Worlds of Poetry

From love divine, the kiss of hell
Embraced my heart in ceaseless pain
And left me standing in the rain
To hear the tolling of the bell
The lonely sound, a deathly knell
As words reveal I’m lost, insane
To never feel the joy again
Yet lips still smile to say all’s well.

The shrouded mask that is my face
To cloak the pain I feel inside
Nowhere to turn or just confide
Yet none shall see my hiding place
The loner seeks no sweet solace
As feelings shrink to be denied
And no more tears are freely cried
The fact I cared is my disgrace.

No love shall e’er penetrate me
To make me dance to rhythmic beat
I shall not feel waves lick my feet
My eyes no longer look to see
The light that sung of liberty
Denied the sun and summer heat
The loneliness seems coldly sweet
In darker worlds of poetry.
