the moment partly lost
to the constellations.

Strawberry Ice Cream

Dish held my sugar cone
Ice cream of plump strawberries they were not alone
Sunny afternoon this was sweet when I was young
Hushed my talking tongue.

DANCING UNDER THE MOON - POTD

On a picnic blanket they lay
On a warm afternoon
Next to a field of yellow daisies
Beautiful in bloom

As the sun slowly faded
Entranced in a swoon
They declared their love for each other
Dancing under the moon

Every anniversary was spent there
She hummed their special tune
They celebrated their love
Dancing under the moon

She left the world before him
On a rainy day in June
Sunshine left his life that day
Replaced by sorrow and gloom

Now with a vacant stare
He sits in his care home room
His mind and memories now faded
Thoughts muddled and strewn

Yet ,he still remembers yellow flowers
Humming of a lovely tune
The love he felt for her
Dancing under the moon

What Is Love

Humming a beautiful love song as I skip around the room the smell of fresh baked cookies as I enjoy this Tuesday afternoon Watching children play in the leaf piles out in the neighbor's front yard Daydreaming of a family together between me and you Days of smiles and nights of warmth in a cozy little home upon a grassy noll Giant oaks and evergreens along with an apple tree filling up our hillside where we'll picnic in the spring Holding hands and living dreams what love is supposed to be A note I'll write for you my dear about a time I do foresee Where my heart is full the beats ring true and love is all we live

Lucky To Have Her

Rhythmic creaks and gentle squeaks from the withered old wooden rocking chair fill the sweltering late summer afternoon air a peaceful breeze blows across his tepid brow the old man begins to weep as he thinks of his wife inside Drips and drops and a little splash fall down into the half-full sink a lemon scent mixed with her lilac essence warm the cozy spotless kitchen The old woman plates coffee gateau smiles and sits next to him offering a taste of her treat Rich creamy chocolate and a hint of hazelnut he savors every bite of her love He smiles and whispers how lucky he is to have her

You Touched My Heart

Hammock swings the blue bird sings another lazy afternoon thoughts of a Paris romance dinner for two oh how you made me swoon Many birthday wishes and moonlight kisses that day I said I do That Monalisa's smile, how I stared for a while a soft lavender breeze those flowers in your hair how we made our feelings a home Not a day goes by when I don't remember that time Squeezing me tight, how could I ever depart When you touched my hand, and entered my life you touched every inch of my heart

When I Stop Loving You

When dawn's light is drawn from the moon
And morning dew arrives in the afternoon

When willows rejoice instead of weeping
And promises are no longer worth keeping

When artists paint only in dull shades of gray
And stars abandon the realm of the Milky Way

When a pen and ink no longer can I find
When love is a word that can be defined

That will be the moment when I stop loving you
And my heart forever dwell in a world of blue

When Lilacs Blossomed - Just a Note

One day soon I will grow old enough

not to remember the date, day, night and season

But , my mind ... My mind would never forget that hazy afternoon

When Spring was over, yet lilacs blossomed with your return.

Happy Is a Feeling Without a Ceiling

I find delight in bright stars and moonlight, a cooing dove, and wooing for love

'Happy' is a feeling without a ceiling, can't be bought, is more than words impart

It's a smiling child, wild flowers, afternoon showers, and the powers of God above

Happiness is pure pleasure, a treasure we can't hide and starts inside our hearts

Cruel Love Or Not

The light catamaran sailed swiftly
Before the breezy, gusty wind
Out towards the open azure sea.

We sat together under a vermilion sail,
The fresh air sighing through our hair.
My love was suddenly ablaze,
In the soft afternoon heat,
In the luminous and lucent light.

We played in a flamboyant spirit,
Feeling splendid and tender,
soft and lambent.
We snuggled up towards each other,
An idyllic moment.
He felt she was the woman of his life.

Soon we returned to port, happy and contented.
Then she dressed up and left,
Not even a smile or a backwards glance.
It broke my heart in two.

Little noticing she had left her card behind.

Choke Hold

Your fingers begin their release
pinkie, palm, to thumb.
The sensation lingers on my skin.
My knees week, body numb.

The indentation around my neck,
it is starting to bruise.
A shade of yellow appears.
Slowly, a green, purple, and blue.

I fall to my knees
kicked while I try to stand.
I slowly raise up my head
it’s met with the back of your hand.

Viciously from your mouth
the venomous words spew.
I can smell on your breath
the remains of your afternoon chew.

This is how painful it is,
to be in love with you.

The Great Hug

Everybody needs

A little love and care

A friendly hello, how are you dear

A little smile

Can go for millions of miles

To make rainbows out of stormy skies

You don't have to be

Extravagant

A little courtesy is sufficient

But what I have to say I can't hold back

I really mean it

And that's a fact

I want to hug you, in the morning

Before it's breakfast time

I believe my arms were made for hugging you

And yours were meant for mine

I want to hug you, in the afternoon

A sunny evening delight

I want to snuggle really close when stars are out

And hug you under moonlight

Raindrops and Roses

When gray clouds imposed their will upon the sky
With roaring refrain thunder replied
And raindrops in buckets came tumbling down
With life giving waters the earth it did crown

As it rained and rained all through the day
I watched from my window at my garden's bouquet
As the lilacs and violets in fragrant repose
Swayed in the wind as did the rose

When raindrops met roses that summer afternoon
I watched from my window up in my room
As the flowers drank this nectar sent from above
There meeting it seemed was all about love

Midsummer Scream

Midsummer hot afternoon hip
From licking lips of ice-cream drip.

Chocolate and mint I often crave
But strawberry - my old time fave!

Exquisite, palate pleasing taste -
My thrilled tongue twirling, soaked and bathed.

Body and mind of chilling bliss -
Hot and cold dish of ice cream kiss.

Ultimate height under the sun,
Where joy and pleasure melts in one.

Midsummer dream of taunting tease -
Languorous love in heat wave breeze!

Take Me To Your Heart

O, Darling
I want to be lost in the deepest core
of your heart,
as my soul flutters like a butterfly.
You are the woman I had been waiting
for, all my life.
Patiently drifting in time and space,
I had many breakups and heartbreaks,
piled in my memory like garbage.
Finally I met you on one silent,
summer afternoon, as you tried to decode
the meaning of life,
just like me.
Now,
I crave to open up your heart like a Christmas gift,
and flutter to the deepest emotions
that you seldom let the world see.
I want to see your glories and scars
as they are,
as you also see mine.
O, Sweet Sweet Darling,
take me to your heart just as I am.....
