Shoreline

Watching sunrise, shoreline's ablaze
Love letter sent from Thee
I sing a psalm, an Easter palm
And start my day with glee.

Watching sunset, shoreline's agleam
A note Thou sent with smile
I heave a sigh, a love's reply
And thank God for this isle.

I Dreamed a Butterfly

I dreamed a butterfly in golden days when buttercups lay in the fields ablaze. It fluttered to my cheek, sweet love to bring. My heart was wont to burst and wont to sing. In breath of morn was scent of bluebell sprays. On blossomed blankets of the fields we’d laze, and into one another’s eyes we’d gaze, my love and I, as April had her fling. I dreamed a butterfly. Our bliss was as the spring, a fleeting phase, and brief’s the beauty of young lovers’ craze. As cruelly as a wasp, he left a sting - and all the lovely plans we made took wing, leaving mere memories of golden days. I dreamed a butterfly. 2/21/13

Henry VI and Napoleon were crowned Kings there
A hunchback found his lady fair,
But heartbreak comes to Notre Dame
As she is now in flames

Joan of Arc, whose reputation was maligned
 Was beatified there in 1909
But heartbreak comes for Notre Dame
As she is now in flames

The flames have died, the lady stands
She'll be restored and again be grand
Where once, the hunchback, with heart aflame
Found love and solace with this Dame

Adrift - a Quatern

As raindrops grace my windowpane,
My thoughts return to you again;
Beneath those cliffs of 'Evermore',
That morn along that rocky shore.

My mind ablaze, in that old flame,
As raindrops grace my windowpane;
Beneath those veils of silver mist,
Drenched in the bliss, of that first kiss.

Lost lover to that ocean's roar,
Cannon, the one that I adore;
As raindrops grace my windowpane,
I am consumed by you again.

A soul on fire, now set adrift,
I sail beneath those purple cliffs;
Upon a sea of joy and pain,
As raindrops grace my windowpane.

Spring

The finest day of spring
petals dance on sudden gales
counting every one
before the sinking sun
fly, fly little wings
like love that never fails.

Shadows begin to wake
to a chorus that is the night
crickets fiddle, slow
warblers whistle, low
shine, shine velvet moon
till last you fade from sight.

Hear the sea in song
where the swallows play and die
starlight in the haze
flicker fireflies, ablaze
stay, stay gentle dream
beneath the candles in the sky.

Unrequited.

He did not love her, yet she adored him.
For the naive soul who fell all alone,
Ablaze with a fiery yearn for him,
Her Fondness met with a heart of cold stone.

Wept as the fire died, saw embers of him.
The embers burnt black, and she became scarred.
Discovered merely hatred within him,
The truth was unveiled and her heart was charred.

To be lonely in love is to suffer,
No solace in solitude it is grim,
Dreams are lonely with only one owner,
She wants to share her dream of love with him.

To love him, to love you, is all I ask
Let my heart find peace and remove my mask.

Cruel Love Or Not

The light catamaran sailed swiftly
Before the breezy, gusty wind
Out towards the open azure sea.

We sat together under a vermilion sail,
The fresh air sighing through our hair.
My love was suddenly ablaze,
In the soft afternoon heat,
In the luminous and lucent light.

We played in a flamboyant spirit,
Feeling splendid and tender,
soft and lambent.
We snuggled up towards each other,
An idyllic moment.
He felt she was the woman of his life.

Soon we returned to port, happy and contented.
Then she dressed up and left,
Not even a smile or a backwards glance.
It broke my heart in two.

Little noticing she had left her card behind.

Hunger

desire becomes
the heart's need
passion it breathes
hungering
in embers

flames sparking words
relights ablaze
burning red
from the mirror
of one's soul
touching smiles

happiness
a dream
forever beautiful
igniting in the deep
embers burning
wild feelings

food of love
melting softness
eternal desire
a second heartbeat
feeding the fire
deep burning flames

a temperature rises
burning red passion
relights
a single rose
blooms
in these ashes

Remember When

Remember when we walked across the field Leaves of autumn crunching beneath our feet The color of the trees was what appealed Maybe to be alone, our love complete Those red and yellow leaves seen were replete Holding hands in anticipation then Once behind the growth hidden in the glen Your kiss 'pon my lips set dogwoods ablaze Long as memory holds visit again When autumn's angular sun shines its rays

A Love Who Won'T Let Me Be

You light the fires within
my heart causing tiny
embers to become ablaze
filling my world with your
love's glow while sweeping
my love filled mind away

For each time when I pray
to You all over again, I start
to ascend for I am touched
deeply by Your bliss that in
love I simply begin again

I start to feel the way I felt
that memorable day we first
did meet and like that day
You are still the same as again
Lord, I am swept off my feet

And the fires are always fanned
daily that inside of my spirit lives
so deep while my heart will still
be a willing slave to a true love
who will not let me be...

For What Is Love

For what is love
when lust, now cool,
sits idly in a nested spool?

What fuels the flame
banks, tends the fire,
ignites the coolness of desire?

When looks can scorch
a silent room, a glance
rekindle romance

a distant wink
a lingering gaze
set love’s memories ablaze.

For love is not a what
or when, nor is it but
a now and then

it is the lovers
simmering lust
embers of a timeless trust.

Love Potion

Who hasn’t heard of the notion
The secret recipe for love potion
Can detonate a frenzied explosion
While stirring carnal emotion
Wild winds setting in motion
The sails ablaze on blue ocean
Stars above burn in devotion
Igniting the spark of implosion
Catapulting a heart in commotion

Heat

Cigarette ash on the torn page of a Keroac
Told us to “Burn Burn Burn”, so we never looked back.
We fled, our hearts ablaze like the setting sun
No care where it lead us, we were on the run.
An inferno fueled by Hendrix’s “Fire,”
We incinerated doubt upon that pyre.
Blacked lungs serenaded flickering streetlights
While the flames of our passion consumed the nights.
Kerosene hearts ignited by matchstick kisses
We danced to the beat of the fire’s hisses.
Each touch a spark, yielding to lust
With this much euphoria, we’re bound to combust.

Autumn Royal

Come my love past the beauty of the hill
Ablaze with ginger sunset and fall fire
On a fast downhill wagon hayride thrill
In festive saffron and amber attire
Celebrating with tambourine and lyre
Autumn’s gift of new harvest abundance
With an improvised Abu Barn floor dance

Circling around ginger and umber mound
Pumpkin carving for the Jack-O- lantern
Eating chestnuts fresh gathered from the ground
Racing rolling barrels to the caverns
To ferment before hitting the taverns
Cinnamon flavored pies and crimson wine
Ginger spiced to flavor the night is fine

Loss of the Golden Flower

It was now several years ago,
my chivalry yet half-formed, ablaze,
and wishing to melt all reason down,
for the mind shall bar the heart's fool ways.

I gazed upon the blossom fair,
and at long last there grew a need,
to protect, preserve, and fawn upon,
though the wildflower did not take heed.

So strong she was, and I so blind,
to think that I could help her grow.
And pain it was - for I knew it!
But I never wished it to be so.

Spurned, a man is better,
to ride far and to ride free.
Please forgive me, golden flower,
for wishing to tend to thee.

Self Seduction

Let's make love with our souls
 to the point
we set our bodies ablaze
You can be my favorite fan
who stokes that
 internal flame
Sometimes I swear
I'm going through the change
I'd trade all my masculinity
to taste the traces
of your feminity
Every thought
burns with so much insanity
 that when we
connect dots
we find clarity
I took a moment and
removed my pen top
and messed around
and seduced myself
flirting with metaphors.
All I need is a few
consonants and
one fill in the blank
and I'll make every four
letter word feel like fate

Steamy

Stirred
Reawakened
Feverish memories
In unison hearts pulsating
With torrid intensity
Of eons ago
A lifetime
Lost in a universe
Of cravings ablaze
Steamy and wild
The days of our youth
A world unto themselves
Devoured

The Beach of Promises

The Beach of Promises

1.

Fingers entwined, barely touching,
turquoise waters teasing your dancing toes,

strolling along that serene deserted beach,
our promised dreams within aching reach.

2.

Hands clasped, holding on,
sea-breezes tickling the nape of your neck,

walking together, alone, vowing to never breach,
the dreams dreamed on that faraway velvet beach.

3.

Hands in my pockets, alone,
traces of you linger, teasing,

lost in my scribbles, your memory fading out of reach,

my thoughts ablaze, now and then,
catching a whiff of your fragrance,

wafting through alleyways of nostalgia,
your hand in mine on our pristine beach.

Flames Do Leap

One glance and flames set ablaze
His fluttering heart in a daze
Like a spinning kite caught in the wind
It has no fear of fall nor singe
 Consumed by love’s eternal flame
He seems a man somewhat insane
His smiles once rare, make no retreat
Constant and fierce as desert heat
Now broaden as hot flames leap

Sensation

In an empty room as we sat gazing at each other intense was that you took my hand made me stand driven by the fire and gave in to desire Hands on my waist you drag me close took my lips albeit and drank a dose devoured with a furious want sending thrills that will haunt Longing more with the rising pulse intense was the passionate impulse hugs of wanton need and lingering touch Paralyzing the mind not missing much My heart ablaze and head so light I in a daze ever so bright blinded as i was by the love so pure being so close melted for sure © Nadiya (17 Jan '15)

Mine Heart In Thine Hand

Fair is this pristine earth upon which thou stands With thy face t'ward the sun and mine heart held in thy hand On many a day, I am a quiet river flowing And I drink in thy laughter and windswept song How the twinkles within thine eyes set ablaze mine soul Thou art the sustenance which is required for life’s arduous toll As thou breathest in air, I pray thee, inhale all of me And place mine heart within thine for safekeeping with thee ~*~ 02/01/13

Her Name Was Chamomile

Her name was Chamomile.....

   she filled my heart ablaze,

   one lazy-October day,

   batting those eyes ---

   such guile!

A poor, romantic little thing,

   hopeless to begging love,

   sick with gorgeous news ---

   her hero (would he flew)

   'ere her aching heart,

   explode a thousand pleas

   for her sensuous sylph-self

The men were dogs for her,

   back in the day;

   her hair smelled of Chamomile....

   her eyes teased with Chamomile....

   her lips, red and wanting,

   her crimson-spiced kiss....

But she be only mine,

as she oozed down my throat....

Fall Again

Russet, sets a blush to the trees, while we stroll, in a gold rush, of leaves. The living skies, of Autumn, ablaze. Vaporous streamers in the sun's rays. Your hand, warm in mine, gives a squeeze. A soft kiss, makes me weak in the knees. We speak without needing words, yet, so meaningful, my heart is stirred. A silent conversation of love, offering more than I could dream of. I fall in love all over again, with my husband, my best friend.
