You Ruined the Rain For Me

I wish that I had superpowers.
So that I could read your mind.
I'd violate your thoughts,
As you violate mine.
Constantly,
Incessantly;
With unforgiving relentlessness.

I would take control of you,
And I'd make you a puppet.
So that you would know how it feels
To be at somebody else's mercy,
Only to have the strings cut abruptly
And to fall to your knees in agony at the absence of the one thing holding you steady.

I would beat you senseless,
From the inside out
So that you would know how battered my heart has become.
It's black and blue,
Bleeding and limp;
A carcass of the beautiful beating life that it once signified.

I would force your tears,
And you would drown in them.
You would burn,
And know how my lungs ceased and failed to function
When you left me standing in the rain.

My violent acts would make me a villain.
But I'll tell them you're my origin story.
