Love Poem: Youngest One

Youngest One

At first site face to face
Came into this world and found your place
Over the years I've watched you grow
Not long enough or very slow
Long silky hair colored honey
If I had it I'd give all my money
And would walk over a thousand miles
To get a glimpse of that beautiful smile
The youngest one of my lttle pack
In beauty nothing do you lack
Hands of protection caress your skin
Awed by your essence soaking it all in
So pure and innocent a vulnerable clean slate
All my heart and soul you're here to take
Willingly though I give it to you
A love so deep, loyal and true
The kind that stands the test of time
As I marvel at Gods gift of mine
The two before you who have to wait
To see the outcome of your fate
With eyes bright blue color of the sky
Changing colors by mood or when you cry
Watching as you started to crawl
A place inside not wanting you to grow at all
Before I knew it you began to talk
Then started to run before you walked
Oh how quickly you learned to ride a bike
Even though you were such a little tyke
I blinked and all of a sudden you're ten
Knowing all along that time will win
And now as I move this pen of mine
How it really does blow my mind
A teenager now almost grown
Deep down my beating heart lets out a moan
To know pretty soon out the door you'll go
Embark on the world and do your own show
Great things are ahead for you
My baby girl with eyes so blue
When you're an adult and my job is done
How my love will never stop for my youngest one
