You'Re a Little Like Me

You’re a little bit like sunshine
Flooding the windowsill
After an invigorating rain shower
Whispers prayers to heaven
Praising the One who gave us all
The buttery sun and throbbing
Patter of rain melting all the heat
Sighing with compassion
That breathes kindness throughout
Heaven’s melody for creation

You’re a little like the cool night
Full of stars flickering across the dark
Dissolving laughter through sighs
Of poetic images told on caresses
From the one who knows best
The reason for a gentle touch
A gaze that reveals the longing
Inside the eyes who twinkle delight
And remind me why I am someone
Who feels most alive in silence

You’re a little like the memories
That hold my heart and soul
In hands of grateful reminiscences
Throbbing with a heartbeat of knowing
That it is only God’s kindness
Who lifts the burden of pain and sorrow
From the soul who has experienced
Love and loss, aliveness and then death
The memories are both burdens
And a whispery embrace from the past

You’re a little like music flowing
From a soft instrument
A graceful guitar or a melancholy
Piano who knows the art
Of giving someone the chance to sing
Of joy, heartbreak and pain
A chance to reflect on the melody
Of hope and faith, love that lives
In the heart who knows to always give

You’re a little like me
You’re wild and you’re free
But you cling to the belief
That love never leaves!

Love is eternally bleeding
Through the veins of the heart
Who clings to prayers for love
That is forever and always
A breath in the lungs
A hope in the heart
A joy that is sought
And a love that I want!

You’re a little like us all
You have a good heart!
