When We Were Young

When we were young we loved our fairy tales
A frog could be a prince with just one kiss
Each cloud, a boat where dreamers could set sail
Imagination was the great abyss

Too soon we grew and lost our innocence
Found out that swords are never pulled from stones
That dreams come true but only with expense
And happy ever after's come and gone

Yet some of us still wish upon a star
Believe that rainbows come with pots of gold
Reality is life for most comes hard
And love like water runs both hot and cold

Like you I wish that fairy tales came true
But grown ups know they very seldom do

They Told Me You Cried

They told me you cried on the day I died
A sob splintering through a silent dome
Your sorrow a shroud on the catacomb
As I laid where birds no longer replied
Now I watch as you slowly search the beach
For those rare shells edged in liminal blue
I would gift you that impossible hue
To show I was within sight, within reach

Yet I wish you more than what shadows grant
A life in the sun of a springtime glen
Not lost in the gloom of my grave's abyss
Let my legacy be the hope you plant
Blooming with the courage to love again
If you will keep something of me - keep this

Tender Is This Love

Love has taken a firm grasp of my soul,
ridding me of chill and bite of hoarfrost
Strong arms rescued me from the Winter's cold
Etched upon my heart is his name,  embossed

He soothed my senses and woeful sorrows,
offered moonbeams to dispel darkest nights
Erased the reasons for my brow's furrows
Lifted me from harm and set my world aright

He drowned me in crashing tides of passion
then revived me with life's breath in a kiss
Pray, heart,  keep beating in such sweet fashion
ne'er to be slain and cast in death's deep abyss.

Tender is this love through nature's seasons
with gentle reminders of heart's reasons

Thought Changer

Catching sight of unwanted reflection
through my eyes I observe my murky mind
lifeless, inactive, defying action
just a blank canvas, raw, pure, unrefined,

desire to inject substantial color
inspired pastels to brighten the darkness
eyes opaque though restrict light, much duller
impulses, brain requesting less Starkness,

my poor mind is without shape or structure
until my thoughts turn to the one I love
blissful images, colorful picture
changing this abyss, no more mourning dove,

she changes my thinking without restraints
such beautiful colors my mind she paints.

Love Abyss

In the night I saw light, it was you and we flew; over the trees on the breeze, till the 'morn was new borne; and I kissed love abyss. __________________________ October 14, 2019 Poetry/Leonine/Love Abyss Copyright Protected, ID 19-1188-486-02 All Rights Reserved. Blistered

This is my first Petrarchan sonnet...

Grey days of loss and loneliness are here
Sad nights as long as shadows in the deep
No joy, no hope, no gentleness, no sleep
No ray of light predicted to appear
Just disappointment, emptiness and fear
And sacred dreams discarded in a heap
By some abyss of faith too wide to leap
In ruins lies the love we held so dear

Wise folk will say there will be love again
That suns come up, and suns go down, and yet
All I perceive is darkness, drear and grim
All I can feel is searing hurt and pain
My heart, my fingers, too burnt to forget
All blistered, from the flame I hold for him

Kaleidoscope Dreams

Green…you always reflected in my peripheral
And kept watch as I tried to color my world
But there I lay in my blacks and my blues,
lifeless and faltering In monotone hues.

Through kaleidoscope eyes, I envisioned my skies
But the pot at the rainbow was storybook lies
so with nothing to gain and nothing to lose,
I just shuffled around In my blacks and my blues.

Never did I imagine you!, Green… to be my savior
But there you arose, out of my dark abyss
With your bottle green dress and scarlet kiss
Your emerald green eyes and unbridled bliss.

Now my kaleidoscope dreams have all been unfurled
Since you Green, have colored my world
You rescued my heart, Green
You rescued my heart.

Living In the Past

Play for me, Long May You Run,
to shed a tear and reminisce
of open roads when life begun,
to think of those now gone and missed.

Play for me a tender song
to share with some good friends like you.
Let's laugh and cry and sing along.
I know you feel the way I do.

Faced with the choice of moving on
or falling in the past's abyss,
I'd rather meet each day's new dawn
with those dear souls I love and miss.

Long may they run, sun-kissed somehow,
though I have changed so much since then.
I wonder if they'd know me now
and warm me with their love again.

Moment of Bliss

A love so pure......
Refined
A union so sure...........
Entwined

No truer a love will you find
In a world that can be so unkind

 A love so vast..........
 Abyss
 Two hearts beat fast............
 A kiss

A smile I could not resist
Lost in a moment of bliss

The Ecstasy and Agony of Human Nature

Star-dusted peaks you seek on love's golden moonbeam bliss,
Feeling the rapture of whipped-cream desire in a whir;
Human experience wrapped in euphoria's kiss,
The ecstasy and agony of human nature...

Throes of living with woes, lost love's pathos reminisce,
Soul-groaning, heart-moaning; unwanted guests' bereft slur;
Wallowing human exist falls in nightmare's abyss,
The ecstasy and agony of human nature.

The Crosses In Your Eyes

Wretched Stakes

I find in your eyes a mysterious universe
fraught with the searing scent of betrayal
and warped reflections of my reality
swirling in shadows of welling, yet un-shed tears.

Rummaging the tortured abyss for a glint of familiarity,
grasping to anchor myself in the alien terrain,
I'm awestruck by the requisite strength; your strength...
to survive among the crosses in your eyes.

Over the horizon a faint glimmer defies the gloom.
A hopeful star, fading but stalwart,
screams for love as it grapples the swallowing deep.
At last, I fathom the wretched stakes.

Coke Bottle Promises

Sandy grains
wash over and over
a discarded glass
bottle
leaving what is left
smooth as silk
to my fingertips
touch
like a childhood
memory
thought over and over
once more
and as I look
out into the unyielding
sea
I recall your promise
words
I recall, over and over
again
like the waves splashing my
tan feet upon the sands
for you are overdue
love
to return to me
as I kiss my love note
to you
and toss the bottle once
more
into the dark blue abyss
below
my coke bottle
promise
forever and only
yours
I do stay
 honest

Despair

Bore after bore fell silent eventually Abhor I do feel through my eyes Gore and sore now abundantly plenty Tore through clouds, wondrous skies Despair in abundance appears all around Where in the world has all our love gone Stare into our abyss, and see it abound There is no tomorrow, there is no dawn <*>

I Am Who I Want To Be

Who knew you were so mechanically incline
My cardiac specialist, you fixed the broken in mine
Who knew you possessed such a green thumb
Growing feelings in a salted heart that was numb
Who knew you could build something out of nothing
Filling the void, the abyss, the hole with your everything
Who knew you could be a blanket wrapping me
Without disillusion, with you, I am who I want to be

Eye Love, You

I plunge, headfirst,

to swim your eyes,

     and search their depths

for the soul of your mysteries ...

should I lose myself among the eddies there,

or the shadowy abundance of your passions

pull me to the warm dark of your abyss,

there is no other earthly place ...

     I'd rather drown.

I Am Autumn

"this poem is not about what is written, but what is not written..."

My smile brings shores of shadows in the sky
A smile unsure of happiness and bliss
I touch the trees and watch their branches cry
A tear itself leaves from my face amiss
As tears and leaves descend into abyss

I come descending from the grey above
To bring a quarter of my seasons love
A love compared to death, natures demise
And with my lips I kiss the things you love
Secretly keeping Summer's butterflies!

Across the Void

a man and a woman
lucky in love and precious
fate walked in and kissed them both
kisses wet, sloppy, thirsty
from an unplanned tenderness
romance fluttered
love came next there was no doubt
their chemistry delicious
played one off the others substantial
in the beginning of her purring
on purpose as fate
walked them down the primrose blushing
passion concentrated and gifted
translovely dream cooing
across the abyss
separating them from their naughty
they talked of love needful
secrets were confessed fragile
vowed to leave the past behind
shredded and troubled
their bond will be sewn husky
he closes his eye tender
she holds out her attractive
together they are damaged

Silhouettes

I saw you face your lover; you both made
a pattern quite distinctive in the dark.
Silhouettes on the window shade displayed
two hands that met two others; formed an arc.

The hands, from arms outreached, delivering
their upturned palms that now together pressed,
could not release nor stop their quivering,
anticipation physically expressed.

Then two who stood behind a window posed,
at last fell trembling into love’s abyss.
Love’s essence on the shade was then transposed
as bodies touched and mouths met in a kiss.

Your shadow with your lover's intertwined.
A valentine pulsed on the window’s blind.

Alone I Stand

In frozen ivory towers and burning dungeons
The inescapable truth is that in the darkness
Even your shadow leaves you
Stare at the abyss and the void fills you
Your mind trapped as you hide your black-hole heart
Shadows lurking out of sight
Manifestations surround you
the journey of the hopeless soul
Is it a lesson that must be endured
To make the heart steady
So that when you reach the end
You truly appreciate how bad it could have been
And what you’re capable of
So that you know that you all need
Is your beating heart and nothing else
Just you
Believing in a dream..
Something that
The darkness
Can’t touch.

Your Touch

YOUR TOUCH is a gift swelled inside my nape- wrapped up in words of love that suffice my desire for you ignite my body’s fire i tie myself snug with ruby red ribbons, gentle whispers enveloped inside- make sure the silver bow is in its place so you may open with blown kisses and perpetual promises you open me up- soft lace overlaying barren skin; i disentangle and fall into your arms, you kiss me like the first and we melt into the abyss of marriage bliss; my love, it’s always been… YOUR TOUCH ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1.19.20

Be Generous

When times are tough Be like a flame; shine enough It would be an unwise wade Allowing your star to fade. Donate without asking why Sense a grateful lifting of supply Always apply the common sense Place yourself in a sea of incense. The same as a gentle sparrow. With serene seas, paths were narrow. Accept the love-planted seeds bliss. fall short of the depths of the abyss.

Afghanistan

I feel like Afghanistan
All the friends who helped me through my depression
Have left
I want to leave this body I call home
Rather than wage war with my demons
Strong and mighty
Smiling is equivalent to holding a plane at Kabul.
I fly for a minute
And drop back down into the abyss
Depression you restrict me like the Afghan woman now.
But I will learn to love my body
And I will find my home some day

You Saved My Soul

I've been in a dark ,Until you came with a light
Since then my heart's been dancing in a glow of light

You saved me from falling in an abyss that no one knew its bottom
An abyss of despair, an abyss of pain and boredom

if you're not alcohol, I must be drunk by your kindness
if love is blind, I was lucky enough to see your heart
That crafted a room for brightness and happiness
And if you're my universe, I might as well be your sun

Rise upon your heart and make it warm with love
Nice cold morning breeze singing this is true love

Finally, I picked a precious gold in a coal mine
finally, I stole someone's heart and made it mine

Different Love

I'm here to cut the glass with the grass
Leave my mark of blood I will
From the hurt of the loss of love it's left without remorse
Spilling from the innocent hearts
I came to the abyss
To spray and load my head with things never to happen
Seaping from a cut, the blood of wicked lies
Coming to show my worth and tremendous youth lost and gone
I'll never find it without help or cause
Imagine a love so great that you can't even bleed anymore
From the joy it brought and light it showed you cry nightly
Take that six times over
And you'll get my love for the hate of the ****

My Heart Was Ripped Out

My heart was ripped out Was ripped out of my chest Leaving a hole A bottomless hole A black hole Deeper than the great abyss Wider then space itself Where temperatures are so cold Where thermometers cease to register Where no sound emanates Thought is impossible And there's no ability to feel Even if touch were possible Things would just crumble as you tried And vanish never to be seen again A place where life ceases to exist And no hope is possible My heart is gone Gone from my chest Not sure if I will ever Find it again
