Words Will Weep, Whiskers Will Smile

Whisper a smile to my ears, love,
Whisper a tear to my heart.
Whisper your memory over and over,
Whisper away please, apart.

Whisper yesterday gone, love,
Whisper a moment right now.
Whisper right now, forever, love,
Whisper forever to us.

These grey whiskers are worn just by me love,
These grey whiskers belong just to you.
Though you've not been here to watch them fade,
These whiskers have always been true,
Like my heart which has always been yours, love,
No other has shared e'en a part.
First-love tucked away in a jeweler's case,
Just you and I from the start.

Whisper those words you once told me, love,
So many years ago,
Whisper those words which melted me,
Before you had to go.

These grey whiskers were brown way back then, love,
You tugged on them and said, "Please don't cry."
But there was a tear on your tongue, love
And there was a tear in my eye.
Soon I'll speak smiles to your ears, love,
Soon I'll shout to our tears: "Depart!"
Soon we'll dance the end to all memory,
Soon we'll dance the end to apart.

Whisper us into forever, love,
Whisper as I cross o'er the last mile.

Words will weep never more, love.
But I'm sure my whiskers will smile.
