Love Poem: Zephyr

Zephyr

Gentle zephyr, now caress me
like the tender words which ere he
whispered to me, so did beguile
to let him stay a little while
and dine the night from my fruit tree.

We’ll sail my yacht, we two, said he
on gentle zephyr to Capri
there we can honeymoon a while
after I walk you down the aisle
he smiled, and I said let it be.

This morn I woke and what to see,
his yacht no longer at the quay.
I gave an inch, he took a mile
then left without a look, a smile;
gentle zephyr breezed him from me.
