Love Poem: Without You

Without You

sunlight lost its shimmer,
the day was cast in bitter
hope was gone – silenced
by the thought that the whole
world was lost, adrift in a sea of doubt,
darkened by the hand who made
everything, everyone – all the world

He was there on the cross
when the light lost its glimmer
there were no words, no thoughts
only the fear that hesitated
just a whisper beneath the secret
His life on earth, His mission
was nearly complete as He hung there
on a tree that would be
the way to come into His presence
the way to find grace and forgiveness

sunlight fell quiet beneath the darkness
the black, obscuring even the doubt
without a reflection to see through
all the tears, blinked back by those who knew
this man, hanging there, was the One
God’s only Son – saving the world
from the darkness that comes to those
who never accept His love as the way to heaven,
the way to make peace with God,
the way to find acceptance that delivers
the soul from eternity in a darkness that is
the devil’s pleasure – the soul’s anguish,
the darkness that is forever - deprived of His presence!
