Would You Still Love Me

“I love you from the bottom of my heart.” Such you asserted in your notes with Cupid’s arrow... …But now that you’ve known my heavenly priorities; Would you still love me, ready for a fresh spiritual relationship? “I love you with my brain’s hypothalamus.” Prudently, you proved that along your sweet presents… …But now that you’ve learned about my holy calling; Would you still love me, not regarding me as religious fanatic? “I love you and I’ll support you all the way.” Thus you promised along your best wishes… …But now that you’re aware of my God-granted tasks; Would you still love, remembering me in your supplications? “I love you, just the way you are.” With that, you made me feel like I was the apple of your eye. …But now that you’ve seen my gracious transformation… Would you still love me, eager to be my partner in God’s service? “I love you with an everlasting love.”* That’s my God’s assurance-declaration in Jeremiah 31:3 of the Scriptures… …Putting to naught suitors’ grand wooings, be they mystical or magical. With gratitude, I will love my Lord with my utmost, pleasing Him by faith!
*Jeremiah 31:3 The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee. December 8, 2018 3rd place, "Would You Still Love Me" Poetry Contest Sponsored by Edward Ibeh; judged on 12/25/2018.
