Love Poem: Wonderland By Night

Wonderland By Night

Beside the lake’s a little park
Where I will go when it is dark
To sit beneath the lamplight’s glow
Upon a bench to watch the show

As twilight fills the evening hours
Amidst the garden’s sleeping flowers
The moon casts down its mellow light
To form a wonderland by night

Just a few have had the chance
To see the park in moonlit dance
Only the dreamers such as I
And lovers who may happen by

The gently flowing summer breeze
Caresses boughs upon the trees
Then as the branches softly sway
Their shadows leap about in play

They dance along the pathways where
The fireflies will join them there
To scatter bits of sparkling light
Among the blossoms deep and bright

While waters of the fountains flow
The nightingale sings soft and low
It’s beautiful romantic call
Will serenade the starlight ball

The lilting melody plays on
Until the early light of dawn
Then as the sun begins to break
It sparkles softly o’er the lake

So join me here beside the shore
The bench can always hold one more
Then we will share a special sight
And watch this wonderland by night
