Love Poem: Zara

Zara

We made our choices.
I sunk into a sunset,
even though it upset,
my soul, from the surface,
to its depths.

…and you chose first.

Privileged are those,
whose conscience can hold the gun.
You had all the time in the world,
an olive branch would not have hurt.

You chose to run.

You chose to stay on the other side,
with the ghosts that kept me up at night.
If we ever rise to fight in this life,
it’s about the things we find, we can’t live without.

So I fought, I became an army, looking to conquer.
Little did I know, you can’t force emotions.
We are little drops swimming in these oceans,
thinking the rage within our spirit, can reach the coast and
I’m sunk now, gone, it’s exhausting.

We did make our choices.
Each day is proof, everything was pointless.
For the thirsty can’t resist the rivers,
I’ve been flowing, you’ve been nowhere.

I can’t explain this pain deep inside me.
All my dreams and all peace in sight, we,
were written by divine and that is why the sky now is crying.
None of this is fair and everyone keeps lying.

We make our choices and they are forged in time.
I waited here too long, before the ink had dried.
Forgiveness is a blessing, missing from my mind,
I hope there is some peace, for everybody’s crimes.

Though I’m never innocent, my words were always true.
The pure doesn’t give up heaven, if the guilt does not consume.
So it was fair, for me to assume, those lies hid my doom,
and I’m certainly never chasing, whoever cut the roses before they bloomed.
